Good Afternoon and welcome back to The Hive London for our fixture against Maidenhead United. I would also like to welcome Alan Devonshire as well as his players, staff, officials and supporters.

The two away games we have just played, both in Kent, have been good for us. I thought that in both games, we have controlled them which I’ve been pleased with. Against two sides that have made an impact in the last few years, Dover have always been there or thereabouts and a good win there was confirmed when Ebbsfleet could only go there on Tuesday and draw.

It was an incredibly hot day and I thought we attacked well but we defended perfectly and I felt that going into the game off the back of a couple of decent performances, I felt that we looked confident and that we showed it too.

There was another goal for Jack Barham as well, his confidence is high at the moment and that led us into the Bromley game. They were FA Trophy finalists last season, their record at home was very good and our performance, for different reasons, was possibly the best of the four we have won. From start to finish, we were in control. Late on in the game, they took a gamble and pushed the centre back forward and from every angle tried to get the ball in our box. Mark only had to make one save and we defended our box superbly. Everyone deserved a massive well done.

Our supporters have a big part to play. I know there is always the old adage that when the team

is playing well, we’ll get behind them - if they’re not, that’s more difficult and I get that. From the kickoff, we need you behind us because our form has been good. I’ve done this job for so long, sometimes the team won’t be at its best, and the crowd can pick up the team. Sometimes, supporters aren’t at their best and the players can pick them up, it’s a two-way street.

This is your club, the players just work for your club. When they’re gone, you will still be here. You need to make this work for you, the support at Dover and particularly at Bromley was terrific. I understand frustrations and I understand disappointments, I am a football supporter myself. But, you’ve seen what is possible and supporters can help make that happen.

Hopefully, we can get the same response today, both

on the pitch and in the stands, as we got on Tuesday

night.

It looks like we have definitely turned a corner now, but it’s still only the first week of September. August was a tough month with a lot of games in a short amount of time and we have had a lot of new players that have come in.

We seem to have found the right ingredients to start winning games and putting results together and, of course, it’s nice to get four wins in a row - even more so after three defeats before that. Hopefully, this is just the start of something and it won’t peter out.From my playing experience, I know Maidenhead are going to, first and foremost, be a hard-working team. It’s going to be a tough game for the boys and they’re capable of getting a result. Our approach

has to be spot on if we want to take a positive result going into Leyton Orient next week.

Personally, I’m feeling better. I’ve started doing a little bit on the anti-gravity treadmill and hopefully, if there is no reaction, I can start to increase my workload with Luigi next week. Fingers crossed, it won’t be too much longer until I’m back fit!

IN THE BEGINNING...

The origins of senior football in Maidenhead can be traced back to October 1870 with the formation of Maidenhead Football Club, who subsequently played their first ever fixture on December 17th, 1870 against Windsor Home Park at Bond’s Meadow near Maidenhead bridge. On Thursday, February 16th 1871 the club played their first game on the York Road site against Marlow. This ground, which was then shared with the cricket club, is now officially acknowledged as the oldest continually used football ground in the world by the same club, eclipsing Northwich Victoria’s old claim by five years. Maidenhead were one of the original 15 entrants for the first ever FA Cup competition in 1871-72 and the following season reached the last four before losing to Oxford University. Maidenhead reached the quarter-finals in the next two seasons, but in 1876 did not enter, although this was the only season they failed to participate. They also entered the first ever Berks & Bucks Cup competition in 1878 - winning the competition for the first time in 1895 - and the first FA Amateur Cup in 1893. The adopted club colours were Red & Black, initially worn as halved shirts, but changed to stripes in 1904.

IN THE BEGINNING...

Maidenhead FC merged with three sides before the Great War. Maidenhead Excelsior were founded in 1877 and joined forces with the Red & Blacks in 1885. Maidenhead Temperance – originally known as Maidenhead Band of Hope - amalgamated with the club in 1891 and Boyne Hill FC did likewise later that year. After many seasons of playing friendlies and Cup matches, Maidenhead FC were founder members of the Southern League in 1894 but competing in Division 2 with the likes of Watford, Brentford, Fulham and Brighton proved too demanding

and the club consistently struggled. Eventually in 1902, after eight years of membership, they resigned and joined both the West Berkshire League and the Berks & Bucks League. In 1904 Maidenhead became members of the Great Western Suburban League where they remained until the outbreak of the Great War.

SPARTANS AND CORINTHIANS

After the Great War the two remaining town clubs – Maidenhead and Maidenhead Norfolkians (founded 1884) - decided to join forces. The conflict had meant that is was unrealistic to run two senior clubs, so after a meeting in April 1919, the Norfolkians were incorporated into the Maidenhead club, and soon afterwards a kit of black and white was adopted as club colours. There was immediate success in the first season of structured league football as Maidenhead FC won the Great Western Suburban League. In August 1920 the suffix “United” was added but, more importantly, the freehold of York Road was purchased for £1,450 from William Grenfell, later to become Lord Desborough. Two years later the club joined the Spartan League and the 500 seater grandstand – at the time considered one of the best of its kind - was opened by Club President, Ernest Dunkels.

Maidenhead United won the Spartan League title three times during their nineteen year stay. In 1929-30 season the club’s goal-scoring record for a season was set when Jack Palethorpe notched 65 goals in 39 games, including an individual post 1919 record of seven in one game against Wood Green Town. Jack went on to play for Sheffield Wednesday and scored in the Owls FA Cup win in 1935. In 1936, Maidenhead reached the semi-final of the FA Amateur Cup losing 4-1 to Ilford at West Ham in front of 18,000 spectators. It was during that season that the record attendance for a Maidenhead home match of 7,989 was set when Southall visited York Road in the quarter-

final. During the Second World War, the club competed in the Great Western Combination.

In 1945 the club were founder members of the Corinthian League. After many seasons of relative mediocrity, fortunes changed under the guidance of ex-Brentford forward, Len Townsend, and then former Slough Town manager Jimmy Price, and the Magpies enjoyed the first real “purple-patch” in their history. In seven seasons between 1956 and 1963 the club won the league three times, were runners-up twice and also reached the third round of the FA Amateur Cup in 1960, losing to West Auckland at York Road in front of a post-war record attendance for a Maidenhead game of 5,597. As well as County Cup, County Benevolent Cup and League Memorial Shield successes during this period, the 1st round proper of the FA Cup was reached in 1960 (losing 5-0 away to Colchester United), 1962 (losing 3-0 at home to Wycombe Wanderers) and 1963 (losing 2-0 to Bath City at York Road).

