Thank you for coming out andsupporting Noelle Robinson in therecent local government elections, I amconfident that she will make anexcellent councillor.
I know the value that Noelle has brought
to my work, behind the scenes and Iknow she will thrive in this new publicfacing role.
Opposed to Gun
Club
The North Down Green Partyis totally opposed to theinclusion of a gun club in thebasement of the newHamilton Road CommunityCentre.
This proposal would cost anadditional £450,000 which isunjustifiable for what iseffectively an exclusive club.
With so many important
projects and services in needof funds it is hard tounderstand how anyone couldsee this as a priority of thecouncil.
The Green Party wants to thesee the new communitycentre as a welcoming placefor young people and familiesand to act as a hub for localresidents. We are concernedthat housing a gun club on thesite would discourage peoplefrom using the facility.
Green Party councillors willwork with others who areopposed to the gun club to tryto get this decisionoverturned. We will seek tosee the money reprioritizedfor facilities that will be ofbenefit to the wholecommunity such as playparksand litter controls.
North Down and Ards Council and I believe that will resultpublic engagemet on the issues that affect our town.
Regards,
Thank You!

Update from Steven Agnew MLA Update from Councillor Noelle Rob
Working for the Common Good
Planning Committee Role
I was extremely disappointed that the Ministerof Education’s recent announcement on capital
spending did not include funding for two
Bangor schools.
Bangor Central Integrated Primary School and
St Columbanus College are long overdue new
buildings.
Bangor Central has considerably outgrown its
current building and is currently reliant on
Courthouse Update
I am continuing in my work to ensure that
Bangor Courthouse finds a suitable
community use.
I am part of a local community group
Bangor Shared Space (BSS) which is
exploring possible options for the future use
of the buildings. A number of proposals
have been put forward including an arts
centre, a youth centre and a community
centre.
While I would have loved for the courthouse
to have become a theatre other
developments have meant that that is no
longer an option. Bangor Drama Club has
identified an alternative site to develop their
own theatre, a theatre at SERC is in
development and outline plans for Queens
Parade include a theatre. So three new
theatres could be underway!

While much of the litter was small this can be the
material that causes the most damage. Birds, fish
and other wildlife can choke on or swallow thevarious materials which included plastic bottle tops,
glass and cotton buds. Of course small pieces of
glass can also be very dangerous for small children.
One thing I noticed was how few plastic bags which
were on the beach this year. A sign that the plastic
bag tax is having a positive impact!
mobile classrooms to facilitate its increasingnumber of pupils.
St Columbanus had its funding for a new build
withdrawn when the Department of Education
budget was cut. The project is ‘shovel ready’
and I am devastated that they have not been
successful in this round of funding.
I will continue to press the Minister on behalf of
both schools.
No New Builds for Bangor Schools … This Time
I was extremely pleased to be
elected as Vice Chair of the
Planning Committee by the
members of the new North
Down and Ards Council.
Planning will be one of theareas where the new councils
will have increased powers.
This is a huge responsibility as
how we plan our towns will
have an impact on the success
of local businesses, the
vibrancy of our town centre and
the lives of our citizens.
My priority will be to ensure
strict application of the
Councillor Code of Conduct inrelation to planning issues. We
need openness and
transparency in the system to
ensure decisions are made for
community need, not developer
greed.
As I am a new councillor I
thought I should introduce
myself.
I was born in Omagh but
have lived and worked in
Bangor for over 30 years.

As a keen animal lover, one of my
favourite pastimes is walking my two
dogs, Otto and Ted, around our local
beauty spots. I am a responsible dog
owner and believe that we all have a
duty to clean up after our pets.
I also keep hens, you’d be amazed at
heir different personalities!
I abhor animal cruelty and have
worked with various charities
including Assisi and the Guidedogs
Association to promote better care of
animals.
I look forward to getting to know you
better during this council term.
