In the preview of the great growths in Wiesbaden 437 wines from 264 vineyards were presented by 147 wineries. Our Riesling VDP.Grosses Gewächs was not missing. With the review of the editors of the magazine Weinwirtschaft our Grosses Gewächs is among the top German Rieslings.

Tasting Note: Light yellow. Attractive bouquet, good intensity. Orange peel, apricot, mint and some flowers. Delicate, slightly fruity opening. Medium body, but brittle structure that makes the wine lively. The fruit is also noticeable in the palate and is supported by the acid. A remarkable wine, actually for the grandchildren. I hope I‘ll be grandfather some day! Drinkability 2020-2042

Wiesbadener Kurier, Sept. 6th. - Schloss Vollrads presented its historic cellar on the occasion of 300 years of cabinet

After our day of the open door with the motto „300 years Kabinett“ the local newspaper Wiesbadener Kurier wrote a great article about this day.

Quote from the introduction: „Above the arch, the name is still in the old spel-ling -“ Cabinet Keller„. In 1716, this was the first cellar of its kind in the world, the executives say at Schloss Vollrads, which is why they invited the people to celebrate 300 years of Kabinett.“

The article by Oliver Bock entitled „Fifteen Steps in the German Wine History“ has been published on FAZ Plus. It is about our Kabinett Anniversary and our 5,000 square meter big biodiversity vineyard in which almost all the worldwide available Riesling clones can be found.

From the introduction: „Behind the inconspicuous iron door in the courtyard of Schloss Vollrads, 15 steps lead steeply down into a special chapter of German wine history. In 1716, the first German Cabinet Cellar was built, in order to separate the particularly fine from the ordinary drops. Wines from the Cabinet Cellar in the age of baroque were the best that the Lords of Greiffen-clau had harvested from the surrounding vineyards. „

Oliver Bock has again organized a competition for the best dry estate Riesling in this year. From 33 participants we have won the 4th place. That marks our Gutsriesling dry as one of the best in the region.

The Wiesbaden Kurier newspaper reports about the biodiversity vineyard at Schloss Vollrads and the challenges that winemakers have to face with the progressing climate change.

In the article, our 300 years Kabinett anniversary is also mentioned. The original documents from 1716 were shown to the editors exclusively.

The Amsterdam-based wine magazine WINE LIFE has released a highlight on the oldest wineries in the world in the June / July issue of 2016.In this Issue Schloss Vollrads could not be missed with its over 800-years of his-tory. The article explains how the history has envolved at Schloss Vollrads and what can be found in the castle today. As a special tip, the castle courtyard is highlighted. With a glass of Riesling and delicious Tarte Flambée from the castle kitchen can enjoy life.

The editor Ulrike Würzberg visited Schloss Vollrads and experienced the history of Cabinet wine by our estate director Dr. Rowald Hepp. The original winery bill from 1716 played a central role. The invoice describes exactly what works the master bricklayer Johan Muter has performed in the world‘s first Cabi-net-cellar at Schloss Vollrads. After the 800-year wine sales Jubilee, 300 years of Kabinett wines is now celebrated!

DER SPIEGEL first editon 1/2016 Aroma, das aus der Kälte kommt / Aroma that comes in from the cold

In the first edition of the German magazine DER SPIEGEL, an article on the two Riesling wineries Schloss Vollrads and Schloss Johannisberg was published. The article pays special attention to the different philosophies of the two wineries.In terms of Schloss Vollrads it is pointed out that Schloss Volllrads is a modern winery on the pulse of time despite the many centuries of history.

Much attention is paid to our 1211 Riesling Premium wine which was parti-ally matured in a small oak barrel in opposition to the remaining wines of the estate which are maturing in stainless steel tanks.

ZbBz life style magazine Singapore

The Singapore-based lifestyle magazine ZbBz published an article in December 2015 about Justin Queck, head chef of Sky57 restaurant at Marina Bay Sands Hotel Singapore. The article is about the importance of a exclusive wine selec-tion for high end gastronomy. Queck names his special selection of rare wines in magnum bottles as a secret of success.

His collection also includes a special edition of a 2012 Schloss Vollrads Riesling in the 1,5 litre magnum bottle which was exclusively bottled and labelled for Justin Queck only.
