1. ABOUT NATIONAL COUNCIL FOR HOTEL MANAGEMENT National Council for Hotel Management & Catering Technology is an autonomous body under Ministry of Tourism, Government of India. The Council centrally regulates academics for B.Sc. Hospitality and Hotel Administration and other eleven structured courses of studies that are imparted at the existing 21Central Institutes of Hotel Management, 8 State Govt. Institutes of Hotel Management, 12 Private Institutes of Hotel Management affiliated with NCHMCT. Six Food Craft Institutes located in different parts in the country offer Diploma programs in specific operational area. All Institutes uniformly follow standardized course curricula prescribed by the Council for the different professional program. Quality of education and training provided by the Institutes help students to emerge as professionally qualified personnel for hospitality and other allied service sectors. The Council has till date trained more than 43000 Hospitality Managers, Executives and other operational personnel. Its alumni from affiliated Institutes occupy key positions in hospitality industry and in teaching institutions both in India and abroad. 2. ABOUT THE B.Sc. HOSPITALITY & HOTEL ADMINISTRATION PROGRAMME The Bachelor of Science program in Hospitality and Hotel Administration is offered jointly by the National Council for Hotel Management and the Indira Gandhi National Open University. The Three‐Year (Six Semesters) program equips students with all the required skills, knowledge and attitude to efficiently discharge supervisory responsibilities in the Hospitality sector. The program also involves in‐depth laboratory work for students to acquire required knowledge and skills standards in the operational areas of Food Production, Food and Beverage Service, Front Office Operation and House Keeping and providing managerial inputs in Hotel Accountancy, Food Safety and Quality, Human Resource Management, Facility Planning, Financial Management, Strategic Management, Tourism Marketing and Tourism Management. 3. 4. ELIGIBILITY FOR ADMISSION 4.1 Minimum Qualification
Minimum qualification for admission is a pass in the examination of 10+2 system of Senior Secondary education or its equivalent with English as one of the compulsory subject. Those appearing in 10+2 or equivalent examination can also appear in JEE 2010 shall also be considered on provisional basis. Provisional admissions will stand cancelled if proof of having passed the qualifying examination (10+2 or its equivalent) is not submitted at the time of counselling or at the time of admission. Admissions will be subject to verification of facts from the original certificates/ documents to be produced by the candidates at the time of admission in Institute. Even after admission to an Institute, if an applicant is at a later date found ineligible on account of having submitted false information or testimonials or for having suppressed any material information, his/her admission will be cancelled and the fee paid will also be forfeited. Decision of National Council in this regard shall be final. List of approved qualifying examinations for Indian Students • Plus two level examination in the 10+2 pattern of Senior Secondary education of any recognized Central/
State Board, such as Central Board of Secondary Education and Council for Indian School Certificate Examination or State Boards of Secondary Education.
• Intermediate or two‐year Pre‐University Examination conducted by a recognized Board/ University. • General Certificate Education (GCE) Examination (London/ Cambridge/ Sri Lanka) at the Advanced (A) level. • High School Certificate Examination of the Cambridge University. • Any Public School/ Board/ University Examination in India or in foreign countries recognized by the
Association of Indian Universities as equivalent to 10+2 pattern of Senior Secondary education. • H.S.C. Vocational Examination. • Senior Secondary School Examination conducted by the National Open School with a minimum of five
subjects including English as one of the Subjects. 4.2 Age Limit For candidates from General and OBC categories upper age limit is 22 years as on 1.7. 2010, only those candidates whose date of birth falls on or after July 01, 1988 are eligible. In the case of Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe candidates upper age limit is 25 years as on 1.7.2010, only those SC / ST candidates whose date of birth falls on or after July 01, 1985 will be eligible. Upper age limit for Physically Challenged candidates shall be reckoned as per the category he/she belongs to since Physically Challenged category candidates may belong to General/SC/ST/OBC category. Date of birth as recorded in the Secondary Education Board/ Pre‐University Certificate is the only authentic proof that will be accepted. At the time of Counselling, this certificate must be produced in original as a proof of age, failing which the candidate will not be considered for counselling/admissions. 4.3 Physical Fitness All qualified candidates will have to submit a physical fitness certificate from a Registered Medical Practitioner in the prescribed format given in this Brochure at the time of admission.

