Professional accreditation
Accounting major graduates will meet the educational entrance requirements of CPA Australia and CharteredAccountants Australia and New Zealand (CAANZ). This provides Associate membership of CPA Australia,eligibility to study the CPA Australia professional exams and eligibility to study the CAANZ professionalexams.
Accounting major students who complete a Finance minor will meet the educational entrance requirementsof the Financial Services Institute of Australasia (Finsia).
Successful completion of the Accounting major can qualify students for exemptions from the Fundamentallevel (9 papers) of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) exams.
Finance major graduates will meet the educational entrance requirements to become a member of the FinancialServices Institute of Australasia (Finsia).
The Information Technology Management major is accredited at professional level by the Australian ComputerSociety and, through the Seoul Accord, is recognised in other countries.
Program aimsThis program aims to provide students with specific knowledge and skills relevant to their disciplines andcareers. This program satisfies the educational entrance requirements for membership of relevant professionalbodies.

Program objectivesAt the completion of the program, students should be able to:
● demonstrate strong communication skills● identify, analyse and solve problems in different decision contexts● think constructively and logically● make effective and creative use of modern technologies● acquire specific knowledge and skills relevant to their major study areas● demonstrate an understanding of the principles of accounting, finance, economics and business law● satisfy educational entrance requirement of relevant professional bodies.
Australian Qualifications FrameworkThe Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) is a single national, comprehensive system of qualificationsoffered by higher education institutions (including universities), vocational education and training institutionsand secondary schools. Each AQF qualification has a set of descriptors which define the type and complexityof knowledge, skills and application of knowledge and skills that a graduate who has been awarded thatqualification has attained, and the typical volume of learning associated with that qualification type.
This program is at AQF Qualification Level 07. Graduates at this level will have broad and coherent knowledgeand skills for professional work and/or further learning.

Admission requirementsTo be eligible for admission, applicants must satisfy the following requirements:
Year 12 English [4,SA] or equivalent is required.
Current skills at the level of Queensland Senior Secondary School Studies Maths A (4,SA) or equivalent isassumed.
Admission to the Bachelor of Commerce is in accordance with University's Admissions Policy for undergraduateprograms.
All students are required to satisfy the applicable English language requirements.
If students do not meet the English language requirements they may apply to study a University-approvedEnglish language program. On successful completion of the English language program, students may beadmitted to an award program.
Program fees
Commonwealth supported placeA Commonwealth supported place is where the Australian Government makes a contribution towards the costof a students' higher education and students pay a student contribution amount, which varies depending onthe courses undertaken. Students are able to calculate the fees for a particular course via the Course FeeFinder.
Commonwealth Supported students may be eligible to defer their fees through a Government loan calledHECS-HELP.

Domestic full fee paying placeDomestic full fee paying places are funded entirely through the full fees paid by the student. Full fees varydepending on the courses that are taken. Students are able to calculate the fees for a particular course via theCourse Fee Finder.
Domestic full fee paying students may be eligible to defer their fees through a Government loan called FEE-HELP provided they meet the residency and citizenship requirements.
Australian citizens, Permanent Humanitarian Visa holders, Permanent Resident visa holders and New Zealandcitizens who will be resident outside Australia for the duration of their program pay full tuition fees and arenot eligible for FEE-Help.
International full fee paying placeInternational students pay full fees. Full fees vary depending on the courses that are taken and whether theyare studied on-campus, via distance education/online. Students are able to calculate the fees for a particularcourse via the Course Fee Finder.

The purpose of the core courses is toexpose business students to fundamental concepts and methods and the diversity of subject matter that theywill encounter in their studies. The functional areas of business are identified and elementary tools leading toa focus in the majors are developed.

Major studiesAll students in the Bachelor of Commerce must complete at least one major study. A major study is a set ofcourses that make up a coherent, in-depth study of a specific discipline.
Double major studies
Students may choose to complete a second major from undergraduate degree programs in Business and Law,except the General Commerce major, or from the undergraduate degree programs in another area at theUniversity of Southern Queensland. A program in which there is a first and second major is known as a 'doublemajor'. Where a second major from another area contains less than 8 units, students must complete extraelective units, chosen from undergraduate courses offered at the University of Southern Queensland to ensurethat their program contains 24 units in total.
Students may also undertake a second major from the Bachelor of Business or Bachelor of Arts. Examplesof second majors include Legal Studies, Journalism, International Relations, Marketing or Human ResourceManagement.

Exit pointsStudents must maintain good standing in this program (see Other program requirements section). Studentsnot wishing to complete the Bachelor of Commerce program may be permitted to exit with either the Diplomaof Business Administration or the Associate Degree of Business.
Students may exit with the Diploma of Business Administration if they have completed 8 courses as follows:
● 4 core courses from the Bachelor of Business, Bachelor of Commerce, or Bachelor of Business Administration, and a further 4 Business and Commerce courses.
Students may exit with the Associate Degree of Business if they have completed 16 courses as follows:
● 8 core courses from the Bachelor of Business or Bachelor of Commerce, and● any 8 courses from within the Bachelor of Business, Bachelor of Commerce or Bachelor of Business
Administration.
CreditCandidates for admission to the Bachelor of Commerce program may be eligible for up to 16 units of crediton the basis of successful completion of relevant, equivalent undergraduate study from a recognised universityor institution offering equivalent study. Credit approved in this program will not automatically apply to otherprograms offered by USQ. Students studying accounting should note that professional bodies such as the CPAAustralia andCAANZ advanced standing policies are more restrictive so students are advised to seek currentinformation from these bodies before applying for credit.
Claims for credit for previous study should be submitted prior to or at the time of enrolment. Each claim willbe assessed on individual merit in line with USQ policy.

Note: Where credit is granted, maximum and minimum duration will be adjusted in the same proportion ascredit, for example, where eight units of credit is granted, maximum time will be six years and minimum timewill be four semesters.
Recommended enrolment patternsStudents are able to enrol in any offered mode of a course (on-campus, external or online), regardless of theprogram mode of study they enrolled in.
Given the program structure information, students should plan their enrolment making sure that they havefulfilled all core, major, minor and elective requirements. Enrolment requirements must be satisfied beforeenrolling in a course.
As a guide, full-time students should plan to undertake 8 courses per year and online students, who are inemployment, a maximum of 6 courses per year, with a minimum of 4 courses per year. This is exclusive ofany semester 3 enrolments.
Courses are normally offered on-campus and externally in the same semester. If a course is offered twice inone year, the second offering will normally be on an external basis only.
