The whole production is based in France.

Composing with Christian Girard’s heritage, Azimut Industries is taking a new contemporary direction in-cluding new LED solutions.

‘‘Light is a magic wand ; the lighting must be mobile and modifiable, depending on one’s needs and de-sires, all that really matters is ambience and the beauty of a woman.’’ Christian Girard

The designer’s true inspiration from commercial il-luminations led him to create these lighting atmos-pheres. Hence the General Electric light bulb PAR 36 provided the basis for his mobile spotlight, which he conceived in 1969. The spotlight is mobile by means of a magnet that can rotate around a metallic demis-phere. The principle of magnetic linking creates an ‘‘tous azimuts’’ (all-out) revolution.Chritian Girard rose to fame at the beginning of the 60’s when hundreds of Azimut spotlights were installed in lines on rails in shops and night-clubs throughout Paris.

Through his architecture agency, Christian Girard originally created spotlights which he utilized in his own installations; later, he offered them to a select group of colleagues. Originally created for professio-nals, these items were never to be commercialised. Christian Girard stated that these spotlights were his tradmark.

Pour réaliser ces ambiances lumineuses, le créateur s’inspire de la scénographie. C’est sur la base de l’ampoule PAR 36 de General Electric qu’il conçoit en 1969, un spot orientable tous axes par le biais d’un aimant. Ce principe de fixation magnétique permet une révolution tous azimuts. Dans les boutiques de prêt-à-porter et les night-clubs qui font sa notoriété au début des années 60, des centaines de spots Azimut sont disposés en ligne sur des rampes techniques.

Au sein de son agence d’architecture, Christian Girard fait fabriquer ces spot pour ses propres réalisations et les diffuse à quelques amis architectes triés sur le vo-let. Créés pour des professionnels, ces apparreil n’ont jamais été distribués, ‘‘Ces spots étaient ma signture’’ disait-il lui-même.Aujourd’hui Azimut édite une gamme complete de lu-minaires à usage professionnel. Le traitement esthé-tique de ce spot résolument contemporain permet la mise en valeur des restaurants, des exposition, des boutiques et des clubs.

February 2, (1926 - 2008), Christian Girard was born in Toulouse. 1944, he joins the free forces of the Frence Army. 1946/47 he becomes chief decorator of the Frence occupation troops in Germany. 1949 he creates his agency in Paris.

1962, he’s introduced to Maurice Casanova, during their collaboration are created the Le Bilboquet, Le Bistingo, L’aquavit et La Discothèque, fashionable places of the Parisian night. 1963, he decorates the apartments of Eddy Barclay and of Johnny Hallyday. 1964, Christian Girard marries the German actress Elga Andersen in Vienna, Curt Jurgens is their wit-ness. 1966, he creates the Groupe Verseau with the composer lannis Xenakis, the designers Paco Ra-banne, Ungaro, the sculptor César, the hairdresser Alexandre, the architects Paul Maymont, Christian Philippe and the play-writer Arrabal. From 1965 to the end of the 70’s, he conceives a number of Parisian shops, precursory of today’s ‘‘concept stores’’: Knap, Hit Parade, Casanova, B 33, Farenheit, Jns 3, Bulle, Penthouse, Vroom, Holywood Boulevard...

1975, he designs a shopping centre in Rueil-Malmai-son: 7 300 m², 32 stores on 2 levels. From 1978 to the end of the 80’s, Christian Girard designs a great deal of the Parisian night clubs, Le Francois 1er, Le Soleil Noir, L’apocalypse, Le Garage, Le Central, Le Studio 102, Le Queen.

Le 2 février(1926-2008), Christian Girard naît à Tou-louse. 1944, il rejoint les forces libres de l’armée française. 1946/47, il devient décorateur en chef des troupes d’occupation françaises en Allemagne. En 1949, il crée son agence à Paris.

En 1962, il fait la connaissance de Maurice Casa-nova ; de leur collaboration naissent Le Bilboquet, Le Bistingo, L’aquavit et La Discotheque, hauts lieux des nuit parisiennes. En 1963, il réhabilite les appar-tements d’Eddy Barclay et de Johnny Hallyday. En 1964, il se marie à vienne à l’actrice allemande Elga Andersen, Curt jurgens est leur témoin. En 1966, il crée le Groupe Verseau avec le compositeur Lannis Xenakis, les stylistes Paco Rabanne et Ungaro, le sculpteur César, le coiffeur Alexandre, les architectes Paul Maymont et Christian Philippe, le dramaturge Ar-rabal. Courant 1975, il conçoit le centre commercial de Rueil-Malmaison : 7 300 m², 32 magasins sur plu-sieurs niveaux. De 1978 à la fin des années 80, il réalise une grande partie des boites de nuits pa-risiennes, Le Francois 1er, Le Club Olivia Valere, Le Soleil Noir, L’apocalypse, Le Garage, Le Central, Le Studio 102, Le Queen.

