We’re delighted to be returning to Butlin’s Minehead (Somerset) in 2021, to stage the biggest touring festival of its kind in the UK! Let’s go all in for 2021 and give your players, coaches and supporters something to really look forward to!

The Tigers Challenge is a professionally organised touring rugby festival, that brings U7- U14 teams and U13 & U15 girls teams from all over the UK together for a fantastic weekend of rugby and fun.

The festival is staged by Leicester Tigers & ESF Events. Every aspect of the game, its safety and ethos, will be upheld to the highest standards. The festivals are organised in accordance with RFU guidelines, whilst promoting the ethos and values of the game we all love.

BOOK WITH CONFIDENCE For the first time since 2012, we were unable to stage the Tigers Challenge in 2020 due to coronavirus. In a challenging time, we worked closely with Butlin’s to ensure that accommodation payments were refunded in full. This was the right thing to do for our loyal customers and this commitment remains the same for 2021. If Butlin’s Minehead is unable to open due to coronavirus, accommodation payments

will be refunded in full. Butlin’s will be operating within Government guidelines and the Tigers Challenge will be staged in line with RFU regulations.

All teams are involved in an exciting two day festival over Saturday and Sunday, typically playing 5 – 7 games over the weekend. Following the final matches on the Sunday, our spectacular celebrity presentation ceremonies take place at Butlin’s in front of a packed auditorium. With dramatic sound and lighting effects, celebrity guests and awards for every player, it’s an occasion to remember for everyone involved.

Touring teams are accommodated at Butlin’s award winning resort in Minehead, which is booked exclusively to stage the festival – it’s the perfect base for an action packed tour. Butlin’s resort is safe and secure, offers quality accommodation and dining options, and has a fantastic range of leisure facilities to keep your touring party entertained throughout the weekend.

Butlin’s Minehead Resort is a jewel in the crown for the Tigers Challenge. Located right next to the beach and on the doorstep of the great wilderness of Exmoor National Park, it’s a fantastic setting for an end of season tour.

Butlin’s award winning resort in Minehead is booked exclusively to stage the 2021 Tigers Challenge over the popular May Day Bank Holiday weekend. 200 mini and youth teams from all over the UK will join us on tour for the ultimate weekend of rugby and fun!

The festival fixtures are played on the Saturday and Sunday at Minehead Barbarians RFC, Minehead Middle School, West Somerset College and Butlin’s Sports Field. All venues are within 1 mile of Butlin’s Resort and complimentary shuttle buses are provided to the pitches throughout the weekend.

After an exciting day of action at the pitches, the on resort facilities at Butlin’s are perfect for teams on tour. The resort has a huge variety of sports and leisure facilities, exciting rides at the Traditional Fairground, superb entertainment venues, quality accommodation and great places to eat and drink.

The amazing Splash Waterworld is packed with flumes, rides and slides, it’s always a firm favourite for the kids and adults alike. There’s also a variety of live shows, tribute acts, live bands and discos, so your team will enjoy some amazing family entertainment, at no extra cost!

If you’re looking for extra thrills, you can pay a small extra charge for activities like the High Ropes, with the excitement of the ‘leap of faith’, Climbing Wall, Go Karts, the Adventure Golf, Ten Pin Bowling or catch a box office hit at Butlin’s Cinema. Butlin’s is the perfect base for an action-packed tour.

There’s a great range of quality accommodation available to suit all budgets. The stylish chalets in the West Lakes Village have proved to be a big hit for teams wanting a spacious, cosy and beautiful place to rest after an exciting day at the pitches.

Butlin’s Dining Plans always prove to be extremely popular with our teams on tour. There’s a wide selection of choices available and you can go back for seconds as many times as you like – perfect for hungry young rugby players! The dining times are scheduled so they don’t clash with your festival fixtures.