ATHENIANS AND ISTHMIANS

In 1963, United joined the Athenian League finishing a best placed 3rd in 1965-66. In 1973, the Magpies were elected into the newly created second division of the Isthmian League. They made a concerted effort to achieve promotion to the Premier Division in 1979 and 1980 when managed by Geoff Anthony (finishing 3rd on both occasions), and then again in 1985 under Brian Caterer and Colin Lippiatt, when they finished 4th. They remained in this division until 1987 when the Club suffered relegation for the first time in its history, and the dark days were made worse with the destruction of the main grandstand by an arson attack in December 1986. It took four seasons to get out of Division Two South, and this was achieved under the guidance of Martyn Spong in 1991. An Isthmian League record of 13 straight wins at the start of 1990-91 season was the springboard to success, but the club lost out on the title to Abingdon Town on the last day of the season. During this season, however, the team established a club record of 19 league games without defeat. Following the unexpected departure of Spong to Enfield in the summer of 1991, Gary Goodwin, John Clements and then John Watt took on the manager’s job with generally moderate results and the club regularly finished in or around mid-table.

THE ALAN DEVONSHIRE YEARS

Following John Watt’s dismissal in the summer of 1996, the Club appointed a new management team of Martyn Busby, the former QPR and Notts County midfielder, and Alan

Devonshire the former West Ham and England midfielder. Although Busby left midway through the first season, Devonshire guided United to their first Cup success since 1970 by winning the Isthmian League Full Members Cup, and this was to herald the beginning of the club’s second “purple-patch”. In each season between 1996 and 2003 Maidenhead reached a cup final, winning five and losing two. After coming agonisingly close to promotion in 1997-98 season, two years later in 1999-2000 United made another concerted effort to reach the Isthmian League Premier Division. Despite the odd hiccup, on Thursday, 4th May, a 1-0 home win against Champions Croydon guaranteed promotion. A new 700 capacity covered enclosure at the Canal end of the ground was completed in May 2000 together with new terracing on the railway side. In the summer of 2002 Chairman Roger Coombs announced that he would step down at the end of 2002-03 season and, in April 2003, Manager Alan Devonshire followed suit by announcing intention to leave the club at the season’s end. Maidenhead finished a best ever 10th in the league and Devonshire’s final game in charge (his 349th) saw the Magpies regain the County Cup by thrashing Aylesbury United 4-1 at Chesham.

CONFERENCE SOUTH AND A RETURN TO THE SOUTHERN

The summer of 2003 saw new manager John Dreyer have to bring in virtually a new squad of players and, despite an uninspiring start, United secured Conference South football on the last day of the season. This was the highest level the club had played at since the Southern League days in the late nineteenth century. In 2004-05 season, an indifferent start saw Dreyer replaced by Dennis Greene but the club still finished in a relegation position only to be reprieved following the demise of Hornchurch. Following a somewhat dismal start to the 2005-06 season Greene was dismissed and replaced by Carl Taylor. Taylor was briefed with the task of establishing the club in the Conference South, but proved incapable of this and the club were to finish adrift at the bottom of the table. However, in November 2005, a financial crisis loomed. A desperate situation was resolved when the members voted to wind up the existing member’s club, and ownership was transferred to a new Limited Company set up by sponsors Pharmalink Consulting. Taylor was given the backing of the board to continue as manager as the club returned to the Southern League after a 102 year absence, but after a mediocre start to the season Taylor left the club. Former Yeading manager Johnson Hippolyte, known as “Drax”, was appointed and had immediate success guiding the club to their first FA Cup First Round proper appearance in 35 years. The Magpies eventually lost 2-0 at home to Stafford Rangers in a replay in front of 1,934 people. Improvement in their

league form took a little longer and in January 2007 the club occupied 18th place. However an amazing run of 12 wins from the final 14 league games saw the Magpies finish fourth and qualify for the play offs. The winning run then continued in the semi final at Kings Lynn with a 1-0 triumph and, in the final played four days later, the Magpies beat league runners-up Team Bath 1-0 at Twerton Park, Bath to return to the Conference South just a year after relegation.

BACK IN CONFERENCE SOUTH...

Since returning to Conference South in 2007-08 season, Maidenhead have finished the season in 17th, 6th, 16th, 19th and 20th place. The 1st round proper of the FA Cup was reached in 2007 but the side were comprehensively defeated at Horsham by 4-1 in front of a 3,379 crowd. Maidenhead won the County Cup for the 20th time in 2010 defeating Wycombe Wanderers 3-2 at Marlow. In the summer of 2011, new perimeter railings were installed around the pitch surround and the shelter at the Bell Street end painted as the club endeavoured to improve their York Road home where they have now played for 141 years. A very promising 2011-12 pre-season campaign saw the club win all nine of their friendly matches scoring 31 goals and included victories against a Notts County XI and Hayes & Yeading United. This season also saw the club reach the 1st round proper of the FA Cup where they met Aldershot Town from League 2. This was the first time in their history that Maidenhead had been drawn at home to a league club in the competition proper. In front of a crowd of 2,281, the Magpies took the lead in the eighth minute through Anthony Thomas before the visitors secured a

draw with a goal from Michael Rankine twelve minutes from the end. The Shots won the replay at the Recreation Ground ten days later by 2-0. On the field, the league season ended in bitter disappointment as despite a 4-3 win over Eastleigh thanks to Paul Semakula’s goal in the third minute of injury time, the club finished in 20th place and was relegated back to the Southern Premier. However, the demise of Kettering Town saw the Magpies reprieved and they will remain members of Conference South in 2012/13 season. The match at Sutton United on 25th August 2012 was manager Johnson “Drax” Hippolyte’s 300th game in charge, a total only exceeded by Len Townsend (473 games) and Alan Devonshire (349).

Carl, who runs his own goalkeeping academy, is held in high regard at York Road for his calm consistent approach to the game. Has played in every league match since joining the Magpies making two vital penalty saves in the title winning 2016/17 campaign, finishing with the best keeping record in the division. Marked his 150th full appearance for the Magpies with a cleansheet at Leyton Orient in the penultimate match of last season. 2017/18 Record 53+1. Career Record 151+3.