5.2 Allotment of seats to Institutes
In order to take care of dropouts and no‐shows, 5% extra candidates over and above the intake will be allotted to affiliated Institutes of Hotel Management. Number of seats indicated at 5.1 are inclusive of 5% extra seats.
5.3 Reservation for Scheduled Caste/ Scheduled Tribe and OBC Candidates
15%, 7.5% and 27 % seats will be reserved for candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe and OBC categories (Central list), respectively. Seats remaining vacant in SC & ST categories shall not be filled by candidates belonging to any other categories whereas seats remaining vacant under OBC may be filled up from General Category during second round of Counselling.
5.4 Document required in support of claim for reservation under SC , ST and OBC categories
The certificate of SC,ST & OBC category is required to be issued by District Magistrate/ Additional District Magistrate/ Collector/ Deputy Commissioner/ Additional Deputy Commissioner/ Deputy Collector/ 1st Class Stipendiary Magistrate/ City Magistrate/ Sub‐Divisional Magistrate/ Additional Chief Presidency Magistrate/ Presidency Magistrate/ Revenue Officer not below the rank of Tehsildar/ Sub‐Divisional Officer of the area where the candidate and / or his/ her family normally resides/ Administrator/ Secretary to Administrator/ Development Officer (Lakshadweep Island). Certificate issued by any other authority will not be accepted. Candidates are required to produce the original Cast Certificate along with attested copy at the time of Counselling as well as at the time of admission at the Institute.
5.5 OBC candidates (non‐creamy layer) 27% reservation of seats are available for OBC (Other Backward Class) (non‐creamy layer) candidates in 21
Central Institutes of Hotel Management only who are having certificate in prescribed format for admission to Central Institutes only. Those candidates who are listed in Central list of OBC only are eligible for admission under the reservation of OBC in Central Institutes of Hotel Management. For detailed OBC list, candidates may visit website of http//ncbc.nic.in/backward‐classes/index‐html and for definition of non‐creamy layer visit website: http://ncbc.nic.in/html/creamylayerhtml Prescribed format of OBC Certificate is given in this Brochure for reference. Certificate of OBC other than the prescribed format or Caste not falling under the Central list shall not be considered for reservation under OBC Category. The OBC certificate should be current and not more than one year old and should be issued in favour of candidate.
5.6 Reservation for Physically Challenged Candidate 3% reservation of seat shall be provided across the board for Physically Challenged candidate. 5.7 Who qualify for admission under Physically Challenged Candidates (a) Orthopedically Challenged Candidates
Only those Orthopedically Challenged candidates who have locomotion disability or cerebral palsy with locomotion impairment of minimum of 40% and maximum of 75% falling in the following categories are eligible to apply. B.L. – Both Legs affected but not arms. O.A. – One Arm affected (R or L) a. Impaired reach b. Weakness of grip c. Ataxia O.L. – One Leg affected (Right or Left) M.W. – Muscular Weakness and limited Physical endurance.

(b) Visually Challenged Candidates: Only those visually challenged candidates who suffer from any one of the following conditions are eligible to apply. i. Visual acuity not exceeding 6/60 or 20/200 (Swollen) in the better eye with correcting lenses. ii. Limitation of the field of vision subtending an angle of 20 degree or worse. ( c) Hearing Impaired Candidates Only those Hearing impaired candidates having disability between 40% to 75% shall be eligible. (d) Learning Disability (Dyslexia) Subject to availability of seat after adjusting all the admission to other admissible disable category under section 2(i) of PWD Act, 1995. Medical Certificate issuing Authority for Physically Challenged Candidates At the time of submission of application, Physically Handicapped candidates will be required to necessarily attach the copy of Physically Handicapped Certificate issued by Chief Medical Officer(CMO) Central Govt./ State Govt./ Municipal Corporation run Hospitals only. Such candidates are required to produce the original Medical Certificate both at the time of Counselling and at the time of Admission to the Institute. In case of any dispute in determining the eligibility under PH Category, the matter will be referred to Ministry of Social Justice, Govt. of India and decision of the said Ministry will be binding on both parties. 5.8 Reservation for Kashmiri Migrant (Subject to notification from Ministry of HRD for academic session 2010‐2011)
One seat (Supernumerary) in each affiliated IHM is provided for Registered Kashmiri Migrants. Such applicants shall have to qualify the JEE‐2010. Candidates registered with different State Govt. should produce proof of registration in original at the time of Counselling and at the time of admission to the Institutes. 5.9 Important Information
• Admission to first year of B.Sc. Hospitality & Hotel Administration program is strictly based on the All India Rank earned by the candidate.