TEAM ENTRY FEESThere are no team entry fees to the Tigers Challenge. All costs associated with the festival are included in the accommodation charges. It is therefore a condition of entry to the festival that all members of your touring party (players, family members, coaches etc.) book accommodation through ESF Events.

IMPORTANT: Accommodation for your whole touring party, including players, families, coaches and supporters, must be booked through ESF Events. If members of your party book alternative accommodation, which is not through ESF Events, the team will not be permitted to participate in the festival. Please refer to T&C’s and unoccupied bed information on page 16. Accommodation prices are per person (£ Inc VAT) for 3 nights accommodation and include ESF Wristbands and Butlin’s entertainment passes. Balconies, Patios and Sea Views may be available as an optional extra for an additional charge of £5 per person in some grades of accommodation. Additional grades of accommodation may be available. Half Board Dining Plan prices are per person for the weekend and include evening meal on Friday, breakfast and evening meal on Saturday and Sunday, and breakfast on Monday. The meal times are scheduled so they don’t clash with your fixtures and you’ll save 20% by booking in advance compared to the on Resort cost.

HOW TO BOOK, EVENT INFO & T&C’s

HOW TO BOOK 1. Make a Provisional Booking - Call ESF Events on 01664 566360 and, subject to availability, we will reserve your club a place for two weeks free of charge.

2. Register Your Club - Complete and return the Club Registration Form with the Initial Deposit Payment of £250 per age group, or call ESF Events to register your team over the phone. You will then be sent a Confirmation of Booking email and your accommodation booking information. The £250 Initial Deposit Payment will be refunded prior to the 2021 festival taking place. Deposits are non-refundable for teams who cancel their booking.

3. Book Accommodation - Once the club is registered, ESF Events will email the Group Leader a unique accommodation booking link for your team. Group Leaders simply forward this email to the parents in your group, who can then book accommodation for their family/friends on the ESF Events section of the Butlin’s website, through the unique accommodation booking link. A deposit of £20 per person is required to book accommodation. The final balance for accommodation will be due no later than 8 weeks before the festival.

IMPORTANT: Accommodation for your whole party, including players, families, coaches and supporters, must be booked through ESF Events. If members of your touring party book alternative accommodation, which is not through ESF Events, the team will not be permitted to participate in the Tigers Challenge.

TOUR ITINERARY Friday - No rugby is played on the day of arrival. Accommodation units will be available from 4pm but teams can arrive on resort from 1pm and use the facilities at Butlin’s. There will be a full evening entertainment programme on the Friday. Our welcome meeting for Coaches and Group Leaders will also take place on Friday evening at 8pm.

Saturday & Sunday – The festivals will take place with all teams playing games on both the Saturday and Sunday. Teams will typically play 5 – 7 games over the weekend. The celebrity presentation ceremonies take place on the Sunday afternoon/evening.

Monday - No rugby is played on the Monday so teams have the option of travelling home on the Sunday evening or Monday morning. Check out of accommodation is 10.00am on Monday, but you do not have to leave the resort until Midday.

EVENT FORMAT All age sections will be played under the RFU Age Grade Rules for 2020-2021. Leicester Tigers have worked closely with the RFU and we will be organising our events in keeping with their ethos, and our continuing ethos. All teams will get a fair amount of games over the weekend in a competitive and fun environment. We will be celebrating everyone’s achievements at the end of the weekend and championing clubs that best embrace the new focus for our game, within the new guidelines. A Final Briefing will be emailed to Group Leaders 7-10 days before the festival. The Final Briefing email will include the Event Format, Fixtures & Schedules and Rules.

AGE QUALIFICATION DATES Consideration will be given to official dispensation where held under RFU Regulation 15. However this is at the discretion of the Organisers and subject to specific Tigers Challenge Rules. Please contact ESF Events for further details if required.

TEAM ENTRY FEES There are no Team Entry Fees to enter the Tigers Challenge. All costs involved with staging the festival are included in the accommodation charges.

