The Legend of Sleepy Hollow is one play I was

ancipang to see at Barn Lot as soon as I learned it

would be performed there. I thought it was unusual for

this play to be held during early summer. It seemed moreappropriate for around Halloween.

However, as the play began, I felt transported

to the fall season, complete with a certain element of

spookiness that made for a great evening. My ancipaon

of this performance was not disappointed.

The play featured many elements that only the

folks at Barn Lot Theater can do. There was a great sense

of drama and suspense to keep the viewer on the edge of

ones seat. An occasional element of comedy to accent

the drama greatly added to the performance by giving the

viewer an opportunity to take a breath from the suspense.

Performers were very comfortable in their rolls

from the beginning of the play. If any of them felt nervous

about being on stage in front of an audience, it was not

reected in their performance. An occasional stumble in

a line was easily blended into the acon. This reects the

hard work of actors during rehearsals as well as their skill

    as performers.

Set design and costumes worked well in this

performance. There were very few changes necessary

during the play which helped to keep the acon going with

    very lile interrupon.

To Kill aBarn Lot Theaters recent presentaon

of To Kill a Mockingbird is the latest producon

of the 2010 season. This meless classic, read

by millions of school children across the naonis much more of a serious play instead of the

comedy usually held at the theater.

However, the seriousness of the subject

didnt inmidate Barn Lot. They tackled the

issues within the story head on, in a way only

    they could.

The play was led with drama that kept

the audience on the edge of their seats. One

unique point to this is there were momentsof relief from the connued drama lled with

a bit of comedy or simple innocence. These

were similar to a cool drink of tea when eang

    a spicy, but delicious meal.

A brief moment such as this gives the

Costumes t well into the performance

and were accurate to the period. The actorsdedicaon to their cra can be seen in this

performance as well. Set construcon allowed

for easy transion from one scene to another.

One of the set backgrounds could be spun

around very easily to expose an enrely

dierent scene. This highlights the ingenuity

of the sta at Barn Lot Theater

To Kill a Mockingbird was a terric
