Page 5: BARNET FC · Camp SUMMER SCHOOL YEAR 1 – SCHOOL YEAR 9 Times: ... match and the presentation of the man of the match award. Welcome to The Hive for this evening’s pre season friendly,

Before I get onto the football, I’d like to say a massive thank you to the Bees fans for continuously turning up in your numbers to support the boys during pre-season.

Your efforts have really given an edge to these pre-season fixtures and as a team, we can’t thank you enough.

Looking back at the Peterborough game, I’ve had a few days to reflect and I keep trying to drill into the players that I want us to pass with a purpose.

We’ve proven in pre-season games already that there’s an understanding there. We’ve scored some good goals over the last few weeks and the energy levels have been there.

The work ethic of the boys throughout pre-season and their attitude towards what we’re asking them to do has been brilliant – there’s been a good mood about the place.

The fans have hopefully enjoyed some of the football that they’ve seen so I do feel that there’s a togetherness which I’ve harped on about from day one.

I’ve been really pleased with the boy’s attitude and we look forward to welcoming

Arsenal this afternoon who will no doubt prove a stern test and help us see where we’re at ahead of the opening day of the season.

Pre-season has felt like it’s gone quite quickly down to the attitude and work ethic of the team. We’ve been very thorough in our preparation for pre-season.

Everyone’s got a good amount of minutes on the pitch and the boys are chomping at the

bit for the start of the season.

Enjoy the match and#LetsBeeTogether

Darren

Page 9: BARNET FC · Camp SUMMER SCHOOL YEAR 1 – SCHOOL YEAR 9 Times: ... match and the presentation of the man of the match award. Welcome to The Hive for this evening’s pre season friendly,

“It would be great to have as many fans here as possible for the Yeovil game!

I thought we played really well in the first half on Saturday against Peterborough, their goal came from a direct free-kick which was a good finish. We played some good stuff and you could see that by how frustrated their manager was on the touchline.

They showed that they are a top side in the second half and got those couple of goals but even still I think we played well in stages. It is more minutes in the tank as we build up to the start of the season against Yeovil.

Tonight will be a good test, yes they aren’t bringing a first team squad, but you have to a very good player to be at Arsenal. It will be a different kind of test to the other games, they will want to play neat football and keep

it on the floor but it is a great chance to assert our experience.

We had a very good turnout for the Palace match and a good result to match, hopefully we can put in a good performance and inspire as many people as possible to come back for the Yeovil match next Saturday.

The next time we are here it will be for the first game of the season against Yeovil, I can’t wait to start playing for points again and get pre-season behind us.

Come on you Bees!

In the Community

Premier League KicksWe have been very busy this year with our social inclusion project, Kicks, funded by the Premier League Charitable Fund. We have engaged with over 400 young people this year with delivery continuing over the summer period. We have also had three young people complete upward of 30 hours of volunteering and have now started their FA Level One Football Coaching Awards.

We have also participated in a number of competitions this year, most notably, the PL Kicks Cup hosted at Warwick University, Coventry. For the first year we took both a male and female team to represent the club with the girl’s team finishing as runners-up!

Premier League Primary StarsThe Bees in the Community team has had a positive year with their Premier League Primary Stars program with the project engaging 30 local primary schools, in Barnet and Harrow, across the year.

This year, there has been a real growth in our activity in this program, with 12 schools receiving a terms worth of support to improve their PE provisions for students. The schools we have worked with this year are: Broadfields, Orion, Roxeth, St. John Fisher, Sunnyfields, St. Johns, Camrose, St. Pauls, Woodlands, St Teresa’s, St Anselms and Marlborough.

With schools also getting involved in our English and PSHE across curricular activity. We have been lucky enough to have guest speaker Paul Hannaford come down to one local primary school to talk around gang activity and knife crime in a whole school assembly. As well as player visits to schools to motivate and inspire the next generation of footballers.

We want to say a massive thank you to all schools, teachers and students that supported the program this year and we can’t wait to see you all again in September!

The visiting students then had lunch along with a tour of the Hive Stadium before attending their very own press conference where they had the opportunity to ask lots of questions to the author and to some players. They were also given a matchday programme from our historic FA Cup match versus Brentford FC last season and an autograph book each to take away along with a copy of ‘Respect’ written by Michaela Morgan.