Versatile defender who signed in the summer of 2018 from Eastleigh. Ayo started his career at Sheffield Wednesday, a successful youth career leading to the offer of a professional contract from the Owls. After three seasons at Hillsborough, he moved to Charlton Athletic but spent most of his time at the Valley on loan at Dagenham. Arriving at Eastleigh in 2016, Ayo initially filled the right back role for the Spitfires before moving into the centre of defence. Scored twice against the Magpies last season from the penalty spot.

Inspirational captain who joined manager Alan Devonshire in moving from Braintree Town to York Road in May 2015. Alan is a commanding centre back who was at Cressing Road for almost three seasons, making over 100 appearances. He has also played for Wealdstone and Wycombe Wanderers. Club captain, Alan gained national fame when he gave the Magpies the lead live on BT Sport in the FA Cup 1st Round replay against Port Vale at York Road. Ever present in the title winning season, leading the parsimonious defence by example, he reached the hundred appearance mark for United early on last season. 2017/18 Supporters’ Player of the Year Runner-Up. 2017/18 Record 51. Powerful utility player who returned to the Magpies in the summer of 2017 after two seasons away from York Road. Adrian trained with Arsenal as a youngster, then began his senior career in the Isthmian league with Romford, Waltham Forest and East Thurrock United. He stepped up to the National League South with Maidenhead in 2013, his attacking runs from midfield leading to him winning the 2014 Managers Player of the year award. A move to Havant in 2015 was marred by injury and he spent time on loan at Staines last season, Montserrat international. Alan Devonshire used him solely as a striker last season. Known as Sauce, Harold began his United career on the right side of midfield and quickly impressed with some dazzling displays of dribbling, exemplified by his debut goal for the club to seal a win at top of the table Sutton in September. He started his career at Hayes & Yeading United and has also turned out for Chelmsford City and Wealdstone. Wrote himself into the Magpie history books with his thrilling last gasp equaliser in the FA Cup first round tie at Port Vale. Captained the team in Alan Massey’s absence. Generally plays on the right side of midfield. Briefly left the club midway through last season to sign for Hampton but returned to York Road for pre season training.

He started his career at Port Vale and went onto play for Clyde, Wrexham, York City, Chester, Nantwich, Stafford Rangers and Telford before arriving in Maidenhead’s division with Chelmsford City in 2013, going onto play for Hayes and Yeading. A tough tackling central midfielder, Christian has also filled in across the back four when required. Scored the goal that won the 2017 Berks & Bucks Senior Cup Final and marked his 50th full appearance for the Magpies with a goal in the final match of last season against Bromley, only six days after completing the London Marathon. 2017/18 Record 20+28 (3). Local striker who returned to the area in the summer of 2018 when he signed for the Magpies from Dover. Ryan made his name at Burnham over nine years starting in the Blues academy. 45 goals in Burnham’s 2013 Southern League Division One title winning season earned him a move to Portsmouth where he made his professional debut and notched his first league goals. A year later, following loan spells at Havant and Cambridge United, he moved permanently to the latter on their return to the Football League. His time at the Us featured a loan spell at Hartlepool and in the summer of 2015 he joined Yeovil. Despite enjoying his best league season with the Glovers, scoring eight times in thirty six outings, Bird then returned to non league and played for Eastleigh and Newport before arriving at Dover in the summer of 2017.

ALAN DEVONSHIREMANAGER

Is an English former professional footballer who is the current manager of Maidenhead United. He was a wide midfielder who played for West Ham United, with whom he won the FA Cup in 1980, and Watford, where he finished his career in 1992. Devonshire won eight caps for England between 1980 and 1983. He subsequently became a manager with Maidenhead United, Hampton & Richmond Borough and Braintree Town.

Born in Park Royal, then a part of Middlesex, Devonshire had been a schoolboy footballer but had been turned away by Crystal Palace at age 14 for being too small. He returned to Selhurst Park two years later and played a couple of youth team games but was again released by the club, this time by former West Ham player and Palace manager, Malcolm Allison. Devonshire started playing for non-league Southall and in doing so came to the attention of league clubs such as Reading, Southampton, and Brentford. By day he worked as a fork-lift truck driver at the Hoover Factory in Perivale, Middlesex. During this time he was spotted playing for Southall by West Ham United scouts, Eddie Baily and Charlie Faulkner who recommended him to West Ham manager, Ron Greenwood. Devonshire signed for West Ham United in 1976 for a fee of £5,000, a transfer which has led to him being referred to as “West Ham’s best ever buy”.

Devonshire made his debut for West Ham on 27 October 1976 in a League Cup tie against Queens Park Rangers, in which West Ham lost 2–0. He made his League debut three days later on 30 October 1976 against West Bromwich Albion, where he played in a 3–0 defeat. He soon became a fans’ favourite, who referred to him by his nickname “Dev”. His workman-like attitude was one to which the fans could relate. He also enhanced his rapport with supporters by travelling to home game on the London Underground from his West London home.

Devonshire was selected to play for England by his former manager at West Ham, Ron Greenwood. He made his debut on 20 May 1980 in a 1–1 draw against Northern Ireland. Greenwood selected him again on 31 May 1980 in a friendly game against Australia, which England won 2–1.

Devonshire began his management career as manager of non-league club Osterley and Brentford Women. He then became the manager of Hampton & Richmond Borough in the Conference South. He was previously manager of Maidenhead United.

As manager of Hampton & Richmond, he took the club from Isthmian League Division One South to the play-off-final of the Conference South. In his first season, he guided them to fifth place in the Isthmian Division One South which due to re-organization of the leagues was enough to see the club promoted to the Isthmian League Premier Division. He then guided the club to a sixth-placed finish in their debut season at that level missing out on the play-offs on goal difference on the final day of the season. The 2005–06 season would see Devonshire take the team into the play-offs. Having won a dramatic play-off semi-final on penalties away to Heybridge Swifts the team then faced Fisher Athletic away who beat Hampton 3–0. Devonshire finally managed to get Hampton & Richmond Borough promoted the following season in style by bringing the Isthmian Premier Division title to the Beveree. In their debut season in the Conference South he has managed to guide his team to third place in the league and into the play-offs for the Conference National.

On 23 May 2011, Devonshire was appointed the manager of newly promoted Conference National club Braintree Town. Having declined the offer of a new contract, Devonshire left the club on 17 April 2015. He was appointed manager of one of his former clubs, National League South side Maidenhead United, on 5 May 2015.