• Ranks are strictly based on the marks obtained by the candidate in written examination. • Counselling involves checking of eligibility of candidates, verification of documents, depositing of counselling
and other fee and opportunity for choice of Institutes as available at the time of his/her ranking. Candidates should give as many choices after careful evaluation of Institute based on information available in their respective websites.
• Allotment of Institute shall be as per merit and choice of Institute. • No group discussion, no interviews are involved hence all candidates should be aware of touts who may
mislead candidates or their parents unnecessarily.
6. ABOUT THE JOINT ENTRANCE EXAMINATION

6.2 Language of Question Paper Question Paper will be bilingual i.e. in English and Hindi (except for English Language). 6.3 Marking Scheme for JEE Written Test For each question the candidate will be awarded one mark if he/she has darkened only one bubble corresponding to the correct answer. In case he/she has not darkened any bubble or has darkened more than one bubble, he/she will be awarded zero mark for that question. There will be negative marking to the extent of half mark for darkening a wrong bubble. There will be no negative marking for Aptitude for Service Sector, however, each question in this section carries marks of 0.25; 0.50; 0.75 and 1.00.
6.4 Merit List
All India merit list of candidates shall be prepared with a unique rank on the basis of marks secured in the Written Test as well as other factors taking into account i.e. marks obtained in English component, Service Aptitude component.
6.5 Tie‐breaking In case of tie in All India Rank, marks obtained in secondary examination or equivalent / date of birth of the candidates shall be taken in to account for tie‐breaking and allotment of Institute of Hotel Management shall be made accordingly. 6.6 Result of Written Test Result of Written Test shall be announced on the Council’s web site in the 4th week of May, 2010. 6.7 Allotment of seats through on‐line on‐campus Counselling NCHMCT shall conduct on‐line on‐campus Counselling at 11 Centers viz. NCHMCT, NOIDA, IHM‐ Delhi‐Pusa, DIHM‐Lajpat Nagar, IHM‐Mumbai, IHM‐Chennai, IHM‐ Kolkata, Dr. Ambedkar IHM‐Chandigarh, IHM‐ Hyderabad, IHM‐ Jaipur, IHM‐ Bhopal and IHM‐Guwahati. NCHMCT reserves the right to add or delete any Counselling Center referred herein. For familiarization purpose, mock counselling viz., off‐campus on‐line counselling shall be held in the first week of June 2010. Applicants can participate in this mock counselling for familiarization from their home or cyber cafes.

Process of Counselling (Ist Round) i) Registration at counselling centre. (Please note the address of your counselling centre by downloading
counselling call letter) and note other details contained therein.
ii) Verification of eligibility criteria (10+2 or equivalent pass certificate with English as a subject), Age as prescribed for Secondary College; Category verification as per certificate specified in the brochure.

iii) Deposit Rs.9000/‐ as part fee through DD drawn in favour of National Council for Hotel Management and Catering Technology payable at NOIDA or Delhi. Also deposit Counselling fee of Rs.1000/‐(non‐refundable) through another DD drawn in favour of NCHMCT, payable at NOIDA or Delhi. Both the DDs should bear the name and JEE Roll No. of the candidate on the back of demand drafts. After depositing the DDs, the candidate should obtain computerized receipt for the same from the counselling centre.
iv) Carefully observe seats availability for different categories on the screen display at counselling centre and accordingly candidate should fill choices of Institutes in order of their preference. Before leaving counselling centre, please ensure to cross check that computerized slip generated indicates the choices exercised by the candidate. Hostel availability should also be checked from websites of affiliated Institutes before coming to counselling centre, so that candidates can also give their option for hostel accordingly.
