Summary of Experience & Career Objectives
Banele Damane, formerly Senior Events Coordinator at 5FM is a Digital Media and Events Professional currently
collaborating with Antfarm an Audio & Visual Broadcasting Solutions company based in Pretoria. He has a flair for
creativity and is very passionate about Marketing and Media having gained vast experience in the industry training and
working in the areas of Media Publishing, Integrated Marketing Communications and Broadcasting.
Banele possesses qualifications in Media Studies, Web Designing & Digital Marketing. He broke into the industry through
an internship program at Strikas Entertainment just after completing a learner ship with IWW Lateral Applications
where, he spent the period shadowing the client services and account executive who was working on various client
portfolio brands for the Supa Strikas comic book. What he gained from this program was the ability to strategically place
and represent the client’s brands such as Caltex, Spur and SANRAL in the comic book’s storyline. Having honed this
particular skill in strategic brand marketing, this has equipped him into becoming advanced in marketing
communication.
Subsequently, Banele joined an integrated marketing communications agency, Groove Consultants which specializes in
creative brand solutions through, Public Relations, Advertising, Partnership Marketing and Media Relations. Here, he
worked alongside Client Services Executive on the Nelson Mandela Children’s Fund, June 16 Foundation, and the NMC
(Network Marketing Council). This position enhanced his ability and experience in developing concepts and planning for
media campaigns and events.
The following year he was involved in the running and management of a newly developed events marketing company by
the name Opulently Perfected Events. The same year he also started an online radio podcasting website which streamed
on-demand content for international audiences through various online broadcasting platforms. As a result of these
endeavors he landed an opportunity of joining the 5FM marketing team as one of the Events Coordinator which was a
brief tenure which lasted a year.
Banele Damane’s main career objective is further gaining experience in Media & Entertainment abroad and working
towards Media ownership in the Digital Media platform.

Currently working in collaboration with Antfarm to establish ways of monetizing their new digital

Company Profile: Strikas Entertainment is a media publishing Company owning various comic book mediums
such as, the popular Supa Strikas comic book which has the highest circulation in the continent. The company’s
philosophy is to use these comic book mediums as a form of entertainment by creating characters who
transform dry, factual and complex information into engaging, simple and understood messages.

Role: During the period between May and November 2009, I was doing a shadow program with the company
whereby my role was to assist the Client Services & Account Manager on all job functions relating to the
strategic placements of brands that were represented in the Supa Strikas comic book medium working with
brands such as Caltex, Spur, Metropolitan Life and the National Road Agency Fund. These job functions included

Conceptualizing single and double paged advertisements for the main sponsors on the
comic book medium, which included some of the well-known characters from the Supa
Strikas comic book storyline.
Working with the Art Director on the plot synopsis and set design for each Supa Strikas
episode whereby, we had to ensure that the clients’ brand was well represented in each
page of the comic book.
Compiling a detailed spreadsheet of the number of appearances the client’s brand
makes in each edition in order to calculate effective frequency and reach.
