    GAUGE:

    16 sc = 4 in. (10 cm) with A. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the

    gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materialsspecified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you less stitches and rows to make a 4

    in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a

    larger size hook or needles.

    STITCH EXPLANATION:

    hdc2tog (hdc decrease) Yarn over, insert hook into st and draw up a loop. Insert hook into next st

    and draw up a loop. Yarn over, draw through all 4 loops on hook.

    16 sts.Work 1 rnd sc evenly spaced around entire outside edge of Bib. Fasten off.

    EYES (make 2)With B, ch 2.

    Rnd 1: Work 6 sc in first ch. Fasten off.

    BEAK (make 2)With C, ch 2.Rnd 1: Work 6 sc in first chain. Place marker in first st for beg of rnd; move marker up as each rnd is completed.

    Work in continuous rnds, do not join or turn.Rnd 2: Work 2 sc in each sc around 12 sts at end of rnd.Rnd 3: *2 sc in next st, sc in next st, rep from * around 18 sts.Rnd 4: *2 sc in next st, sc in each of next 2 sts, rep from * around 24 sts.Rnd 5: *2 sc in next st, sc in each of next 3 sts, rep from * around 30 sts. Fasten off.

    TIES (make 2)From right side, join A with slip st at one upper corner of Bib. Ch 40. Fasten off. Rep on opposite corner.

    FINISHINGFold beak in half to form semi-circle and sew closed with C, stuffing as you sew. Sew Eyes and Beak to Bib. Weave inends.
