fundamental to increasing quality of life and years of healthy life. Roughly 25 percent of all deaths and the total disease burden can be attributed to environmental factors.
A healthy environment for all is a goal of Healthy People 2020. This includes outdoor air quality, surface and ground water quality, toxic substances and hazardous wastes, homes and communities, infrastructure and surveillance, and global environmental health.
