ِ يمِ ح الرِ نٰ َ مْ ح الرِ اِ مْ سِ بIhsaan through the Quran- 7th June 2015- 20th Sha’ban 1436 Surah An Naziat (Ayah 27-36) The word بناهاmeans to construct. Ayah 27-33 gives clear evidence to those denying the resurrection ( البعثنكري ضحا وا دلي مبينا تعالى ايقول) and to those who deny how Allah ىF عالF وت هF بحانF سwill bring the bodies back to life( سادFج F ل ا ادةF إع تبعديFومس). Notice that the focus is on the body though it is the soul that is more complicated. They are focused on the tangible. In ayah 27, Allah ىF عالF وت هF بحانF سaddresses all humans ( رF البش دF أش تمFءأن). Humans disbelieve and argue about it but Jinn are either yes or no, they don’t argue. On one side is our own creation, and on the other side there is the آءF مFس- are you greater in creation, or are the skies greater in creation? The آءF مF سare a great object, strong creation with splendid, beautiful height ( رF باهF ال فاعFرت وا قوي،F ال لقF والخ عظيم،F ال رمF الجذات). Allah وتعالى سبحانهcreated it. ( اَ اهَ نَ ب). This is for those who deny resurrection. He gave and answer to the question that was asked in this ayah- ‘Are you more difficult to create, or is the heaven that He constructed?’ . The سمآءis greater in creation. ( خلقا أشدالسمآء) The word رفعmeans raised. The word سمكهاmeans ceiling. It also means thickness. The word ها سواmeans to perfect and strengthen it. Surah An Naziat (Ayah 27-36)

! The word بناها means to construct.

Ayah 27-33 gives clear evidence to those denying the resurrection (يقول الله تعالى مبينا دليلا واضحا لمنكري البعث) and to those who deny how Allah ســـبحانـــه وتـــعالـــى will bring the bodies back to life( ومســـتبعدي إعـــادة الله لـــلأجـــساد). Allah .(بناها) .created it سبحانه وتعالى

This is for those who deny resurrection.

! The word رفع means raised. The word سمكها means ceiling. It also means thickness. The word سواها means to perfect and strengthen it.

He made it high in construction, far and vast. You cannot see the end of it. It is straight and not crooked. It is in perfect form from all sides. In the darkness of the night you will see brightness because of the planets in it. (جعلها عالية البناء بعيدة الفناء مستوية الارجاء مكللة فه الليلة).

! There is night and day in the sky. It is not only night or only day. Allah ســـبحانـــه وتـــعالـــى made both night and day apparent.

The word (وأغـــطش لـــيلها) means to make it dark (جـــعله مـــظلمة). The darkness goes everywhere, to all sides of the sky and darkens the face of the earth ( فــــعمت الــــظلمة جــــميع ارجــــاء الــــسماء، فــــأظــــلم وجــــه الأرض) . Then (وأخـــــرج ضــــــــــــحاهـــــا) -brings out the great light ( أظهــــــــــــــــــر فــــــــــــــــــيه الــــــــــــــــــنور الــــــــــــــــــعظيم). The light came from the sun. When the sun came, the people spread for their religious and world affairs (حين أتى بالشمس، فامتد الناس في مصالح دينهم ودنياهم).

The Qur’an mentions different descriptions for the day and night.

Allah ســــــبحانــــــه وتــــــعالــــــى made the night so dark, deep black and the days bright, clear and apparent (جــــــعل لــــــيلها .(مظلما أسود حالكا ، ونهارها مضيئا مشرقا نيرا واضحا

In our life, the ayat of the Qur’an, our salah, our sadaqa are all light for us. All the righteous good deeds take us out from the darkness of ignorance and fitnah. Our messengers are our stars who give us light to walk in our path. Darkness makes us appreciate the light. Sky is showing us the vastness of Allah ســـــــــــــــبحانـــــــــــــــه .we need to broaden our thinking and be vast , وتعالى

The alteration between night and day is a sign for us. In Surah Al Furqan, Allah سبحانه وتعالى tells us:

Night and day in succession is for us to remember or to show gratitude. Yet, we learn from other ayat that only few are grateful. Our test is to be grateful and content with what we have. We are not being tested by the earth, sun, moon, etc. Our test is our self, the people and the shaithan. In general, the container we dwell on is not our test, our test is with the contents of the container.

Ayah 29-وأغطش ليلها وأخرج ضحاهاIts night He covers with darkness, and its forenoon He brings out (with light).

