The final saw the four families in with a chance to win the holiday to Florida, after already being drawn from hundreds of entries. The overall winner was Christine Johnston who qualified for the draw after being drawn as the winner in the third round of the competition after entering at Royston Leisure Centre where she has been a fitness member for six years.

We are delighted with how the competition has worked and on behalf of everyone at BPL I would like to say thank you to all the families that entered and congratulations to Christine and her family; we all hope you have a fantastic time in Florida commented Tim Wilson, Chief Executive of BPL

Christine, who was drawn as the winner by Barnsley FC defender Bobby Hassell, has a grandson Tyler who is taking swimming lessons at Royston Leisure Centre and she cant wait to take him to Florida.

I was really excited coming to the final draw and when I was drawn as the winner it was the first time in my life that I have been speechless! My grandson has just turned eight so this a fantastic birthday present for him. We are all looking forward going to Florida; it has made our week! commented Christine

To mark the final, BPL provided food and refreshments for all of the families who attended and even invited them to play a game of bowling in the brand new Metrodome Bowling Facility.

COLUMNINVESTING IN INFLATIONARY TIMESInflation can cause havoc for your personal finances as it erodes the real value of our money over time. Not surprisingly, research shows that as >>ivii>ii`>LiivviVV>>iii-Vi\*"vvVi->}]iv>>have dipped slightly in June, but it is significantly above the 2 per cent target set by the Bank of England. It could yet rise above the 5 per cent barrier once the widely anticipated energy price hikes are taken into account later in the year.

Inflation ran at the Bank of Englands intended target of 2 per cent, the v]`Li]i>ii> >i{iViii>>i``{x]]i>xiVii}>v]`Li]ni>i

In short, savers and investors need to have their wits about them if their money is to keep pace with inflation. But that is easier said than done, particularly given the wide disparity between inflation and interest rates.

Basic rate taxpayers need to earn interest of 5.25 per cent on their savings in order to make a real return on their money once CPI inflation is taken into account. Higher rate taxpayers are in an even worse ]ii`}iviVii>ivi`ibeing shrunk by inflation. But with interest rates at rock-bottom levels, accounts paying such high rates are very few and far between.

In inflationary times, when the real value of level income payments is eroded over a few years, it is important to find good and increasing sources of investment income.

This is the big dilemma for many savers today. Not unreasonably, they do not want to lose a penny of their hard-earned cash. But with increasing life expectancy and potential long-term care costs to consider, they will need their money to work harder for longer and this is likely to mean taking on more risk.

Inflation and uncertainty go hand in hand, but it is even more marked given the current economic turmoil. It is why investors are going to have to explore all the options to make the most from their savings and investment and maybe taking a step up the risk ladder.

  • Foot Care by Maria Nortcliffe

Appointments also available at Skin &Tonic334a Sheffield Road, Birdwell, Barnsley Telephone: 01226 747727

I recommended basic foot health care as a way of keeping feet in the best condition, daily washing and careful drying especially between toes, and removal of hard skin along with moisturising with a foot cream will help keep feet in good condition.

Smelly feet Bromodosis as its medically known is a common all year round complaint but can be worse if you are a teenager or if you are pregnant because of the fluctuation of hormones. Anti-bacterial soap is recommended along with clean socks daily and trying not to wear the same shoes two days running.

Athletes foot Athletes foot can be another cause of smelly feet. Athletes foot is caused by a fungal infection. It is contagious so is spread on shared towels, bedding and clothing and it also lives happily in showers changing rooms and swimming pools. Anti fungal treatments can be bought over the counter at the chemist. If the infection persists then you should always consult your GP.

Corns Corns are small circles of thick skin that usually develop on the >``ivi>`VV/ii>ii>i`and have a small, hard plug of skin in the centre. Corns commonly occur as a result of wearing badly fitting shoes and also when someone is standing for most of the day. Corns are best treated by a podiatrist. They will remove the hard skin and apply a dressing to take the pressure of the affected part allowing it time to heal.

Verruca A verruca is a wart on the sole of the foot. It is very contagious so hygiene is very important to stop the spread. Treatments can be bought over the counter at the chemist but they usually consist of a strong chemical that can burn the skin around the verruca unless very carefully >i` }ii>iivviVi>`ii}>>iithat the warts will not return.

