The Nature of Baobabs

Their seeds are invisible at first, undetectable until one of them decides to wake up and take root in the planet's soil.

When they are young, they look innocent and cannot be distinguished from the rose bushes (the good plants)

However, if they are allowed to grow big enough, they will be unable to get rid of afterwards.

The Behavior of Baobabs

They can clutter everything, leaving no room for other plants. Their roots can bore right through a planet. If the baobab is big enough, it can actually make the entire planet explode.

The Emotion Towards Baobabs

Everybody knows that baobabs are very dangerous.

The inhabitants of a planet have to destroy the baobab bushes before they get the chance to grow into trees.

How to Deal with Baobabs

As soon as the baobab trees can be distinguished from the rose trees, they must be gotten rid of.

However, some people are too lazy to get rid of the baobab trees.  As a result, their planets get blown up.

The Author's Life and Baobabs

The baobabs could be based on a time when he or someone he knew started becoming mentally unstable because he was thinking about negative thoughts.  As a result, that person's mind "exploded", and he went mad or committed suicide.

What is the symbol?

The baobab trees represent negative thoughts, the rose bushes represent helpful thoughts, the inhabitant of the planet represents a person and the planet represents the mind of that person.   Like baobabs, the thoughts are undetectable until they take root in the person's mind and start growing.

At first, negative thoughts can be helpful and resemble good thoughts.  For example, anger towards another competitor can make you more determined to win a competition.

What is the symbol? (part 2)

However, if negative thoughts are left to grow stronger and stronger, they can take root in your mind permanently and it will be very hard to get rid of the thought. Negative thoughts can clutter up your mind and leave no room for positive thoughts because the person will always be thinking of that negative thought.

If the negative thought is big enough, they can destroy the person's mind (drive him mad).

That is why you must try to get rid of a negative thought as soon as you recognize it.
