When Jonathan Tropper and David Schickler first came in to pitch nshee to me and myproducing partner Peter Macdissi, I was struck by how thorough and vivid the world that theyhad created for the show was. No matter what questions we asked, they had already figuredout an answer. Characters were more than mere archetypesthey were fully fleshed out, withcomplicated histories that could be mined for stories for years to come. The town of Bansheeitself had just as complex a history. Mythic small-town America. Original tribal lands of theKinaho Indians. New world home to the old-world ways of the Pennsylvania Dutch. Drugdealers. Neo-Nazi skinheads. Ukrainian gangsters. Dumb rednecks. Badass Asian cross-dressers. Your typical pastoral American town with a dark, seedy underbelly of sex and violenceand greed and impossible love.

Then Greg Yaitanes came on board to run the show, and I started watching episodes cometogether. Gregs vision really brought the world to life and I loved how dense the world of nshee continued to become. A title sequence tells a different story in every episode. Asurprise scene after end titles. Prequel scenes giving us a glimpse of earlier moments incharacters lives. Bits of story spread across a variety of platforms, always making the worldeven richer and vivid.

Of course, there had to be a comic book. nshee has had a graphic novel feel to it since thevery beginning. And what better medium to tell the story of the fateful night when Lucas andCarrie (nee Anastasia) attempted what was supposed to be their last heistand how that nightchanged each of their lives forever?
