The “S” key is context sensitive, and will open a

menu with basic commands that relate to where you are and what

you’re doing.

The “A” key will jump from one “Type” to the next so you don’t have to move your mouse ½ inch to pick it.

Simply picking, then deleting the split-point will make the

two lines one again

You can create a slot’s sketch by offsetting a single Line

and making it bi-directional.

When making a dimension,

you can right-click to lock

It’s type so it doesn’t change as you move it around.

You can add Advanced Symmetric / Width Mates instead of having to add

You can filter items in your Feature Tree quickly and easily by simply typing in

what you want to see.

You can save / restore your toolbars and stuff so when SolidWorks crashes, you don’t have to reposition

them all.

You can create great looking Part Labels by linking the text to properties and item

numbers so the text is parametrically linked.

You can change the viewport and drawing backgrounds to

something much cooler and customized.

Navigate to your solidworks install directory, then look for this sub-directory:\Solidworks\data\Images\drawings\sheetbackground1.bmpYou will want to replace the sheetbackround1.bmp with your own bitmap file.

You can place a hatch’s boundary on a hidden layer.

You can insert entire drawing sheets with details into an existing drawing and have the parts link to the BOM for

quick detailing.

Just so long as the thing your detailing is already in your assembly.

This works for parts and even entire subassemblies.

You can use a Macro to quickly add the CG to a part or assembly, then use that sketch to locate it within a

drawing.