TEAM REGISTRATION Participating teams are required to complete a player registration document that includes each player’s name and date of birth. In addition, teams must also bring RFU or other National Governing body documentation, or alternative proof of age for all players to the event.

SUPERVISION: ADULT TO CHILD RATIOS At least one responsible adult over the age of 21 must occupy each unit of accommodation. A minimum adult to child ratio of 1 to 2 is required for your party at Butlin’s.

ACCOMMODATION IMPORTANT: Accommodation for your whole party, including players, families, managers and supporters, must be booked through ESF Events. If members of your party book alternative accommodation, which is not through ESF Events, the team will not be permitted to participate in the Tigers Challenge. The only exception to this is ‘local’ teams who are invited to participate in the festival to ensure the best possible format in each age group.

Once the club is registered, ESF Events will email the Group Leader a unique accommodation booking link for your team. Group Leaders can simply forward this email to the parents in your group, who can then book accommodation for their family/friends on the ESF Events section of the Butlin’s website, through the unique accommodation booking link. A deposit of £20 per person is required to book accommodation. An accommodation booking deadline will be specified by ESF Events, which is normally 3 weeks after your team(s) register. The final balance for accommodation will be due no later than 8 weeks before the festival.

Accommodation will be allocated strictly on a first-come first-served basis. All sizes and grades of accommodation are subject to availability at the time of booking accomodation. Accommodation will always be available once your registration has been accepted, providing your party book their accommodation by their accommodation booking deadline, but we cannot guarantee your first choice grade of accomodation.

UNOCCUPIED BEDS: In cases where a unit of accommodation is booked leaving unoccupied beds, a full subsidy will be charged, i.e. if 3 people book a 4 berth unit of accommodation, they would have to pay for 4 people. Infants under the age of 2 years, who go free if you bring along your own cot, do not count towards the occupancy of a unit.

You can hire a cot for a fee of £10 (linen is not provided) or pay a supplement of £35 if an infant under 2 sleeps in a bed.

ESF WRISTBANDS You will be allocated one ESF wristband for each member of your party who has booked accommodation through ESF Events. People without an ESF wristband will not be permitted to participate in the festival, attend the presentation ceremony or enter evening entertainment venues at Butlin’s.

DINING PLANS AT BUTLIN’S Half Board Dining Plans at Butlin’s include breakfast and evening meal. Evening meal is included on the Friday, Saturday and Sunday, but not if you arrive after the restaurant is closed. Breakfast is included on the Saturday, Sunday and Monday. The meal times are scheduled so they don’t clash with your festival fixtures.

BEHAVIOUR & CONDUCT WHILE ON TOUR It is a condition of participation in the Tigers Challenge that you agree to accept the authority and decisions of the Tigers Challenge organisers and referees in attendance at the festival. It is the responsibility of the Group Leader and adults in the party to ensure the behaviour of all members of your party is acceptable at all times, both at the pitches and at Butlin’s. In extreme cases of unacceptable behaviour, Butlin’s Resort Management & ESF Events reserve the right to terminate a holiday, whereby part or all of a Team/Club may be required to leave the premises without refund. Clubs will be charged for any damage caused by members of their party. Misconduct while on site at Butlin’s, or at the festival itself, may also be reported to the RFU by the organisers, for further disciplinary action to be taken as deemed appropriate.

INSURANCE The 2021 Tigers Challenge is covered for ‘Public Liability’ insurance by ESF Events. However, this does not cover individual teams or ‘person to person’ public liability, personal accident or injury whilst attending the festivals. We strongly recommend that all participating teams, if they are not already covered, should take out insurance cover for these risks. We also strongly recommend all guests attending take out appropriate holiday insurance.

