Teachers,students,administrators,custodians,kitchencrews,aides,andmorehaveflockedbacktotheschoolbuildingsa8erabriefsummervaca:on.Therearemixedemo:onsaseveryonereturnstoengageinanewschoolyear.OurFCAstaffisexcitedaboutgeCngbackintoarou:ne,butweareevenmoreexcitedforallourstudentswhowenttoFCALeadershipCamp.Wepraythatthefire,passion,andcouragetheyreceivedatcampwillcarryonintotheschoolyear!God’sHolySpiritthatindwellsthesestudents,coaches,andadultsSHOULDshinewithboldnessandlove.Theyarespirituallyequippedandreadytoleadeverycoachandathleteintoagrowingrela:onshipwithJesusChristandHischurch!Butwillthey….willwe?
InLuke,thediscipleswentbacktoschoolandwantedtolearnhowtopray.Maybetheyrealizedthatknowledgewaspower…ormaybethatprayerwaspowerful!TeachusJesus!Teachus!IlovethataCtude!Iunderstandschoolmaynotbethemostfunplace,butitisanaturalmissionfieldthatGodhasgivenschoolstaffandstudentstoshineandshare.Nofund-raisingrequired,noplane:ckets,visa,orridiculouslylongroadtrips.Ihavebeenondozensofmissiontrips–lovedeachone!Butrightnow…today,ourmissionfieldisinourcommunity,andwemustbepreparedtoshareGod’slove.So,Jesus…teachus!Teachushowtopray,howtoshareourfaith,howtoreadGod’sWordsothatweareempoweredwithtruth,grace,andlove.
NotonlyshouldwehavetheaCtudeofwan:ngJesustoteachus…weneedtoputwhatwelearnintoprac:ce.OurhopeisthatourFCAstudentsgobacktoschoolandcourageouslyleadtheirHuddles,theirteams,andtheirlockerroomsinprayer.Wedon’tprayforthescoreboardvictory,weprayforotherthings.Wepraythatwegiveourbestandthatourbestreflectsourfaith.WeprayforgreataCtudes,safetyfrominjury,orhealingforthoseinjured.Weprayforcoachestomakegreatdecisions.Wepraythatwhenthingsdon’tgoourway,wewillreflectagodlyresponse.Wepraythatourprac:ceandgame:meac:onsbringhonorandglorytoGod.
Howaboutthisfirstmonthofschoolwejustfocusonpu6ngintoprac8ceonething–prayer.WouldyoupleasejoinusinprayingdailyforourFCAstaff,leaders,andvolunteers?Prayforourstudentstoliveouttheirfaith.PrayfortheHuddlesastheystartinthenextfewweeks.Praythatwepurseourmission–toleadeverycoachandathleteintoagrowingrela1onshipwithJesusChristandHischurch!Prayforourstudentstocourageouslyleadtheirpeersinprayer!

OnJuly20th,TheHicksvilleAcesfootballteamhosteda7on7StrongmanCompe88onwithnineareafootballteamspar8cipa8ngtowarmuptheirfootballskills.Forthe10thyear,FCAbroughtinaChris8anfootballplayertosharetheirstorywiththeplayersandcoachesandtheimportanceofhavingJesusChristasLordtonavigatethemthroughthechaosanduncertain8esofsportsandlife.Thisyear’sspeakerwasformerBowlingGreenOffensiveLineman(1982-85)PastorVicCales.Vicspoketoover300areafootballplayersandcoachesonthepowerofJesusChristtochangelivesandcarrythemthroughthegreatvictoriesandlossesoflife.HesharedhowGodhadledhimandhiswifeShellyintofull-8meministryandsomeofthemiraculousthingsHehasdone.VicemphasizedthatthroughalltherollercoastersofsportsandlifeGodhasneverleghimnorforsakenhimandthatthroughJesusChrist,ourheavenlyFathermakesthesamepromisetoeachofthem.PastorVicconcludedbychallengingtheplayersandcoachestocourageouslycomeandkneelwithhimasheprayedforthemtomakeaseriouscommitmenttofollowJesus.AllbutafewoftheplayerscameandprayedwithPastorVic.Itwasaverypowerfulmoment!PraythatGodwillguardandguidetheseyoungmenthroughtheseasonandtheirhighschoolcareers,makinghispresenceknowninuniqueandwonderfulwaystoeach.
