• George Herman Ruth was born February 6, 1895 in Baltimore Maryland. When he was 7 years-old he would throw tomatoes at cops.

• In 1914, it was Babe Ruth’s first year in the Major Leagues. In 1914 he picked up the name “Babe” Ruth as a young player for the Baltimore Orioles of the International League. Other players began referring to him as the newest “babe’’ of Jack Dunn the Orioles owner.

• In 1915, Babe Ruth hit his first home run. In 1919, he hit the most home runs ever-29. In 1920, he was sold to the Yankees. In that year something bad happed to baseball. Some White Sox players cheated and people found out about it.

• The New York Yankees singed Babe Ruth to a two-year contract worth $160,000 in 1930.

• Babe Ruth was a pitcher and pitchers don’t hit a lot. He promised that he would hit 50 or more home runs. When asked how to hit home runs, this is how he would respond. “I swing as hard as I can … I swing big, with every thing I’ve got. I hit big or miss as big as I can’’-Babe Ruth

• He Died on August 16, 1948 at the age 53.