1 Maidenhead United won the Corinthian League title for the first time in 1957/58. Grays Athletic held a seven-point advantage over the Magpies in mid-March but Maidenhead won 13 and drew one of their final 15 games. They gained a vital 2-1 victory at Grays in their penultimate match, then clinched the title with a 2-0 win at bottom club Worthing. The Magpies had trounced Worthing 7-1 at York Road six months earlier and finished with 43 points from 28 matches. They also reached the Berks & Bucks Cup final but lost 1-0 to Wycombe Wanderers. Ron Barrett, who later joined Grimsby Town, was leading marksman with 23 goals from 22 games.

Maidenhead United won the Corinthian League title again in 1960/61. The Magpies went to the top of the table in October and remained in pole position, clinching the title with a 0-0 draw at Edgware in their penultimate match. They gained 43 points from 30 games, finishing three ahead of runners-up Chesham. Maidenhead beat Windsor & Eton, Uxbridge, Edgware and Erith & Belvedere to reach the FA Cup first round proper and faced Football League opposi-tion for the first time, losing 5-0 at Colchester. They also won the Berks & Bucks Cup, defeating Chesham 2-1 in the final replay. Wally Beevers and Peter Lowen scored 40 goals between them.

Maidenhead United won the Isthmian League Full Members Cup in 1996/97. Alan Devonshire’s side defeated Molesey 2-0 and Walton & Hersham 1-0, then Chuk Agudosi scored to give the Magpies a 1-0 quarter-final victory at eventual Isthmian League champions Yeovil Town. Goals by Francis Duku, Obinna Ulasi and Tyrone Houston gave Maidenhead a 3-1 semi-final win over Sutton United. The Magpies beat Aylesbury United 3-0 in the final with goals from Micky Creighton, Gary Attrell and Duku. It was the first trophy won by Maidenhead since the Berks & Bucks Senior Cup in 1970. They finished mid-table in the Isthmian League First Division.

Maidenhead United achieved the Corinthian League and Memorial Shield ‘double’ in 1961/62. The Magpies began with a 5-2 win at Wembley and also slammed five goals past Letchworth, Erith & Belvedere and Dorking, then hammered Epsom & Ewell 7-0. They achieved a then club record 18 match unbeaten run and won the Corinthian League title by a massive seven point margin, gaining 49 points from 30 games and boasting the best defensive record. The floodlights at York Road were officially switched with a 1-1 draw in a friendly against Reading watched by 2,150. Maidenhead beat Wokingham 6-2 on aggregate in the Memorial Shield final.

Maidenhead United won promotion for the first time in 1990/91. They set an Isthmian League record by winning their first 13 games and a club record of going undefeated for 19 matches. The latter run started with a 3-0 win at Harefield in December and ended with a 2-0 defeat at Ruislip Manor in mid-April. Maidenhead clinched promotion with a 4-2 win at Eastbourne United with two games remaining. The Isthmian League Second Division (South) title race went to the final day but Abingdon Town won the title after Maidenhead were held to a 1-1 draw at Leatherhead and finished runners-up. Benny Laryea was top scorer with 35 goals.

Maidenhead United won promotion to the Isthmian League Premier Division in 1999/2000. Alan Devonshire’s side began with a 3-1 defeat at home to Leyton Pennant but then surged up the table with a 12 match unbeaten run. The Magpies gained a thrilling 4-3 victory at home to Braintree as they lost only twice in 14 games. Chuk Agudosi was leading marksman as they finished third in the Isthmian League First Division with 75 points. Maidenhead also defeated Bromley, Basingstoke Town, Whyteleafe, Bishop’s Stortford and Billericay to reach the Isthmian League Cup final for the first time. They were beaten 1-0 after extra-time by Farnborough Town.

Maidenhead United regained Conference South status at the first attempt in 2006/07. The Magpies began with a 2-1 defeat at Gloucester City, then drew their next five Southern League games. Dwane Lee scored as they took Stafford Rangers to an FA Cup first round replay. Johnson Hippolyte’s side won three successive matches in January and they surged into the promotion race with eight straight wins in March. Lee Newman was leading scorer as Maidenhead qualified for the Southern League Premier Division play-offs in fourth place after winning their final four games. They beat King’s Lynn 1-0 in the semi-finals, then Team Bath 1-0 in the play-off final.

Maidenhead United reached the FA Trophy quarter-finals in 2003/04. The Magpies drew 3-3 at Swindon Supermarine before goals by Steve Hale and Lawrence Yaku secured a 2-1 win in the replay at York Road. Hale scored twice as Maidenhead won 3-1 at Histon in the third round, then two goals by Yaku plus others from Hale, Steve Sanders and Brendon Gallen secured a 5-1 fourth round win at home to Wealdstone. Hale and Yaku scored again as Maidenhead won 2-0 at Halifax Town in the fifth round before the FA Trophy run ended with a 4-0 defeat at Canvey Island. John Dreyer’s side finished mid-table in the Isthmian League Premier Division.

10 Maidenhead United won the Conference South title in 2016/17. Alan Devonshire returned as manager and the Magpies stormed to the top with a 19 match unbeaten run, going nine points clear with a 5-0 win at home to Dartford in mid-December. The run ended with a 2-1 defeat at Wealdstone on Boxing Day but Maidenhead remained in pole position with nine straight wins. They lost 2-1 at home to rivals Ebbsfleet United in their penultimate match but clinched the title with a 3-0 victory at Margate. The Magpies boasted the best defensive record and won 30 of their 42 games, gaining 98 points. They also won the Berks & Bucks Senior Cup.

Maidenhead United took Football League opposition to an FA Cup replay for the first time in 2011/12. The Magpies won 3-2 at Farnborough in the second qualifying round replay, then beat Woking 4-1. They stormed to a 5-0 win at Godalming to reach the FA Cup first round proper. Anthony Thomas’ early goal gave the following team a 1-1 draw with Aldershot Town in front of 2,283 at York Road: Sam Beasant, Bobby Behzadi, Leon Solomon, Daniel Brown, Leigh Henry, John Scarborough, Martel Powell, Will Hendry (Andrew Fagan), Ashan Holgate, Anthony Thomas (Alex Wall), Reece Tilson-Lascaris (Manny Williams). They lost 2-0 in the replay.

