Bad CME Slide: HIPPA Violation Using a Patient’s Photo
Problem: Using a patient’s photo violates HIPPA privacy laws unless express permission is given. We don't know if your patient has approved.
Good CME Slide: HIPPA Compliant Solutions: 1. Hide patient's identity OR 2. Send the patient's HIPPA release to CRF ([email protected]) OR 3. Add patient's HIPPA release at the back of your presentation so we know the patient has approved.

Bad Slide: Reference Information is Inadequate
Pub Med search found 9 papers, 3 of which were cardiac related
Good Slide: Provides all key reference information and follows AMA style
Good Slide: Reference provides enough data to find paper easily
Journal name, year, volume, and page are adequate data.
Bad Slide: References lack adequate details and are hard to read
Good Slide: Multiple References and Readable, Adequate Detail to Find Papers
Referencing Formats for Slides • Even though no official slide citation format
exists, use a modified AMA style
• Primary purpose of citing is to enable a peer to
look-up that information
Journal Articles

numbers
• For study names, use the first author of the cited
paper, major trials often have 10 + papers

This titles slide suggests 8 presenters and thus requires full disclosure information for all 8 presenters
Good Slide: Only Speaker on Title Slide
Solution: Only the Speaker/Presenter (or other TCT faculty with completed disclosures) should appear on the Title Slide
Thank you, and looking forward to a great TCT 2016 Conferece!
