Japanese Day - Last Friday was Japanese Day. It was fantastic to see our students participating in the fun learning activities and enjoying the sushi lunch. Thank you Mr Nickeas for organising the day.
Instrumental Music Concerts - The students’ performances at assemblies certainly show we have some very talented musical performers at Mount Martha Primary School! Next week we start our instrumental music concerts with our piano students next Wednesday 29th November and the other concerts on the 6th and 7th December. These performances give our students the opportunity to showcase their progress and talent with their instruments in front of an audience. Thank you parents for your assistance and support of our music program.
Book Pick Up Day - A reminder that Book Pick Up Day is Wednesday 6 th December from 8am to 6pm in the Staff Centre. PSW our on site uniform supplier will be open during Prep Transition Sessions 9.15 - 10.30am if you would like to purchase uniform for next year.
Year 5 and 6 Film Festival - “The Nine Realms” – Next Tuesday and Wednesday is the showing of “The Nine Realms” made by our Year 5 and 6 students, their teachers and producer/videographer, Bruce Grantford. The film will be shown at Rosebud Cinema. The students worked over last term and into this one with their teacher and on the many elements required to produce their films. The unit provided many learning opportunities from developing and memorising scripts, making props and costumes, acting, filming as well as developing skills to work in teams. Congratulations to our very talented Year 5 and 6 students!
Late to School - A reminder that if your child is late to school they need to be accompanied to the Office first where they will be recorded as “late”. They may then be taken to class. Thank you for your assistance.
Prep 2018 Transition - We have our first round of transition visits scheduled between 9.15 and 10.30 next Thursday 30th November. Two further sessions on Wednesday 6th December and Tuesday 12th December are also planned. An information session for parents on the school’s approach to English will be held in the Staff Centre while the students are involved in next week ’s classroom activities.
Start of School 2018 - A note for your calendar that students in Year 1 to Year 6 commence school for 2018 on Wednesday 31st January. 2018 Prep students will have interviews scheduled this week and a start in classes on Monday 5th February. Teachers will be at school on the 29th and 30th January undertaking important professional development and planning to ensure a successful start to the year. The uniform shop will be open from 9am to 11am on Tuesday 30th January for the last minute uniform requirements.
Compass - As indicated last week Compass will be going live for parent access from Monday 27th November 2017. Parents/Guardians will receive their Compass Login letters this week. Logging in and regularly using Compass will assist our further implementation.
To assist with a smooth transition modules will be introduced gradually to our school community. Parents/guardians will be able to access information regarding upcoming events and news via the Newsfeed and Calendar areas, view up-to-date class and school attendance information for your child, enter upcoming or past absences for child and update your registered email and mobile number (used for SMS alerts) details.