Ingrowing toe nails An ingrown toenail occurs when the sides of the toenail grow into the surrounding skin. The toenail curls and pierces the skin, which becomes red, swollen and tender. Badly cut toenails and tight fitting shoes are two possible causes of ingrown toenails. Cut nails straight across, do not round the corners. Wear comfortable well fitting shoes and practise good foot hygiene. If the pain and inflammation becomes worse consult your GP or podiatrist for treatment. In most cases, an ingrown toenail can be successfully treated by either removing a section of the affected toenail or by removing the entire nail.

Their very friendly staff are always on hand to answer any questions you have about sizes, styles or the latest fashion pieces and their website is frequently updated with new ranges and items from their ever expanding list of designer labels.

6> V>vj > is now open in the evening so that people can take advantage of seeing a film or a show at the nearby Parkway Cinema or Civic and then popping into Viva for a well deserved meal and a drink or two. Modern and vibrant Viva pride themselves in offering a quality service with no compromises. We sent Party Paul from Come Dine with Me fame to check out the cafe - see opposite for his verdict.

Another New addition is the new ,ii />}-> which has just opened recently offering great rates on tanning for all including a fantastic offer for students.

With all these new businesses opening their doors on what was once a quiet part of the town we feel that Regent Street South is a vibrant place to be offering a contemporary town centre shopping environment. One thing we noticed on our visits to all of the shops mentioned here was just how attentive the staff were - nothing was too much trouble and the expierience was very pleasant to say the least. Nights out at the legendary Hacienda Nude nights in 1988 led to the meeting of minds. Originally formed by Paul Roberts, Andrew Williams, Russell Morgan and Carl Thomas, the dea was just to make a track that would get played in the Hacienda and 18 years later the K-Klass name is still going strong.

We all met at the Hacienda in 1988. We had met before, though. Andy and Carl were already established, but we had no gear at the time - it was basically an SH-101 and a little Tandy mixer says Paul Roberts

After recording the Wildlife EP, K-Klasss first major hit was Rhythm Is A Mystery, sung by Bobbi Depasois, released in 1991. The track reached number three on the UK chart.

Let Me Show You reached number 13 in 1993. Subsequently, the band purchased a disused Royal Observer Corps underground bunker in Borras for use as a recording studio. The group has released two albums, Universal, featuring the vocals of Bobbi Depasois, (right) and K2. In 1995, K-Klass won the I.D.A Best International Remixer award; the first ever UK artist to do so. They have continued to produce and remix dance tracks ever since.

K-Klass play the Back2Space Festival at The Old Post Office at Haigh on Saturday 10th September. Expect a set consisting of quality, funky house with some old skool vibes thrown in.

Tuesday 8th Sunday 11th November @ Disney On Ice returns to the Motorpoint Arena, so rev up for non stop fun with four of your favourite Disney stories.

Feld Entertainments action-packed ice spectacular, Disney On Ice presents Worlds of Fantasy, whisks audiences on a captivating adventure to four magical locations, including the auto-racing terrain of Cars and a visit to Andys bedroom for some fun with the stars of Toy Story 3. This production delights audiences with a journey under the sea to Ariels world from The Little Mermaid and then into the mystical land of Pixie Hollow for a presentation of Tinker Bell.

The on-ice excitement begins when an adventurous Mickey Mouse embarks on a journey with Minnie Mouse to uncover each world of fantasy, but the plan goes awry when their cherry red roadster unexpectedly breaks down. Although Donald Duck and Goofy try, it takes the assistance of the coolest cars on the ice to get the pistons firing again. Direct from Radiator Springs, Mater, Lightning McQueen and Sally speed into action, zipping and zooming around the frozen highway in an effort to re-energize the roadster.

As Mickey and Minnies road trip continues, Production Designer Jeremy Railtons whimsical scenery transforms the arena into an environment that captures the essence of each unique world to follow. Fluorescent coral and clam shell drums embody Ariels world in The Little Mermaid and audiences enter the colourful fantasy land of fairies for the Tinker Bell segment.

The toys are back in town! The second act of Worlds of Fantasy brings together all the fun, humour and warmth of the beloved Disney/Pixar film Toy Story 3. Woody, Jessie, Buzz Lightyear and the rest of the familiar gang hit the ice for the ultimate Toy Story experience.

Worlds of Fantasy offers the perfect combination of elements for fans of Disney On Ice. From the contemporary feel of Cars and Toy Story 3 to the timeless quality of The Little Mermaid and Tinker Bell, audiences will see four completely different Disney worlds brought to life, says producer Kenneth Feld. All of this provides a value that is truly unparalleled in the world of live family entertainment. More than ever before, theres something for everyone.
