First, operate the hydraulic levers to check which lever operates what function.

!!! Before using the clamp, carefully read the instructions of the lift truckmanual.

Use all the functions several times with no load to check if they function normallyand smoothly.

10

If the arm synchronization is incorrect, proceed as follow to correct it: after having removed the front guard of the clamp (if present), loosen the counter-nut of the capacity regulator and adjust the adjustment screw projection to 10 mm from the counter-nut on the two cylinders, adjustment screw of the relative cylinder until the two arms are synchronized.Block the counter-nuts and reassemble to front guard.

• Load weight must not exceed combined truck/attachment capacity (see truck nameplate).

INCORRECT PICK-UP

CORRECT PICK-UP

• For a correct grip the load must be fixed parallel to the ground.• The load must be fixed parallel to the arms.• Tilt mast, position arms parallel to the ground.• Make sure the load is positioned against the clamp body and not towards the

tips of the arms.• Tighten the base load.• Avoid excessive tightening pressure to avoid damaging the load.• Make sure that the load cannot move or fall, thus causing accidents.• Assure unclamped loads on top are stable and safely arranged prior to lifting

and travelling.• Always centre the load after lifting the clamp (provided that a sideshifter is

present).

3.3.2. Load handling

On the clamps the hydraulic cylinder bolts (mounted on body and arms) are not completely tightened, so in the case that these have to be removed and installed (e.g. when replacing a cylinder, arm), take in consideration to completely tighten the bolts, then loosen them 1/2 turn.

Check the hoses, fittings, valve, manifold, cylinders and rotation drive for leaks.

200 mm

CORRECT PICK-UP

• Before driving the lift truck, lift the load 200 mm from the ground and the mast in backwards position (3-4°). Travel backwards at a maximum speed of five (5) km/h (3,1 mph).

• Before lifting the load check overhead clearance.• Do not sideshift more than necessary so as not to endanger the load stability.• Do not brake abruptly or make abrupt movements when travelling with a load.• Make sure that you have a clear view of the shop floor. Fit extra rear view

equipment if necessary.• Before rotating the load check overhead and ground clearance.• Position load parallel to ground before rotating.

CORRECT PICK-UP

• To unload, first bring the upright to a vertical position and then slowly lower the arms.

In the event of problems or if operations are to be undertaken that are notspecifically described in this manual, please consult CAM or your dealer.

Before carrying out maintenance on the grippers remove the key from thecontrol panel of the truck to avoid any accidental movement. Apply thehandbrake and operate the lever to eliminate hydraulic pressure.

For safety reasons, unauthorized adjustments or modifications to the CAM System®attachment are prohibited and will void the CAM warranty.

After completing any service procedure, always test the CAM System® clamp through five complete cycles.

A CAM System® attachment that has been dropped cannot be used unless it hasundergone a thorough inspection for damage. Only use CAM System® attachmentsthat do not present any damage.

Only clean the CAM System® attachment with a cloth dampened in a soapy solution. Do not use solvents, petrol, strong detergents etc. If the CAM System®attachment is heavily soiled, the use of a pressure cleaner is only permittedproviding that it is set to a maximum of 200 bar.All warning symbols and labels should remain legible at all times. Only clean thesafety indicators with a cloth dampened in a soapy solution. Do not use solvents, petrol, strong detergents etc.Replace damaged and/or illegible markings, stickers or decals.

Every day • Check upper and lower hooks of the attachment.• Check the correct operation of the attachment.

Every 100 hours• Check for loose or missing bolts, worn or damaged hoses, and hydraulic leaks.• Check the truck attachment hooks.• Check decals and nameplate for legibility.

To avoid over clamping or slow sideshifting speed, relief cartridges should be adjusted to ensure correct settings.

In case of adjustments: • Confirm that truck oil pressure and truck oil flow delivered to the attachment

valve are within the range shown on the attachment nameplate.• For adjusting the clamp pressure use the superior valve clamp relief cartridge:

unscrew the protection cap (part 1) and turn clockwise to increase pressure, counterclockwise to decrease pressure. Tighten the protection cap.

• For adjusting the sideshifting clamp pressure use the frontal valve sideshift relief cartridge: unscrew the jam bolt (part 6) and turn counterclockwise the screew (part 5) to increase pressure, clockwise to decrease pressure (1/4 turn increments). Tighten the jam bolt.

Troubleshooting

Arms positioningSlow positioning of the arms:• Incorrect hydraulic pressure or flow from the lift truck.• External leaks.• Dirty, worn or defective cartridge valves (parts 2-3-4) or cylinder seals.• High regulation of the sideshift pressure on the valve (parts 5-6).• Flow regulator on the cylinders tightened to much. WARNING: Before removing hydraulic components, relieve pressure in the

hydraulic system.

Clamp functionMissed clamp of the load:• Incorrect load handling.• Incorrect hydraulic pressure or flow from the lift truck.• External leaks.• Dirty, worn or defective cartridge valves (parts 2-3-4) or cylinder seals.• Low regulation of the clamp pressure on the valve (part 1). WARNING: Before removing hydraulic components, relieve pressure in the

hydraulic system.

Sideshift functionMissed clamp of the load:• Incorrect load handling.• Incorrect hydraulic pressure or flow from the lift truck.• External leaks.• Dirty, worn or defective cartridge valves (parts 2-3-4) or cylinder seals.• Low regulation of the sideshift pressure on the valve (parts 5-6).• Bent or damaged arms, frames or bearing.

Slow sideshifting of the load:• High regulation of the sideshift pressure on the valve (parts 5-6). WARNING: Before removing hydraulic components, relieve pressure in the

hydraulic system.