Cliff AkurangTo start this striker packed edition of “A foot in both camps”, we have a blast from the past in the form of Cliff Akurang. Cliff has had quite the career and according to Wikipedia, has pulled on 23 different club shirts throughout his playing career, which spanned over nearly 20-years. Following 38 goals in 104 games for Thurrock, 31 in 45 for Heybridge Swifts, 8 in 45 for Dagenham and Redbridge and nearly 1 in 2 for Histon FC, Cliff clearly had an eye for goal. Paul Fairclough signed the forward in January 2008. 10 goals across a year-and-a-half with the Bees was a decent turn around for a player who faced stiff competition to even get game-time, with the likes of: Guliano Grazioli, Adam Birchall, Liam Hatch, Paul Furlong, Yannick Bolasie and Jason Norville all at the club at various points also. With his playing time limited, Cliff had two loan spells away from Barnet at Weymouth and Rushden & Diamonds. Akurang was released at the end of the 2009/10 season and after a brief spell with Thurrock again, Maidenhead signed the Ghanian in November 2010. 3 goals in 12 for the club was impressive so a move to Braintree Town soon took place just 4 months later in February 2011, with the player signing for his new club on his 30th birthday! Spells with Chelmsford City, Boreham Wood, Bishop Stortford and Canvey Island followed, to name a few. An interesting career with over 100 goals is still occurring though, with the ex-Chelsea youth player now manager of Coggeshall United.

Dave TarpeyA deadline day summer signing, Dave Tarpey has had a tough year-and-a-bit with the Bees. After his move to Barnet from today’s visitors, Tarpey had an exciting debut away to Swindon Town, partnering Shaq Coulthirst as we ran out 4-1 winners in Wiltshire. His second match was the polar opposite in terms of emotions; Tarpey left the field after just 5 minutes with it later being discovered the now 29-year-old had picked up an ACL injury. Just like that his season was over. That injury has continued to plague Dave this season. ‘Tarps’ was named as a substitute on the opening day of the season away to Aldershot but was soon replaced by Jack Taylor as he felt a niggle in the pre-match warm-up. Tarpey is yet to feature this campaign and recently underwent a minor operation which thankfully went well. I’m sure I speak on behalf of both sets of fans in wishing the striker a speedy recovery. Pre-Barnet, it was with The Magpies that the Englishman made his name. Following impressive tallies with Hampton & Richmond Borough and Farnborough, Tarpey was signed by Maidenhead in the summer of 2014. His low centre of gravity and pace made him a menace for defenders, with any through balls likely to be slotted home by the forward. During his three seasons, Tarpey scored a staggering 87 goals in just 124 games, making him a player who will live long in the memory of our visiting opponents.

Jake HydeWhere to start with Jake Hyde? Jake has had two spells with the Bees; joining us for the 2009/10 season and then signing in July 2012, this time being with us for two years after leaving in June 2014 for League Two York City. His second spell was more memorable though! Although Hyde bagged a late winner against Sven Goran Eriksson’s Notts County back in August 2009, Hyde’s contribution in his second stint will be fondly remembered by all. With the sun shining, a packed Underhill awash with emotion, tears were shed that afternoon as Barnet were to play their last ever match at the old ground. Nerves were mounting as a loss against Wycombe would send Barnet down to the Conference. A tense match ensued and all those pent up feelings were released in a moment of jubilation; On the 81st minute, Luke Gambin whipped in a cross from the byline which was expertly fired home by Hyde! Barnet’s last ever goalscorer at Underhill, across over 108 years of football at Barnet’s home, will forever live with Jake Hyde. Over his three-years at the club, the 6ft 1 front man netted 33 times across all competitions in 109 appearances. After his departure to York, Stevenage came calling before the Englishman moved to York Road. On 26th June 2017, Hyde joined Maidenhead permanently and played for the club 32-times in their first season in the fifth-tier, scoring on 5 occasions. Jake was released during the summer and is now playing for Woking.

We gentlemen of a certain age will remember Nationwide, the teatime news and current affairs magazine. It was here that I first came across Richard Stilgoe. His songs were often satirical, but for some reason, he warbled a tune called Maidenhead. The accompanying film was shot by the River Thames. So as Great Western trains hurtled through the town, I formed an image of a well to do commuting suburb for many years. Mr Stilgoe is possibly less well remembered these days but my research reveals that he owns the piano once played by Winifred Atwell. She enjoyed two Number One Hits in the mid-1950s, so was kind of the Drake or George Ezra of her time. Mr Ezra has sold considerably more records, but as I write trails Winifred in the chart-topping league table, even though he’s riding Shotgun. Elsewhere in this e-programme, there are doubtless references to Dave Tarpey, as we await his return after the long injury. The Magpies will assert that he is some player when fit.

York Road

“The oldest continually used ground in senior football”. There is a blue plaque which rightly proudly boasts that statistic, and one which I observed when Barnet played a pre-season friendly there a few summers ago. A 0-0 thriller, I travelled to the game with a variety of TfL transport at my disposal, catching an Overground at Hayes. However, today will be the first competitive meeting between the sides. I know this due to the work of Mr John Snow for the BFCSA website. The statistics came to an end a few years ago, which

sounds like a challenge for anyone who would like to update or transfer the data. Let John or myself know.

The 1871

Maidenhead were one of the first teams to compete in the inaugural FA Cup. Having beaten local rivals Marlow in their first game, they were to lose in their second fixture to Crystal Palace, not the current Premiership team, but a side representing the exhibition dome. Other teams involved in that historic competition included Clapham Rovers, and a Hitchin team who are ancestors of the current side. No longer trading are the Hampstead Heathans who were somehow given a bye, hence fifteen teams competed, Queen Park of Glasgow are also alive and well, and the Scottish side bizarrely reached the Semi-Finals without kicking a ball in anger.

The Encyclopaedia of British Football comments “the first competitions were far less organised than those a century later”. The word CHAOTIC comes to mind Donington School, Reigate Priory and Harrow Chequers were all scratched, and, within a few months this, so had the previously mentioned Queens Park of Glasgow, who could not afford to travel to London to replay against eventual winners the Wanderers. Exactly the same happened the following season, this in a Semi involving Oxford University. Reader, you may be bemoaning the presence of a single stop on the Northern Line, never mind the North of England, but Maidenhead persevered, reaching the quarter final the following, but perhaps regretted their stubbornness, as the University hammered them 4-0.

Road to Wembley - Charnock Richard

Great Wakering Rovers thrashed Leyton Athletic. The road to Wembley is still on for our correspondent Joe Gibney, He will return to Burroughs Park where the visitors are either Northampton Sileby Rangers or Wisbech Town. The game is being played even as we speak, so Joe awaits a new ground when the draw is made, but is probably not relishing the prospect of a replay.

