• The Government of Jharkhand is organizing a two days event “Bamboo Artisans Conclave 2019”on18thand19thSeptember2019atDumka,Jharkhand

• Theeventcoincideswiththe“WorldBambooDay2019”on18thSeptember

• TheinitiativeisbeingtakenforchannelizingopportunitiesinBambooSectorrangingfromcultivationtovalue-additionandutilizingbambooasanalternativeenergysource.

• TheStateGovernmentiscommittedtoestablishJharkhandasoneoftheprimedestinationsforBamboobasedproducts,locallyandglobally.

• Theeventissettothrowlightonallvitalaspectsofbamboodevelopment–fromscientificplantationandfarming,throughcompetitivevalue-additionwiththehelpofstate-of-artequipmentandmachines,toexploringsustainablemarketavenues.

• Theeventwouldprovideanopportunitytothetribalcommunitiestomarkettheirbamboobasedproducts

• TheeventwouldalsoprovideanopportunitytoprospectiveinvestorstobetterunderstandthepotentialofJharkhandinbamboosector.

• InmostofthehillyStatesofthecountry,bambooisusedasbuildingmaterial/constructionmaterial,besides,havingapotentialnichemarketinothercountriesaswellwithvarioustraditionalandanever-increasingrangeofcontemporaryuses/applicationsinindustrieslikeconstruction,furniture,textile,food,energyproduction,herbalmedicineetc.Thisisespeciallyimportantfromthepotentialofbamboobasedlivelihoodsandemploymentforrejuvenatingtheruraleconomyanddoublingoffarmers’income.

• 98%ofthevolumeofbamboospecieinthestateisoftheDendrocalamusstrictusOtherspeciesofBambooinJharkhandareBambusatulda,BambusanutansandBambusabalcooa

• AsperISFreports2017,thetotalnumbersofgreenclumpsis515millionanddryclumpsare114million

• Thequantityof totalestimatedgreenweightofbamboo is2520million tonnesoutofwhichtheestimatedhealthygreenweightis1901milliontonnesanddryweightis619milliontonnes

The Board constituted under the Department of Industries, Government of Jharkhand iscommittedtoworkinthefieldsofruralandurbanentrepreneurshipintandemwithmissionandvisionof India2022 toeradicatepovertyanddoubling the incomeof tribal farmers,through strengthening of rural based economies of Jharkhand by area resource specific,technicalinterventions,infrastructuredevelopment,capacitybuilding,marketinglinkupsandpromotion,creditlinkageandhandholding.

• The Board is engaged in promoting Bamboo Sector and other Minor Forest ProduceSectorintheState

• TheBoard inconvergencewiththeStateBambooMission iscommittedto implementschemesundertheNationalBambooMission,MinistryofAgricultureandFarmersWelfare,MinistryofMSME,MinistryofTribalAffairsetc.

Under the restructuredNational BambooMission, the JharkhandStateBambooMissionhasbeenrolledoutinthecurrentfinancialyearwhichenvisagespromotionofholisticgrowthofBambooSectorbyincreasingbamboocultivationinthestateandtakingsuitablestepsforstrengtheningthemarketingofbambooproducts.
