The candidate:
can perform processing and inversion of various geophysical data, but with particular emphasis on seismic data
can perform seismic modelling of geological structures
can interpret seismic data in order to find possible traps for hydrocarbons
can recognize how different reservoir characteristics will be manifested in the seismic data and how this can be used in seismic reservoir characterization and quantitative seismic interpretation
knows the principles behind the seismic monitoring of hydrocarbon production or reservoirs that have been injected with CO2.
Skills – geology:
The candidate:
can divide a sedimentary sequence into facies and use this as a basis for interpreting paleoprocesses, palaeoclimate and paleogeography
can interpret well data and seismic data
can evaluate a sedimentary basin in terms of source, reservoir, caprock and trap
has first-hand knowledge of geological field methods
can use petroleum geological methods as a tool in prospecting for oil and gas
General competence:
The candidate:
can work individually and in teams to solve complex problems
can conduct independent research within a given time frame and in accordance with professional and ethical standards
can present theory, data, methods and results in oral and written form
is trained in the critical reading of scientific literature.
can perform laboratory and field work in accordance with established HSE practices