ر أو أراد شكورا ن أراد أن يذك وهو الذي جعل الليل والنهار خلفة لمAnd He it is Who has put the night and the day in succession, for such who desires to remember or desires to

show his gratitude. (Surah Al Furqan 25:62)

After the creation of the skies, Allah سبحانه وتعالى preserved benefits in it. (أودع فيها منافعها). It is suiting for us to live on top of the earth and it is suiting for the dead to be buried under the earth. In Surah As-Sajdah, Allah ســـــــــبحانـــــــــه وتـــــــــعالـــــــــى tells us that the earth was created first and in this surah we are told that the earth was prepared later- there is no contradiction. Though it was created first, it was prepared later. The next ayat tell us how it was prepared.

The next ayat tell us how the earth was prepared.

He did not explain this ayah as the meaning is apparent. Allah سبحانه وتعالى brought out its water- rivers, springs, etc. and its pasture. He brought out water and food from the earth. It was already prepared and Allah ســــبحانــــه وتــــعالــــى brought it out.

The meaning of this ayah is clear- Allah سبحانه وتعالى brought out the water and pasture from the earth.

! Ayah 32 and 33 are further explanation of how the earth has been prepared. It is as if the earth was not stable and the mountains fixed the earth in place. This was after the creation of the سمآء.

The mountains are fixed in the earth ( ثــــبتها فــــي الأرض). The Qur’an is teaching us all this- we need to believe in it and not ask how it is possible.

Ayah 30-والأرض بعد ذلك دحاهاAnd after that He spread the earth;

Allah ســـــــبحانـــــــه وتـــــــعالـــــــى fixed the mountains in its place (قـــــــررهـــــــا وأثـــــــبتها فـــــــي أمـــــــاكـــــــنها). He is the All-Wise, the All-Knower, the Most Compassionate and the Most Merciful to His creation.

! Without water, pasture and stability on earth, we cannot live in peace. Allah ســـــــبحانـــــــه وتـــــــعالـــــــى ســـــــبحانـــــــه وتـــــــعالـــــــى gave us all of this in order for us to focus on our job which is worship. The sun, moon, water, animals, food are all for our benefit for us to do our job!

This ayah is not explained.

Allah ســـــبحانـــــه وتـــــعالـــــى brings out the spring and makes it flow. He makes apparent the things that are inside and has benefits (water, oil, rivers, etc.). He makes the rivers flow and makes it lively. (أنــــــــــــــبع عــــــــــــــيونــــــــــــــها وأطهــــــــــــــر .(واشجارها وثماوها وثبت جبالها) .Plants grow and trees have fruits (مكنونها وأجرى أنهارها وأنبت زروعها

Allah ســــبحانــــه وتــــعالــــى prepared all of this for the creation to dwell in duniya. Imagine what He has prepared for the believers in Jannah!. May Allah سبحانه وتعالى grant us Paradise. Ameen.

He prepared all of this so that the dwellers of the earth settle in peace and stability. (ليســـــــــــــتقر بـــــــــــــأهـــــــــــــلها). Allah doesn’t need any of this, it is for us, human beings and for the cattle. But, it is all for a ســــــــــــــــــبـحـانــــــــــــــــــه وتــــــــــــــــــعـالــــــــــــــــــىtemporary purpose. All of this is disposable, and imagine that we are attached to the disposable things! We will dwell longer in our graves than on the earth, yet we are attached to this temporary place. We need to furnish our graves with good deeds. Our graves will be dark and it our good deeds which will give it light. But most people want tangible and they want ‘now’. We need to focus on the intangible and long to get it ‘later’. Whatever Allah ســــــــــبحانــــــــــه وتــــــــــعالــــــــــى has given us in this duniya is perfect for us here, but it is not more than what has been prepared for the believers in paradise. Only Islam gives us the true enjoyment of both lives.

! After all the previous ayat for the one who is denying the resurrection and is completely indulged in the duniya, this ayah tells us that the greatest catastrophe- which is the day of resurrection will come all of a sudden.

The day of resurrection comes as great catastrophe (إذا جـاءت الـقيامـة الـكبرى). It is the greatest calamity we will witness (والشــــــــــــــدة الــــــــــــــعظمى). Any other problem is easy and minuscule compared to the calamity of the day of judgement (التي يهون عندها كل مصيبة). May Allah سبحانه وتعالى protect us all on that Great Day. Ameen.

Shaithan magnifies this temporary life and its concerns in our eyes- we should not be deceived and prepare for that day instead of being indulged in the issues of this world. The believers know the reality of this world and they know that there is a greater calamity that will come, that’s why they are not affected by worldly issues. Yusuf عــــــــليه الســــــــلام and Ya’qub عــــــــليه الســــــــلام had problems yet they did not make it a big deal because they knew there was something bigger that was coming ahead. Allah ســــــــــــــــبحانــــــــــــــــه وتــــــــــــــــعالــــــــــــــــى shows us bigger problems to make us feel like our problems are nothing in comparison.

