Himmelske Fredsplads, ”Den Forbudte By”, Den Kinesiske Mur og

Modern Dental Laboratoriet er kort sagt verdens største

dentallaboratorie.

Lantau.

nyder undervejs en spektakulær 360 graders panoramaudsigt over

lufthavnen i Hongkong, ”North Lantau Country Park” og det

sydkinesiske hav.

Will your current job still exist

in a future of digital dentistry... ?

Digital technology and 3D workflows are a portent of radical

changes in the dental profession. This technological shift should

lead to highly reliable treatment results with an unsurpassed quality.

In such a digital workflow the essential phase is the application of

imaging technology and data acquisition, which has to be highly

accurate and detailed. This seems to already be possible with the

currently available technology like the cone beam CT and facial 3D

scanners and intra-oral 3D scanners. But new technologies linger

at the horizon, which will help us in our diagnostics and treatment

planning. Apart from the digital acquisition, tremendous

developments have been accomplished in the field of computer

aided design and rapid manufacturing. The latter has undergone a

true revolution thanks to new materials that have been developed

over the last few years.

All these CAD/CAM technologies combined have the potential of a

true revolution in dentistry, making our work easier and the quality

of our work better. In this lecture an effort is made to compare the

conventional and the digital workflows and to highlight the potential

harbingers of an irreversible change in our conventional dental

pursuits. What is still needed to bring all of the technologies

together to start this irreversible process of change? And the most

important question will be answered: is the future of dentistry truly

digital and …. will your job be still available in ten years?

Paradigm shift in esthetic zone:

guided concept for a predictable result

Partial bonded restorations have become for the last fifteen years

the most esthetic, biologic and biomechanic solution to restore

dental defects and mimic the nature. At the same time materials ,

technic , concepts brought us all the solution to offer a

contemporary dentistry to our patient.

Dental manufacturers offer awesome product. These need to fit

with a precise methodology in order to propose solutions to the

dentist and improve their daily life. The aim of this presentation will

be to suggest a simple way of working and thinking which can be

resumed by these 3 key words: simple, teachable and repeatable.

Intraoral scanning:

The new way of impression taking

- Does Prosthodontics go digital ? -

Intraoral scanning is the most interesting actual development in

modern prosthodontics. It is the decisive step that makes it

possible to circumvent the error prone traditional way of impression

taking and model casting. Up to now nearly all CAD/CAM based

milling and manufacturing processes are based on the scanning of

traditional gypsum casts.

Though dentistry in the future will be clearly digital (think of

traditional and digital photography and the rapid change in this

field) at the moment there is still need for traditional impression

taking.

The lecture will highlight the pros and cons of intraoral scanning

and weigh it against traditional impression taking. Based on sound

foundation of data available many clinically relevant aspects will be

shown that influence everyday’s work and may be implemented

easily in every dental office.

In summary the following items will be addressed:

• Digital vs. conventional workflow in prosthodontics

• Tissue management including special requirements for intraoral

scanning

• Intraoral scanning devices available on the market and their

special benefits

• Clinical examples: Which technique works best to reproduce a

given situation

Screw-Retained or Cemented Implant

Prostheses – Pros, Cons, and Alternatives

Replacing missing or failed teeth with Implant supported

restorations has become a standard of care in modern dentistry.

An important treatment planning decision lies in the choice of

screw- or cement-retention for implant restorations. Both have

their advantages and disadvantages/limitations. While patients do

not seem to have a preference for either, here are relevant clinical

and technical issues that need to be taken in consideration by the

clinician.

Page 5: ”WORLD DENTAL FORUM” I BEIJING, LABORATORIEBESØG I ... · prosthodontist, dental lab and last but not least for the patient. We will no longer talk about immediate loading but

5ELYSEE DENTAL (DK) | WDF 2017

Current scientific evidence on implant and prosthesis survival has

not demonstrated statistically significant differences between

screw- and cement retention. However, biologic complication rates

appear to be higher with cemented implant-prostheses, primarily

due to cement extrusion into the peri-implant soft tissues, which

often leads to peri-implant tissue infections and bone loss. On the

other hand, screw-retained reconstructions trend to have a greater

incidence of technical complications. It would be ideal to have an

alternative retention mechanism that combines the advantages of

the cemented with those of the screw-retained approach. It is the

purpose of this presentation to demonstrate the advantages and

limitations of cemented and screw-retained implant restorations,

and to introduce a novel implant-restorative option that combines

the positive features of the two.

“This is not just another

guided surgery course!”

The application of computer guided implant placement constitutes

a significant change n modern implantology. It is a typical example

of how medicine meets technology. Technological advantage in

diagnosis, planning, accuracy of surgery and prosthetic outcome

are changing implant dentistry by improving results and patient

comfort.

But our goal must be a combination of knowledge in technology,

biomechanics and biology in a balanced harmony and not favour

one over the other.

In the past quided surgery was often just a way to place implants

in a fast way or an oversimplified methodology that is not based on

proper clinical diagnosis and principles of healing.

This lecture will bring a new mind in quided surgery, not just on

guidance of the implant but on guidance of the biology and

mechanics of implant dentistry. Advantages for implantologist,

prosthodontist, dental lab and last but not least for the patient.

We will no longer talk about immediate loading but describe a

philosophy how to perform an instant loading-real time loading and

create a suitable biological procedure to create a passive fit of the

supra structure.

Minimally Invasive Dentistry

Minimally invasive treatment options have become the trend in

restorative in restorative dentistry. With the introduction of the new

material , the operator have more feasibility in the treatment.

The lecture will discuss different minimally invasive treatment in

aesthetic dentistry, i.e. Microabrasion, ICON, composite

restoration. The lecture will also show how to incooperate DSD in

the esthetic treatment in order to preserve tooth structure.

Solutions to make a complex

implant treatment simple

The paradigm shift in implant treatment has seen what was

essentially a surgically based procedure to now a prosthodontically

driven treatment. Added to the dilemma are patient demands for

less invasive surgical procedures, reduced costs and immediate or

early loading. By selecting site specific angled implant designs, the

reduction in the need for bone grafts will allow implants to be

placed in the ideal surgical position with ideal screw retained

prosthodontic results. The lecture will deal with solutions to make

complex implant treatment simple and predictable.

Making a Perfect Smile

at Extremely Unfavorable Conditions

Under the insufficient evaluation condition, all natural teeth were

rushed into the procedure of “standard” tooth preparation, as a

result, the patient lost her original retention of the restoration. The

mandible position was defied improperly and full mouth

reconstruction was made. With the unclear diagnosis, unnecessary

RCTs (root cannel treatment) were down on many abutment teeth.

This is a case report of an unusual case, focus on how to create

perfect smile under extremely unfavorable conditions.