Litherland Remyca - who apparently play up on Merseyside, were thrown out of the competition for apparently not paying a £10 fine on a suspended player. All of which means Charnock Richard have been reinstated so will feel that the Arch is within touching distance. Then again Richard probably thought the same in the 1970s when they competed in Jeux Sans Frontieres in the Fil Rouge under the watchful eye of Uncle Eddie. If looks could kill they probably will.

Maidenhead this Year

Both sides suffered similar starts to the season, before beginning to ease the pressure with consecutive victories. A week ago they drew with Bromley, so are adapting slowly. Maidenhead has enough of a history to make this article possible. However, think of me in the days to come as I plan an essay on Kirkham and Wesham. That’s Fylde in new money, and before I start my research, can guarantee that there is no history of clashes between both these sides and the Bees. Wish me luck.

The Bees got off to the worse possible start, however. In the second minute, a ball was launched over the top of the Barnet defence, Elliott Romain latched onto it and calmly finished past Mark Cousins.

After a frantic opening period, the game settled down but not before an almost identical ball over the top found Lamar Reynolds, but this time Cousins was equal to it.

Barnet began to pepper the Dagenham box with crosses midway through the first half, David Tutonda’s good delivery from the left had to be plucked out of the air by Elliott Justham.

Byron Harrison then setup Jack Barham, making his first start at The Hive, but his shot from 20-yards went just wide. Barham teed up Jack Taylor soon after but his half-volley went over.

The visitors had a major let off on the half hour mark when ‘keeper Elliott Justham handled outside of the box but was shown just a yellow card by referee Adrian Quelch.

Barnet tied the game in the 42nd minute. Good play down the left between Tutonda and Harrison, the latter found Fonguck on the overlap who placed it low into the bottom left corner for his first professional goal.

After the break, Justham was forced to tip over a free kick from Jack Taylor before Cousins was called into action when he pulled off a great save through a crowd of bodies to palm Will Wright’s low effort around the post.

Barnet would take the lead in the 64th minute when Harrison set the ball up kindly for Jack Barham who unleashed a great half volley from the edge of the box that flew into the top right corner.

Barham had a chance to double his tally from Tutonda’s cross but his header was saved.

The Bees kept pressing for a third, as Dagenham defenders throw their bodies on the line to deny both Robson and Harrison from close range in the 83rd minute.

Dagenham substitute Tomi Adeloye had two great headers late on, the first went wide from under the crossbar and the second well saved by Cousins.

Cousins was the hero in the third minute of stoppage time as he got across quickly to stop Chike Kandi’s effort at the far post.

A perfect Bank Holiday for the Bees as they take maximum points from two games in 48 hours.

Barnet took he lead in just the fourth minute of the match. Byron Harrison’s header found the feet of Jack Barham on the edge of the box. He made space for himself before curling the ball into the top right corner.

The Bees doubled their lead in the 26th minute of the game. Harrison lead a counter attack and played in Jack Taylor to his left. His cross goal shot was saved and the ball fell to Barham. He lifted a cross into the unmarked Harrison who headed home under the crossbar.

Dover’s best chance of the first half came from a George Smith free kick. His effort it the wall but it came back in towards the head of Schmoll but he was met by Mark Cousins.

After the break, Aryan Tajbakhsh picked up a loose ball in the midfield. He floated cross into the box but this was comfortable for Cousins in the Barnet goal to claim.

Mitch Walker was forced into a good low save away to his left as he parried away Charlee Adams’ low half volley from the edge of the box.

In the 65th minute, Dover’s pressure played off when Mitch Brundle had a free header and rose highest at the far post to score.

10 minutes later, Barham rounded the Dover goalkeeper but was brought down by Schmoll but with another man in white back, was shown just a yellow.

Cousins was called into action again when Brundle’s free kick looked certain to nestle in the bottom right corner.

On the counter, Wes Fonguck raced down on goal after a good passing move from the Bees, but he took too long to get a shot away and Walker smothered.

Cheye Alexander struck the upright before substitute Josh Walker had an effort deflected just wide.

In stoppage time Harrison played through Walker but he was tight to the goal line and could only win a corner, from which Barnet saw out the game.

The building tension and inner tears as the clock ticked ever closer to 3pm. The heart-pounding drama of the game itself. The rush of euphoria when Jake Hyde slotted in Luke Gambin’s cross with just ten minutes to go. And the even louder explosion of pure joy when Graham Stack saved Joel Grant’s 92nd minute penalty to protect that slim lead over Wycombe and see the Bees home.

They are all parts of the collective consciousness of the 6,001 people present that day; the stuff of folklore and fantasy – but also definite reality – as the Bees waved farewell to Underhill in the most incredible fashion after 106 years of tenancy. Nothing can take those memories away.

I’d like to share a couple of my own powerful, and personal, memories of the occasion. The first concerns the music played. It took a full week to pull together the pre-match and half-time track list, drawing from supporters’ suggestions of Barnet anthems from the past as well as songs that seemed “just right” for the occasion. I still have the full list on file somewhere, but it included songs like “Fanfare for the Common Man”, “Popcorn”, “Won’t Get Fooled Again, “All Together Now”, “Sound and Vision” and, of course, “Twist and Shout” – plus pertinent pieces like “Don’t Stop Believing”, “Holding Out for a Hero” and “Just Stand Up”.

That left one important question: what song should be played at the final whistle as the last song ever at Underhill? After much consideration, the single word answer came back from the club: “Encore”. Unfortunately, my

intermediary was no music man, and couldn’t tell me who the artist was. And there were a host of songs with this title.

It was now less than 24 hours before the game, and I was getting pretty tense.

After numerous phone calls back and forth, it was narrowed down to Jay-Z. Not the Jay-Z/Linkin Park mash-up that went Platinum and won a Grammy, but the original album version. That made a BIG difference, because there wasn’t a “radio friendly” edit of the song to be found, and with a relentless run of expletives packing out the lyrics there was zero chance of bleeping that much out!

Thankfully - as late as 10.30 on the very morning of the match - an instrumental version of the song surfaced on the radar and everything was hurriedly put to bed.

That’s the true story of the song that brought the Underhill era to a close.

My other abiding memory – and a much shorter story – concerns the very final address made on the microphone after the final whistle and celebrations had subsided: “What a long, strange trip it’s been.”

