Jessica Gonzalez 4th grade teacher, Rimfire Elementary, Flagler County

Having always been a shy girl in school, Gonzalez credits the BSED professors for her success. “My professors gave me all the tools I needed to complete the bachelor’s degree, and it was my job to open up that toolbox and take out all the resources and strategies that they taught me so I could implement them in the classroom. They cared and they pushed me to go in front of the classroom and give my presentations, with no judgment or anything, which was awesome for me.”

Stacey Robinson Asst. Housing Occupancy Specialist, City of Daytona Beach

Well into his 40s, Stacey Robinson decided to enroll in DSC’s School of Adult Education and earned his GED in 2013. With that accomplishment, his drive and determination kicked in. He earned an associate of arts degree in 2016, his BAS in 2018, both with honors, and an academic scholarship to Nova Southeastern University to work on his Master’s in Business Administration.

“I really like my job and want to see what opportunities come with it.” It all goes back to dedication and determination, he noted. “Never give up on yourself. It’s never too late.”
