Azerbaijan is a major crude oil producer (26th world ranking in 2016) and a signif-icant producer of natural gas. Because of this large hydrocarbon production, it has one of the highest energy self-sufficiency ratios in the world: the country energy production is more than four times its energy demand.
Azerbaijan was the 17th largest crude oil exporter in 2016 of 35 million tonnes in-cluding natural gas liquids.