The Azimut light is mobile by means of a magnet that can rotate around a metal-lic demi-sphere, which serves both as a receptacle for the transformer and a support for the projector. The principle of magnetic linking creates an «tous azi-muts» (all-out) revolution.

In Addition to technological choices and phasing out of incandescent light bulb for LED, AZIMUT Industries cares about impacts generated by its activity. In selecting 98% recyclable materials, reducing gas emissions by group trans-portation and a local production based in France. Le projecteur est mobile à l’aide d’un aimant se déplaçant sur une demi-sphère métallique, qui sert à la fois de réceptacle pour le transformateur et de support au projecteur. ce principe de fixation magnétique permet une mobi-lité tous azimuts.

INSTALLATION - This work is to be done by a qualified electrician.

o Models AZIMUT MONOPRO™ 360°, BIPRO™ 360°, TOUCH™ 360° are table lamps provided with a power cord but it can also be wall mounted, in this case, the power cord will have to be withdrawn.1-2. Withdraw the base using a broad straight screwdriver, remove the transformer and connect the power supply emerging from the wall.3-4-5. Position the base. Break one of the 4 pastilles at the bottom, screw the base to the wall and connect the power supply to the screw connectorof the transformer, clip the metal base of the spot to the plastic base.

INSTALLATION - Ces travaux sont à réaliser par un électricien qualifié.

o Les séries AZIMUT MONOPRO™ 360°, BIPRO™ 360°, TOUCH™ 360° sont des lampes de table, livrées avec un câble secteur mais peuvent également être fixées en applique.1-2. retirer la base à l’aide d’un large tournevis droit, enlevez le transformateur.3-4-5. Positionnez la base. Briser une des 4 pastilles du fond, vissez la base au mur et reliez l’alimentation au connecteur à vis du transformateur,clipser la base métallique du spot sur le fond en plastique.

INSTALLATION – This work must be done by a qualified electrician.

o The models AZIMUT MONOPROTRACK™ 360°, BIPROTRACK™ 360°, PENDANTRACK™ 180° are track lamps. The products are to be fixed on rail in accordance with the following procedure:1. Position the guide of the fixing system in line with the rail groove.2. Fit the lamp into the groove and lock the two oblong cams. The locking direction is pre-fixed by the fitting of the rail and enables the powerfeeding to the lamp to be cut off.3. It is possible to adjust the basic position (4 positions) of the fixing system in relation to the base and the cables exit (see diagram).


o The AZIMUT FLATPRO 180° all series are recessed lamps, designed to be fixed by a central screw on a derivation claw case sunk in a BA13 plaster support. In order to prevent the rotation of the metal square, the latter is fixed to the support with 4 double adhesive pastilles in the 4 corners.o Important: this product must be used only with a transformer with a power suiting the number and the power of the light sources.1-2. Sink the derivation claw case into the wall or ceiling in BA13, fit out a 12V exit from the trans-former adjusted to the recommended power.3. Engage feeding cable or cables into the corresponding hole or holes, and then position the 4 double adhesive pastilles on the corners of the metalsquare on the label side.4. Position the lamp on its final place and screw the central screw into the central spot of the derivation claw case.


o Les séries AZIMUT MONOPROTRACK™ 360°, BIPROTRACK™ 360°, PENDANTRACK™ 180°sont des lampes sur rails. Les produits se fixent sur rail suivant la procédure suivante :1. Positionner le détrompeur du système de fixation en regard de la fente du rail.2. Appliquer le luminaire dans la fente et verrouillez les deux cames oblongues. Le sens de ver-rouillage est déterminé par le montage du rail etpermet la mise hors tension du luminaire.3. Il est possible de régler la position de base (4 positions) du système de fixation par rapport à celle de la base et de la sortie des câbles(voir schéma)


o Les séries AZIMUT FLATPRO 180° sont des lampes encastrables, prévues pour être fixé par une vis centrale sur un boîtier de dérivation à griffe encastré sur un support de type BA13. Afin d’em-pêcher la rotation de la tôle support celle-ci est fixée au support par 4 pastilles adhésives doubles face aux 4 coins.o Important : Ce produit ne doit être employé qu’avec le recommandé .1-2. Encastrer le boîtier de dérivation à griffe dans le mur ou plafond en BA13, connecter le trans-formateur au secteur, aménager la sortie3. Faire passer le ou les câbles d’alimentations secondaires dans le ou les trous prévus à cet effet, puis positionner les 4 pastilles adhésives doublefaces aux coins de la tôle carré coté étiquette.4. Positionner le luminaire à son emplacement définitif et visser la vis centrale dans le plot central du boîtier de dérivation .