In ouر daily lives, when our children complain to us, we feel that their issues are petty and minuscule compared to the issues we face as adults. But we need to know there is no catastrophe greater than the day of resurrection. It is overwhelming.

All the people will flee away from each other on that day, a nursing mother will drop her nursing child. Now we need to grab every opportunity to prepare for that great day and to go to paradise.

Ibn Abbas رضي الله عنه said that it will be on top of any other calamity- there is nothing greater.

When you know about this, the akhirah will be your concern. There is no problem worthy of concern more than that day. We worry about the duniya but we need to suppress ourselves, have taqwa and remind ourselves of the greater calamity that will occur. This is how to make therapy for yourself. To stress over matters of the duniya is not the way to bring solutions.

! This ayah explains what will happen on الطامة الكبرى.

بيع بن صبيح، عن يزيد بن أبان، وهو الرقاشي عن أنس بن مالك، قال قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم " من كانت حدثنا هناد، حدثنا وكيع، عن الرق عليه شمله ولم يأته من ه جعل الله فقره بين عينيه وفر ه جعل الله غناه في قلبه وجمع له شمله وأتته الدنيا وهي راغمة ومن كانت الدنيا هم الآخرة هم

" الدنيا إلا ما قدر لهAnas bin Malik narrated that the Messenger of Allah(s.a.w) said:

"Whoever makes the Hereafter his goal, Allah makes his heart rich, and organizes his affairs, and the world comes to him whether it want to or not. And whoever makes the world his goal, Allah puts his poverty right

before his eyes, and disorganizes his affairs, and the world does not come to him, except what has been decreed for him.” [Jami` at-Tirmidhi Vol. 4, Book 11, Hadith 2465]

Ayah 35- ر الإنسان ما سعى يوم يتذكThe Day when man shall remember what he strove for,

On the day of resurrection, you will remember what you did in your life (فــي الــدنــيا)- from good and bad. (مــن This is what makes that day the greatest catastrophe. Now in life we do not remember our .(خــــــــــــــــــيـر أو شــــــــــــــــــرdeeds but on that day we will remember everything. On that day, he will wish to have more good deeds (فــــــيتمنى زيــــــادة حــــــسنة) and and he will regret over the atom of sin he committed (ويــــــــــغمه ويحــــــــــزن زيــــــــــادة مــــــــــثقال ســــــــــيئة). Now in life, we should not underestimate our sins and never feel proud and content about the good deeds. We need to remember the day of judgement while we do our deeds now. The Qur’an makes us live our present with future vision. These ayat help us to overcome laziness and to grab every opportunity to prepare for that great day. We do not want to be among those regret and grieve on the day of resurrection.

What we strive for in life is very important, it is what determines our success or failure (الـــــــــــــــسعي مـــــــــــــــادة ربـــــــــــــــحه ,We need to strive to do good and not to do sin. Everything we have in the duniya will be cut off .(وخســـــــــــرانـــــــــــهonly our deeds will remain with us.

The money, people, etc. will not come on the day of resurrection- but how the money was spent, how people were dealt with- these are what will be taken to account. Now in life, we tend to remember how others dealt will us, but on that day we will remember how we dealt with others.

The son of Adam will remember all the good and evil deeds he did.

The Hell-fire will be made apparent for its dwellers (جـعلها ظـاهـرة لأهـلها). Not every body can see it, but I need to worry and strive in order I do not see it. To see the torment before experiencing it is a torment by itself. The word بـرزت means it will be apparent for its dwellers. It will be ready to seize and take them. Hell-fire is angry with them for the sake of Allah سبحانه وتعالى and is waiting for His command (منتظرة لأمر ربها).

د بن عمرو بن حزم الأنصاري قال سمعت حدثنا سويد بن نصر، أخبرنا عبد الله بن المبارك، عن سفيان بن عيينة، عن عبد الله بن أبي بكر، هو ابن محم أنس بن مالك، يقول قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم " يتبع الميت ثلاث فيرجع اثنان ويبقى واحد يتبعه أهله وماله وعمله فيرجع أهله وماله ويبقى

. عمله " . قال أبو عيسى هذا حديث حسن صحيحAnas bin Malik narrated that the Messenger of Allah سبحانه وتعالى (S.a.w) said:

"Three follow the deceased, two of them return, and one remains. He is followed by his family, his wealth, and his deeds. So his family and his wealth returns, and his deeds remain.” [Jami` at-Tirmidhi 2379]

Ayah 36- وبرزت الجحيم لمن يرىAnd Hell-fire shall be made apparent in full view for (every) one who sees,

Hellfire is being shown to the people and they see it with their eyes. (أظهرت للناظرين)

Also, some people see Allah سبحانه وتعالى and others don’t even though He is apparent.
