AND BLANKETS A high school student becomes eligible to receive a music award jacket, sweater, or blanket upon recommendation of the music teacher and after successful completion of any one of the following requirements: 1. Students must serve two consecutive years in the first concert and marching bands, the first concert choir, or the first concert orchestra; 2. Or, a band student must participate in a UIL competition marching band and a lower performance level concert band for four years; 3. Or, choir and orchestra students must participate in a lower-level choir or orchestra for four years; 4. Or, students who gain membership, through audition, into a Texas Music Educators Association All-Region and/or All-State Music organization. 5. A band student with a physical handicap who meets all other requirements, but cannot march, may qualify for an award after serving two years in the first concert band or after serving four years in a lower performance-level UIL contest concert band. Credit for years of participation in other schools will be accepted if the previous schools have participated in similar events. However, one full year of service must be completed in a District school for the student to be eligible for an award. Subsequent symbolic awards shall be presented where applicable. Costs of such awards shall not exceed that specified for UIL letters. ORDERING AWARD JACKETS. SWEATERS. GENERIC CERTIFICATES

The Generic Certificate (Exhibit 2170) is a flexible, multi-purpose certificate suitable forpresentation to virtually any deserving person for any suitable purpose. Appropriate signaturesneed to be affixed. These are the same certificates that are awarded to Division II winners in theschool district Solo and Ensemble Contests. This certificate is printed on gray parchment paper.

INTERMEDIATE SCHOOL METALLIC AWARD CERTIFICATE

An Intermediate School Metallic Award Certificate (Exhibit 2190) is to be presented at the end ofthe school year to all deserving eighth grade students in the music program. This certificate isindividualized for each of the district's ten intermediate schools and is printed in school colors.Signature blanks are provided for the teacher, principal, and Director of Fine Arts.

High School students become eligible to receive music award jackets, sweaters, or blankets after successfully completing thefollowing requirements:

1. Students must serve two consecutive years in the first concert and marching bands, the first concert choir, or the first concertorchestra.

2. Or, a band student must participate in a UIL competition marching band and in a lower performance-level concert band for fouryears;

3. Or, choir and orchestra students must participate in a lower-level choir or orchestra for four years;

4. Or, students who gain membership , through audition, into a Texas Music Educators Association All-Region and/or All-StateMusic Organization (EXCEPTION: membership in the TMEA 9th grade orchestra will not satisfy this requirement).

5. A band student with a physical handicap who meets all other requirements, but cannot march, may qualify for an award afterserving two years in the first concert band or after serving four years in a lower performance-level UIL contest concert band.

Credit for years of participation in music organizations in other high schools will be accepted if the previous schools have participatedin similar events. However, one full year of service must be completed in a Pasadena Independent School District high school for thestudent to become eligible for an award.

Subsequent symbolic awards shall be presented where applicable. Costs of such awards shall not exceed that specified for UIL letters.

Some students will complete requirements for music awards following their tenth grade or eleventh grade year. Music awards will beissued to these students during the fall of the succeeding year.

The following agreement is presented to students who will not complete requirements for a music award until they have participated ina music organization throughout their entire twelfth grade year. It is the desire of the school district to provide an opportunity for thesestudents to receive their music awards early so that they can be used and enjoyed during the students' twelfth grade school year.

TWELFTH GRADE MUSIC AWARD AGREEMENT

I understand that activities of the music organization to which I belong encompass the entire school year and that my school musicteacher has counted upon my yearlong participation in the organization in his/her advanced planning for the concerts, contests, tours,etc. of the group, lam aware that I have not yet fully earned the music award being presented to me. My early acceptance of thisaward obligates me to continue my membership and participation in the music organization throughout this entire school year.