CANCELLATION If you cancel your accomodation booking due to illness, accident or change of circumstances, and if you have taken insurance cover, payments for accommodation arising from the cancellation may be covered. Initial Deposit payments paid to ESF Events will not be refunded for teams who cancel their booking. To cancel your team booking, you must email ESF Events at info@tigerschallenge.co.uk to notify us. If you’ve taken out Butlin’s Holiday Protection and need to cancel your break, you’ll need to call Butlin’s Customer Care team on 0330 100 6659 (calls charged at standard national rate) as soon as you can. If you have not taken Butlin’s Holiday Protection and you cancel your break, Butlin’s will not issue a refund and you will need to claim back through your holiday insurance provider. CANCELLATION CHARGES:

If you have Butlin’s Holiday Protection and you are cancelling for sickness, redundancy, jury service or bereavement: • Two days (48 hours) or more – Full refund minus a cancellation

charge of £50 per accommodation unit and cost of Butlin’s Holiday Protection

• Two days (47 hours, 59 minutes) or less – 30% refund of your total holiday cost and cost of Butlin’s Holiday Protection

If you have Butlin’s Holiday Protection and you are cancelling for any other reason:• 56 days or more – Full refund minus a cancellation charge

of £50 per accommodation unit and cost of Butlin’s Holiday Protection

• 55-43 days – 70% refund minus a cancellation charge of £50 per accommodation unit and cost of Butlin’s Holiday Protection

• 42-29 days – 50% refund minus a cancellation charge of £50 per accommodation unit and cost of Butlin’s Holiday Protection

• 28-8 days – 10% refund minus a cancellation charge of £50 per accommodation unit and cost of Butlin’s Holiday Protection

• 7 days or less – no refund

CORONAVIRUS GUARANTEE If Butlin’s Minehead is unable to open on 30 April - 3 May 2021 due to coronavirus, accommodation payments will be refunded to all guests.

EVENT ORGANISERS The Tigers Challenge is organised and staged by ESF Events Ltd (Company Registration Number 7695303). BROCHURE ACCURACY To the best of our knowledge, all information in this brochure is accurate at the time of print. Please be aware that there may be occasions when the facilities listed in this brochure are modified or unavailable due to factors beyond our control.

PHOTOGRAPHS By registering your team(s), you are also agreeing that we may, if appropriate, use any photographs taken by the event photographers at the Tigers Challenge of individual players or teams, in the Tigers Challenge marketing literature, website and advertising. If you would not like photography of your players or teams to be used for this purpose for any reason, you must notify ESF Events via info@tigerschallenge.co.uk prior to the festival taking place.

EVENT CANCELLATION/CURTAILMENT In the unusual event that there are insufficient entries in an age group to go ahead with the event, ESF Events will attempt to offer a suitable alternative for your team. If there is not an alternative option which is acceptable for your group, and you wish to cancel your booking, the Initial Deposit and accommodation payments made by your team will be refund in full. Whilst every effort will be made to complete all scheduled fixtures at the festival, ESF Events cannot be held responsible for the curtailment of a festival due to adverse weather conditions.

FORCE MAJEUR We do not accept liability for any loss, damage or expense arising from a change or cancellation to your tour which occurs due to unusual or unforeseeable circumstances beyond our control and that of our suppliers. Such events would include, for example, war, threat of war, riots, civil strife, pandemics, industrial disputes, terrorist activity, fire or adverse weather conditions, natural or nuclear disaster, decisions of National Governing Bodies or similar events beyond our control.

COMPLAINTS PROCEDURE In the event that you experience problems with any element of your tour, you must advise the ESF Events organising team on resort in writing by 7pm on the day of the incident, so that we can attempt to resolve the problem at once. If the problem cannot be resolved at the festival, we will ask your Group Leader or nominated Coaches to complete a complaint form, following which, ESF Events will undertake a full investigation on your return from the festival. If you fail to take either of these steps, it will affect our ability to investigate your complaint and may impact the way your complaint is dealt with. In the event of any dispute arising between us, the dispute will be governed by the laws of England & Wales under the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts. Complaint forms must be made in writing within 28 days of the event.