That one was pulled out of the air in the emotion of the moment, but hopefully captured the spirit of the day and recent history of the club. It certainly captured the spirit of the previous 24 hours for me.

After former Bolton Wanderers, Newcastle United and West Ham United star Kevin Nolan was sacked after just five games last week, League 2 side Notts County have signed another former Premier League player as manager. Former Leeds United, Liverpool and Galatasaray player and Crawley Town manager Harry Kewell joins the side, who currently sit bottom of the Football League, having not won a game all season. Their loss against Forest Green Rovers last weekend leaves them with just one point. 39-year-old Kewell says that he is “excited by the ambition” of Magpies chairman Alan Hardy. “The club deserves needs to be up there and deserves a lot better” said Kewell. “I am here to work hard and get the club back where it should be. We want promotion”.

Also appointing a new head coach this week was Bradford City, bringing in David Hopkin. Hopkin replaces Michael Collins, who leaves the club in 17th place in League 1, having been sacked on Monday. The former Chelsea, Crystal Palace and Leeds United midfielder joins the side, who he played for 11 times for back in 2001, as their fifth manager of 2018. Phil Parkinson left in February, having joined the side in the summer of 2016. His successor was caretaker manager Greg Abbott, who took charge of several games. He was then replaced by permanent manager Simon Grayson, who left over the summer to be replaced by Collins in June. Hopkin arrives from Scottish Premiership side Livingston, who he helped to two successive promotions in his 3 seasons with the club.

Despite Kewell having only joined the club during the week, County have already made their first signing under him, picking up Elliott Ward. The 33-year-old was a free agent, having been released by former club Blackburn Rovers over the summer. Having been born in Harrow, he started out his career with West Ham United, before playing for the likes of Coventry City, AFC Bournemouth and Huddersfield Town. He has also previously scored 3 times in 31 games for County’s cross-city rivals Nottingham Forest. The defender has been brought in for an attempt to help the sides’ defensive record this season, having conceded 16 times in their 6 games so far.

Leigh Robinson, the newly appointed manager of National League South side Truro City, has said that he hopes to turn the club around after his appointment. He joined the club last weekend when former manager, former Bee Lee Hodges left the club. Ahead of his first game in charge away to Gloucester City today, he and his assistant Michael Meaker said: “As a management team we have had a very successful couple of years and now ready to prove ourselves at a higher level”. The pair have recently spent time working together at Taunton Town. “We are, of course, aware that there has been a lot of uncertainty and upheaval at the club in the last few months with the stadium move and management team leaving early in the season”. So far this season, the side have not won, instead of having drawn three games and lost five, including a 3-0 away defeat to Wealdstone last weekend. This run sees them lie second bottom of the league, four points off of safety.

Maidstone United forward Joe Quigley has been called up to the Ireland Under 21 team. Already having three U21 caps to his name, he joins up with the squad as they take on Kosovo away and Germany in Dublin as part of their UEFA U21 European Championship qualifying campaign. Despite being only 21 years old, he has played for no fewer than 9 clubs. Starting out at AFC Bournemouth, he made a series of loan spells, including Poole Town, Torquay United, Wrexham, Woking, Gillingham, Newport County and Boreham Wood. He transferred to the Stones over the summer, his first permanent move.

Despite playing in the National League North, the sixth tier of English football, Nuneaton Borough have had to postpone their game against York City today due to international call-ups. In England, only the Premier League and the Championship get a break when national teams play. Theo Wharton and Harrison Panayiotou will link up with St Kitts and Nevis as they take on Puerto Rico in a CONCACAF Nations League qualifier today and Kairo Mitchell will play for Grenada against Curacao tomorrow. Boro have said that they believe that they are the only sixth-tier club to have called of a game for that reason. Ironically, the side had to call off another fixture back in March when the same players got called up, with that game happening to also come against the Minstermen. “It’s quite unfortunate for us because York is one of our bigger gates of the season,” said Adam Etheridge, the club secretary.

This weekend sees the FA Cup at its third stage of the season, the first qualifying round. Several of our local sides are involved. Wingate and Finchley host either Didcot Town or Aylesbury (the replay being before the time of writing). Ware take on Lowestoft Town, Hendon host Harlow Town, Haringey Borough travel to Brentwood Town, Harrow Borough go to AFC Hornchurch and Chesham United take on Biggleswade Town. Meanwhile, Walthamstow FC take on Beaconsfield Town, Cheshunt play Leiston and Hitchin Town entertain Godmanchester Rovers. Bedford Town travel to Enfield Town. Northwood are at home to Kings Langley and Potters Bar Town travel to Hanwell Town.

It has been reported that former England international Sol Campbell is in talks with Maidstone United about becoming their new manager. After Jay Saunders departed the Gallagher Stadium last week, Campbell became the favourite to take over. He scored 15 goals in 315 appearances over 9 seasons for Tottenham Hotspur before controversially moving to rivals Arsenal. In his 197 appearances for the gunners, he won two Premier League titles and two FA Cups, scoring 11 goals along the way. He then spent three years at Portsmouth before playing one game for Notts County in League 2. Later in his career he made a return to Arsenal and then Newcastle United before retiring.

Controversial manager and club chairman Glenn Tamplin has put National League South side Billericay Town up for sale. It was supposedly due to a fan who had reported him to police after a game against Woking last week. It resulted in the businessman being stopped by police twice after the game for apparently using cocaine, once whilst he was in his car with his children. It was later found that he had not been using drugs. In a statement after the game, he said: “It is with deep regret that I have no choice but to cut my ties with Billericay Town Football Club. The club is now up for sale with immediate effect”.

Meanwhile in the FA Vase second qualifying round next weekend, there are also several local sides in action. These include: Hoddesdon Town, as they play FC Clacton, London Lions take on the winner of the replay between Wormley Rovers and Biggleswade United, and Colney Heath will entertain Langford. Barkingside will host Wodson Park, FC Broxbourne Borough will play London Colney, Enfield Borough are going to play Sporting Bengal United, Enfield 1893 go to Hadley and Brimsdown play Bicester Town. Cricklewood Wanderers host North Greenford United, Broadfields United of Harrow play Edgware Town. Kensington Borough, now based in Leatherhead, will host Northampton Sileby Rangers.

