I was born in Ecuador and lived there until I was three in a large brick house built by my father and designed by my mother. It was a house in the middle of no where, we had no running water nor electricity and yet my mother raised me and my two brothers there. My most vivid memories are sitting in the large fireplace all covered in ash or trying to catch insects crawling in the flowers in the greenhouse or just sitting on the kitchen floor watching my mother. Then we moved to Tunisia where we stayed in a house with a large garden and a crazy dog, when-ever friends would come over we would spend the entire time running from one side of the garden to the other, trying not to get pounced on by “Spooky” the dog. Three years later we moved to Spain, there we lived in a 4 story tower and on weekend mornings
my brothers and I would take a mat-tress and slide down all four flights of stairs. When we lived in Colombia our house had an attic in which we would spend hours upon hours building Lego. In Costa Rica we were fortunate in that we got the opportunity to build a house using traditional adobe blocks. So guess who had to make the 10,000 bricks it took to build the house, well us kids!I studied industrial design and I’m inspired by architecture. I have built domes with CalEarth, have designed emergency shelters with the UN, worked with alternative energy tech-nologies and all of this without forget-ting to have a little fun on the way!

These cabins are inspired upon the concept coined by the architect William McDonough known as Cradle to Cradle. It states that any of the material used in the design of a product can be integrated into a biological or technical cycle at the end of the products lifetime. These cabins are designed to take advantage of the local resources available such as the sunlight and wind to generate power for the six apartments. These also have a natural waste water treatment system, passive ventilation and a low physical and visual environmental impact. Thanks to the green roof's insulating qualities the inside temperature is always comfortable and the rain water harvest setup allows the users to become independent from the municipal water grid.

This log cabin was designed taking into consideration the wood of a tree that had fallen many years ago during a storm. From this one tree we were able to get enough wood for the entire house. This house will also include a live green roof, natural grey water treatment system, solar water heater and a composting toilette.

Redesign UN emergency shelter
This project arose when at the beginning of 2009 after an earthquake left hundreds of people without homes. I was asked to help the UN Habitat o�ces here in Costa Rica by designing an emergency shelter adequate for the climate and conditions of the area. So alongside them, and the ministry of housing, I developed this prototype. A structure that is partly prefab and the other part low tech onsite building with sand bags. The idea behind this prototype is for it to be easy enough to build that anybody can be a part of the process but at the same time o�er a digni�ed temporary living alternative.

3d modelling super adobe
This is a 3D modeling project done for CalEarth Institute of Art Earth Technology located in California. I had the opportunity to become an apprentice at this institute for over a month and thus learnt this great alternative building technique. This speci�c model here is their main attraction; it is known as Earth One and is built completely with a system called Super Adobe, developed by Iranian architect Nader Kahlili. Part of this project was to create animated views of these houses.

This was my graduation project for university and is a hydraulic adobe brick pressed designed to improve and standardize the quality of adobe bricks used for rural construc-tion. This product will decrease the duration of the build, the physical strain on the workers and increase the structural integrity of the building.

Structural solar water heaters
The purpose of this project was to illustrate what the solar water heater system would look like on the roof of a upscale hotel. The hotel required a total of 52 solar water heaters which needed to be installed facing south (because Costa Rica is north of the equator) to receive the highest percentage of sunlight during the day and at an angle of 10 to 15 degrees.It is also important that this system does not a�ect the overall aesthetics of the facade of the building.

The capital of Costa Rica, San José is a city in which everybody works but nobody lives. This has happened over the years due to insecurity, noise, pollution, hard to get around and general. I have been working with a couple friends to �nd a solution to some of these problems using bicycles. To do this we are o�ering home or work food and grocery delivery service, bike messengers and pedicabs. These are the logos I designed for this project; it was inspired on traditional Costa Rican patterns which are used to decorate ox carts.

Product bread maker
Automatic breadmaker inspired on a traditional oven by incorporating a view glass, and a horizontal door. All the settings on the control panel are visible and are organized in a logical manner that leads the user through a four part process to start making bread. These are all touch sensitive and are dust and liquid proof, this of course taking into consideration how messy things can get when you´re cooking!