ESF Events cannot be held responsible for:

- The conduct, behaviour and actions of other teams or individuals present at the festival or at Butlin’s.

- The decision of teams not to fulfil a scheduled fixture at the Tigers Challenge.

- Loss of property and damage to property/vehicles at the holiday centre or at the venues where the festivals are played. Vehicles are parked at the owners risk at the venues, and at Butlin’s.

DATA PROTECTION ESF Events will use the personal information that you provide to process your booking and provide your tour. We may also need to pass your information to third party service providers, such as Butlin’s and Leicester Tigers. The Group Leader for each booking has the authority to discuss all accommodation bookings made under the team booking with ESF Events and representatives from Butlin’s if required. FINANCIAL PROTECTION The Association of Bonded Travel Organisers Trust Limited (ABTOT) provides financial protection under The Package Travel and Linked Travel Arrangements Regulations 2018 for ESF Events Limited, and in the event of their insolvency, protection is provided for the following:

Non-flight packages; flight inclusive packages that commence outside of the EU, which are sold to customers outside of the EU; and accommodation only bookings.

ABTOT cover provides for a refund in the event you have not yet travelled or repatriation if you are abroad. Please note that bookings made outside the EU are only protected by ABTOT when purchased directly with ESF Events Limited.

Only contracts made with ESF Events Limited as a principal operator of the bookings will be covered by ABTOT. Bookings with, and payments made directly to, Butlin’s are not covered by ABTOT.

In the unlikely event that you require assistance whilst abroad due to our financial failure, please call our 24/7 helpline on 01702 811397 and advise you are a customer of an ABTOT protected travel company.

Initial Deposit Payment An initial deposit payment of £250 per age group is required to register your team(s) at the Tigers Challenge. The Initial Deposit Payment will be refunded by ESF Events Ltd once the accommodation for your whole party has been booked. Deposit payments are non refundable should you cancel your team booking.

The Tigers Challenge are proud to support the Matt Hampson Foundation and the Leicester Tigers Foundation. Over £45,000 has been raised for the Foundations at the Tigers Challenge in recent years.

Matt Hampson was an emerging talent in the world of rugby, widely recognised as having the capability to go all the way. After progressing through the junior ranks at England U18 and England U19 levels, Matt established himself as the number one prop in the England U21 team.

Then came the moment that changed Matt’s life. In a collapsed scrum, Matt suffered a dislocation of his neck which trapped his spinal cord. It left him paralysed from the neck down, but more determined than ever from the neck up.

Without question, Matt is an incredible man, he is an inspiration to everyone who knows his story. In 2019 Matt realised his dream of opening the Get Busy Living Centre (GBL), a pioneering £1 million rehabilitation centre, designed to support the Foundation’s beneficiaries who have suffered life altering and catastrophic sporting injuries. We recommend you visit the Matt Hampson Foundation website to find out more about the GBL Centre and the work Matt’s team does.

Matt’s commitment to helping others knows no limits and once again this year he is teaming up with the Leicester Tigers Foundation to bring support to those living life with disabilities, creating opportunities to participate in and enjoy all the benefits of the sport we all love, rugby, in its wheelchair format. Funds raised from the 2021 Tigers Challenge will go to supporting Disability

Sport and Access, allowing the continued development of the Tigers Wheelchair Rugby Club. The club provides special schools engagement alongside a quality grassroots club, for all to access and get a taste of the game. In doing so, a pathway to excellence has been created, that has already seen 4 young players gain national recognition being selected for the GB squad. The efforts of the Foundation and Wheelchair team continue to raise public awareness of the needs of those living life in challenging circumstances but positively focussing on the abilities of what we can do as opposed to the disability of the participants.

The Tigers Challenge is once again delighted to be supporting The Matt Hampson Foundation and the Leicester Tigers Foundation at the 2021 Tigers Challenges.