Steve Kaplan and Jason Levien, the American owners of Championship side Swansea City have said that the club have to confront the “harsh reality” of their relegation. The pair brought a controlling 68% of the side back in 2016 and had to cut the sides’ costs over the summer, which resulted in the departure of several key players. This was partially due to the financial implications of going from the Premier League to the Championship. The pair have also revealed that they are considering getting more equity into the club by buying more shares, potentially from the Supporters’ Trust in order to help absorb some of the relegation related losses. “This is a reboot, we are doing it with young players who really want to be there. We know there are no guarantees we will get promoted in the first year in the Championship” said Kaplan. “This is a multi-year plan to get back up and, when we get back up, be sustainable”.

Due to the fact that this was our longest away day of the season, understandably my Dad chose to leave Leeds at about 10am on Friday to head down south. It took us 7 hours until we finally reached Whitstable and had a nice drive along the coast to Herne Bay where we enjoyed some chips and an ice cream as we watched the sunset. We drove back to where we were staying in Canterbury, via the cathedral at the request of my mum. As we were so close to Dover, we were able to have a lie in Saturday morning and get some breakfast before we set o�. We had planned to take a short detour via Deal as we had time to spare. Unfortunately, the sat nav had us taking some small country roads and due to some roads being closed too we ended up abandoning the plan and heading to the ground instead! We parked at the rugby club at the bottom of the steep hill leading up to the ground and trekked to the turnstiles. We watched the teams warm up and after a while they came out and all the Barnet fans moved to the terrace behind the goal we were shooting into first half.

We started the game strongly getting our first goal just 4 minutes in with Jack Barham banging it in from the edge of the box. On 26 minutes, we doubled our advantage with Harrison scoring his first goal of the season, heading the ball into the net. At halftime, we switched ends ready to cheer the lads on in the second half. We continued strongly in the second half with a few shots on goal. However, it was Dover who scored on 65 minutes making it 2-1. Both teams had some more chances and it did get a bit nervy towards the end but we managed to hang on and deservedly take all 3 points.

We walked back to the car and set o� up north stopping in Cambridge for some tea. It only took us 6 hours back and we arrived back home around 11pm. Though it was a tiring trip, it was made worth it by the lads.

KEY PERSONNEL Basildon born Justin Edinburgh is the current Gaffer at Brisbane Road.

He spent 10 seasons with Tottenham and also represented Southend Utd and

Portsmouth.

He joined Orient in November 2017 but has a wealth of managerial experience notably at Rushden & Diamonds, Gillingham, Newport County and Northampton.

Justin was a big favourite at one point (maybe even two or three) to take over at the Hive.

BRIEF DIRECTIONS BY ROADThe ground is situated off the Leyton High Road and the journey is very stop and start from whichever direction you travel. Yet from the North Circular Road (A406) by turning right at what is traditionally

known as the Crooked Billet Roundabout it is pretty straightforward. From the A406, having passed under and over the Great Cambridge roundabout and Silver Street, turn south onto the A112 Chingford Road signposted Walthamstow and Leyton. Go straight over at the A503 junction where the road becomes Hoe Street. Pass Walthamstow Central Station and carry straight on into Leyton High Road passing Leyton Midland Road Station. After another mile (still A112) the ground is accessible from side roads on your right. Please note all these access roads are all very “British”, Balmoral, Windsor, Buckingham etc. Buses 58, 69, 97 and 158 run along Leyton High Road.

CAR PARKINGRepresentatives of the club have asked me to point out that parking is severely restricted by residents permits around the stadium on matchdays.

DIRECTIONS BY TRAINThe nearest tube station is Leyton (about a 1/2 of a mile away) which is on the Central Line (Red). Out of the station and turn right down Leyton High Road. On the other side of the road, you will eventually find

Coronation Gardens on your left and the floodlights of the ground can be clearly seen behind them. Take the next left into Buckingham Road for the ground.

EATING AND DRINKING LOCALLYThe rather snug supporters bar at the ground does allow away fans and the cost on the door is £1.00. It can be found under the new West Stand and is actually listed in the CAMRA Good Beer Guide. The Coach

and Horses on Leyton High Road is now, I’m told, “home fans only” but the Leyton Technical pub on the corner of Adelaide Road is a beaut. It is built into the old Town Hall building. Lots of choice and serves food too. Something more quirky and “old school” is the Birbeck Tavern on Langthorne Road behind the Underground station. It will take you back to what a pub used to be like when the world was black and white!

GROUND DESCRIPTIONThe ground has had a major facelift in the last decade and since our first visit in the League in September 1993 the only part still basically unaltered is the main East Stand although it has some new smart

exterior cladding. It was allegedly purchased from Mitcham Greyhound Stadium, was erected in 1956 and holds around 3,500. Notice the splendid centre roof gable (now nudged along a little) which allegedly once held the dog track photo finish equipment. We will be allocated a section in this stand for the afternoon. To its left is the Tommy Johnson South Stand which seats around 1,400 and this replaced the original open away terrace. Opposite the Main Stand is the West Stand. It replaced the original stand which started life was a popular covered terrace which was made all-seated in the 1990’s. The new structure was built in September 2006. It is as it appears, an office block flanked by residential apartments with a skirt of seating for 2,800. It offers fantastic corporate facilities but is a perfect example of us saying goodbye to football ground character and welcome efficiency with commerce. The North Stand which resembles the Tommy Johnson Stand completes the picture.

CELEBRITY WATCHA luverly jubberly cockney cavalcade for your autograph books! Jonathan Woss, Graham Gooch, Fanny Cwaddock, Alfred Hitchcock, David Bailey and Angela Landsbury all are associated with the area.

Comedian Bob Mills and musician Andrew Lloyd Webber are regular visitors to the ground as is one my best and nicest customers – I must mention him - Nick Sonenfeld and his family.

OUR LAST MEETING & MEMORIES Our last visit was in January 2017 when two Ricardo Santos goals and another from Curtis Weston won it 3-1. On other bright sides of life, two Division 3 away games stand out - firstly a fantastic 3-3

draw in 1996, the Bees goals coming from Sean Devine x2 and Lee Hodges and secondly the following year when a very rare Linvoy Primus goal won it for Barnet in front of over 4,000 spectators. However, the best is left to last as is customary. A majestic two-goal Dougie Freedman performance and two quality finishes by Mark Cooper doesn’t even get close to telling the whole story of the 1994 1st Round 1st Leg Coca-Cola Cup tie at Underhill, it ranks as one of the greatest ever performances by a Barnet team in my opinion.