6.8 Allotment of Institute
Allotment of Institute shall be made by next day morning. Candidates can download the same from www. nchm.nic in. and deposit balance of first semester fee at the Counselling centre or nearest counseling center by or before 28.06.2010(working days only) and also submit willingness for upgradation of Institutes in the Second round of Counselling, if so desire.
6.9 Second and Final round of Counselling: There shall be second and final round of Counselling after completion of the admission of candidates at the allotted Institutes on 6th July, 2010 to fill up vacant seats, if any. Details of vacancies shall be available on website www.nchm.nic.in . Candidates need not report physically for second round of counseling. The seats will be allotted as per the vacancies and candidates are required to download the allotment letter through website only. No physical intimation in this regard will be made by the Council.
Who is eligible for Second round of Counselling ? i) Candidates who have exercised option of Institute(s) as per their AIR in the Ist round of Counselling but could
not be allotted seat at any of the Institutes opted for and also did not withdraw their Counselling Fee; ii) Candidates who have allotted seat in the Ist round of Counselling but did not either reported for admission at
the allotted Institute by the cut‐off date and did not withdraw their Counselling fee shall also be considered for Second round of Counselling as per choice already preferred by them in the Ist round of Counselling;
iii) Candidates who have completed on‐line on‐campus admission process in the first round of Counselling and also submitted their willingness in a prescribed format during Ist round of Counselling for upgradation of choice of Institute in the second round of Counselling shall be considered as against vacant seat, if any in the second round of Counselling;
• A clear undertaking based on the format available on website www.nchm.nic.in is to be given by the candidate for consideration in the second round of Counselling.
• Based on the undertaking given by the candidate for Upgradation in the second round of Counselling as per All India Rank shall be entertained for higher choice of Institute of Hotel Management only subject to availability of seat;
• After allotment of the Institute, candidates who have opted to take back the refund of Rs.9000/‐ shall not be consider in the second round of Counselling;
• Candidates who have not participated in the first round of Counselling shall not be allowed to participate in the second round of Counselling;
• First semester fee deposited by the candidates after allotment during first round of Counselling and have upgraded their institute in second round of Counselling, need not pay the first semester fee again. Their fee shall be laterally transferred by earlier allotted Institute.

• In case of the candidates who have exercised only one option and did not allotted seat during first round of Counselling but allotted seat during second round of Counselling, such candidates shall deposit the first semester fee at the allotted Institute only at the time of joining.
6.10 Allotment of Hostel Seat during the Counselling:
o The allotment of seat of Hostel shall be made simultaneously during on‐line on‐campus Counselling. o Vacancies of hostel in the institute shall be on category‐wise basis as applicable. o Candidates will be asked to indicate whether they want hostel or not at the time of exercising the choices of
institutes for allotment. o Hostel seat will also be allotted strictly based on All India Rank, wherever available.
6.11 Refund of Fee • Counseling Fee of Rs.1000/‐ is not refundable. • Rs.9000/‐(part fee towards first Semester fee) shall be refunded in full, on spot at the Counselling Centers, if
candidate has not been allotment any Institute based on his/her AIR and choice of institutes exercised by him/her, if so desire.
• Full refund of fee deposited for the first semester (including part fee of Rs.9000/‐) will be permitted to such candidates who are desirous of withdrawing their provisional allotment of seat provided they submit their request for such withdrawal in writing between 13‐06‐2010 to 28‐06‐2010 (both day inclusive) at their respective counseling centers.
• 50% of the deposited fee shall be refunded if the provisional allotment of seat is withdrawn in writing from the allotted Institute of Hotel Management within 20 days from 29th June 2010 or from the date of provisional allotment of seat at the allotted institute, whichever is later. Thereafter, no refund of fee shall be allowed except Caution Money/ Fee, if any.
