The Ball State Athletics – Marsh Street Team is a group of elite Ball State students that will represent Ball State Athletics and Marsh with a variety of creative marketing and promotional initiatives. These initiatives will be Ball State student-focused first and then community-focused second. But it’s a very close second. Over the next two years (and hopefully beyond), the mission of this group will be to become “expected” at all Ball State and community events. While we are in the building process, the vision of the students involved will shape the future of this organization. The students will make the difference.

Membership status will be competitive. In order to give a “real world” experience and maintain the client’s interests in having elite students involved, there will be different levels of involvement that correspond with the desired commitment levels of the individual students. MEMBERSHIP TIERS

The most exciting part about this project is the “real life” component that is made available. It is key to remember that while everyone in the class will participate in the project, only the most enthusiastic will be placed into leadership positions. We believe these leadership positions to be excellent resume material and something that all future Sport Ad graduates should be aspiring towards. The professional experience will be provided through:
• An Interview Process • Leadership Perks • Exit Assessment/Evaluation

The interview process is proposed to be a joint effort between the External Affairs GAs and Dr. Pierce/Prof. Wanless that will only be conducted for those that voice an interest in extending themselves for the opportunity at leadership positions. We recognize that you, Dr. Pierce/Prof. Wanless, are much more aware of the individual students’ abilities and past performance. We welcome you to help us in the interview process! The External Affairs GAs will put the students through a very brief (10-20 minute) interview that will help us determine whether the interested student is a good fit for a leadership position. We will definitely welcome and prefer your input as we move forward with the process.

Leadership positions will be afforded extra benefits that will be unavailable to the “members”. “Steering Committee Members”, as previously discussed, will serve on the Marsh Street Team Steering Committee along with the three (3) GAs. This steering committee will generate ideas and concepts that will be voted on by the Marsh Street Team Executive Board. The Executive Board will consist of the three (3) Team Presidents, one (1) from each group, plus Matt Wells and Lauren Ross. These five (5) members will work together to decide what creative concepts will be carried forth from the brainstorming power of the Steering Committee. Voting power will be one (1) vote for each Team President and two (2) votes for Matt Wells and Lauren Ross for a total of seven (7) votes.

Students, professors, and graduate assistants will be required to perform an exit assessment upon completing the project. We believe this experience to truly be a uniquely creative idea. However, truly unique creative ideas are sometimes bogged down by insufficiencies. Therefore, the input of all of those involved is something that is very valuable to the continued development of the Marsh Street Team. Additionally, performance evaluations will be conducted by all parties of each other. Presidents will evaluate their group members. Group members will evaluate their presidents and fellow members. Professors and GAs will evaluate the entire program and how it can be better handled. SPTAD 290 and the Marsh Street Team project is a guinea pig with a plan.

The big question: how does SPTAD 290 want this to be integrated into the classroom environment? As two students of the program, we believe this to be a perfect opportunity for an element that is worth a portion of the class grade. As a graded element, the students will want to be involved or at least, they will need to be involved. Is there extra credit for attempting to pursue a leadership position? How can the students be evaluated properly outside the classroom? Is there a peer-grade portion of the exit evaluation? This is where we need your help!

Another element of sponsorship that we want to expose SPTAD 290 students to is branding. When working with another company, or in this case, two separate institutions of business, it is vitally important that all branding is consistent and meets with the guidelines of the respective entities. We will give you a quick look at the logos and how they should be used on different mediums, shall SPTAD 290 want to promote their involvement in this project. All uses of the “Youth” Charlie Cardinal head and the official logo of Marsh- Indiana’s Hometown Grocer have been approved by those with that authority.
