The Character of God• He is a person• A thinking, intelligent

being that can reason, reflect and consider itself.

• God is not a force or an entity

The Character of God• God is Spirit• John 4:24• While God is a person,

He is NOT human.• He is of a different realm

the realm of the natural world

• Because of this we can count on Him and His word!

The Character of God• God is sovereign• Being creator He can do what

He wants. Unquestioned authority

Qualities of God• God is holy• He is separate (from the

common). He is ABOVE all.• Lev. 19:2

Qualities of God• God is Omnipotent• All powerful. He is not

restricted by the boundaries of the natural universe

thought, word and action. He even knows what will happen

quality. The standard of what is good

Qualities of God• A God of grace• Grace – unmerited favor.

He has taken steps to save and preserve us

Qualities of God• A God of mercy• Mercy – compassion,

we DON’T deserve – Mercy is God NOT giving us what we DO deserve.

Qualities of God• God is righteous, just• He is right in His actions.

He is fair and upright• Psa. 11:7, 145:17• Revealed in the gospel –

Qualities of God• God is impartial• All will be judged by the

same standard. Not based upon worldly standards!

Qualities of God• God is jealous• He will not tolerate

following after other gods• Ex. 20:3-5, 34:12-14

related to purity, goodness

and righteousness

who disobey and reject Him, to the same degree He will reward the godly.