6.12 Merit Scholarships and Financial Assistance
a) National Council has instituted Merit Scholarships Scheme with the help of Industry for meritorious students who obtain Ist, IInd and IIIrd position on All India basis in Council’s Annual Examination in the Ist year, IInd year and IIIrd year of the course i.e. after completion of both the Semester of the respective year.
b) National Council also provides Financial Assistance to the tune of Rs.20,000/‐ one each to Ist year, IInd year and IIIrd year students to the most deserving Scheduled Caste/ Scheduled Tribe candidate of each Institutes who fulfill eligibility criteria as per stated guidelines given by National Council for Hotel Management & Catering Technology.
c) Scheduled Caste/ Scheduled Tribe candidates can avail financial assistance from their respective State Governments for which the concerned Institute will issue studentship certificate indicating fee received from the student.
6.13 Commencement of Academic Session
Academic Session 2010‐2011 will commence from, (Monday) 19TH July, 2010 in all the affiliated institutes.
6.14 Inter‐Institute Transfer/ Migration
National Council does not allow inter‐institute transfer or migration on any ground during the entire duration of course. As such, no request for transfer or migration will be entertained after allotment of Institute of Hotel Management/ admission.

7. IMPORTANT NOTES FOR FILLING UP OF APPLICATION FORM
a) Read the instructions carefully before filling the application form.
b) DO NOT: scribble, smudge, cut, tear or wrinkle the Application Form or put any stray marks anywhere on the Application Form.
c) Paste only recent passport size photograph with date printed. Photograph more than 3 months old shall not be accepted. Do not staple it. (Keep two more copies of the same photograph handy)
d) Your name, address and signature should be in black ball pen only.
e) Please note that your name, your parent’s/ guardian’s name and your date of birth should exactly be same as given in your High school or your first Board/ Pre‐University Examination Certificate.
f) All columns in the Application Form should be completed only in English letters.
g) Incomplete Application Form or Application Form filled in a language other than English will not be accepted.
h) Don’t forget to note down the Application Form number for any future reference or correspondence with National Council. Also keep a photocopy of the filled in Application Form for your future record/ reference.
Note : Candidate may note in their own interest that there is no provision of relaxation in respect of age or qualification, so candidates may check their eligibility before submission of application form.
8. MAILING YOUR FILLED APPLICATION FORM FOR JEE‐2010
8.1 How, where and by when to send your completed Application Form
Duly completed Application Form should be sent to "JEE CELL" National Council for Hotel Management and Catering Technology, A‐34, Sector 62, Noida‐201301" in the pre‐addressed envelope. Do not staple or paste the Acknowledgement Card and Admit Cards with the Application Form. Ensure that the Application Form is not folded. Sealed envelope containing filled in Application Form, Acknowledgement Card & Admit Cards be sent through Registered Post/ Speed Post only not later than 12‐04‐2010. (Application sent through private courier services will not be accepted). Applications mailed by Registered Post/ Speed Post after 12‐04‐2010 shall also not be accepted. (Please indicate code and name of the center of your choice for the written test in the appropriate boxes given in the envelop). 9 . ADMIT CARD 9.1 Admit Card to be downloaded from www.nchmct.org from last week of April‐2010 The candidate shall have to download the admit card (in duplicate) from 28th April,2010 onward. Candidate should carefully check the Admit Card for all the entries made therein. Incase of any discrepancy, it should immediately be brought to the notice of the JEE CELL in the Council in writing through FAX at 0120‐2402819 as well. One copy of Admit Card duly attested by Gazetted Officer/ Head of Institution last attended/ Bank Manager of scheduled Bank/ Area Post Master be deposited with invigilator for his/ her signature and same be preserved & produce for appearing in the Counselling while second copy of Admit Card to be deposited at the examination center. 9.2 Impersonation

10.3 Change of Written Test Centre Change of Written Test Centre within a city will not be considered. Under exceptional circumstances, change of center may be permitted if an application with valid reasons for the change of center is received in the JEE Cell on or before 30‐4‐2010 along with non refundable fees of Rs.1000/‐ through Demand Draft drawn in favour of National Council for Hotel Management & Catering Technology, payable at Noida/ Delhi.
