Fri – Mar. 6th– 1:00pm Marketing Committee Mtg. Tues. – Mar. 3th– 2:00pm From the Director . . . With Town Meeting Day upon us I would like to address an issue with BASC. BASC has been a foundation in this community for over 50 years. We not only serve residents of Barre City and Barre Town but surrounding communities as well. We rely solely on member dues, grants, fundraising projects and funding from the town and city. Many of you may wonder why we are not on the 2020 ballot. This is why. In order to increase our town and city funding we have to be on the ballot which requires obtaining hundreds of signatures on petitions. BASC has never requested an increase that I am aware of. Last year I brought it to the Board that we petition for an increase. Understand that this process is very risky as we can lose ALL funding if we get on the ballot and do not receive the votes needed to pass. It takes a great amount of time and manpower to acquire these signatures. The deadline for submission is January 2. It was decided that we set a goal in 2020 to obtain everything needed to be on the 2021 ballot. We have formed new committees this year that will address various issues such as these, and we also have new Board members that have the time and energy that is needed to make positive changes happen. I need everyone to remember that being on the Board of Directors is solely on a voluntary basis. Each Board member past and present have busy lives and obligations of their own and we are fortunate to have and to have had an amazing cast of volunteers that have selflessly given their time for many, many years. With all this being said, what it boils down to is this. We have a long road ahead of us to make an increase in our funding a reality. We not only would like to increase funding from Barre City and Barre Town but also from Williamstown and Berlin. We need to gather signatures and there is a different timeline for each town. We can use your help if you would like to assist us in achieving this goal. (There are various ways to acquire signatures that will not impact you if you have physical limitations) BASC tries to offer as many no cost or low cost programs, classes and workshops as much as possible. However we do have overhead costs that must be met. We are a 501c3 non-profit organization and as I stated above, we rely on many types of funding. BASC belongs to each of you. If you have some spare time and energy and would like to help us, please contact me via email, phone or stop in and see me. You can also speak to any Board member and let them know your desires. I have a plan Of action and will be discussing it with our committee next week. Please keep in mind that any amount of time you can spend to help BASC is welcome. BASC is a great place. I see every, single day how it benefits members and I hear so many people say how thankful they are that this organization exists and how it has changed their lives for the better. I for one am very proud to be associated with BASC and am able to work with such caring and amazing people. BASC is thriving in so many positive ways and we have much to look forward to over the next several months. Several people worked very hard over the last 50 years to grow this organization and I am diligently working towards continuing that positive growth into the future. We thank you for all your support and again if you can help us in obtaining our funding goals, please speak up and let us know. We need to get started now as this is going to be a lengthy project. From the Director . .

In order to

increase our town and city funding we have to be on the ballot which requires obtaining hundreds of signatures on petitions. BASC has never requested an increase that I am aware

of. Last year I brought it to the Board that we petition for an increase. Understand that this process is very risky as we can lose ALL funding if we get on the ballot and do not receive

the votes needed to pass. It takes a great amount of time and manpower to acquire these signatures. The deadline for submission is January 2. It was decided that we set a goal in

2020 to obtain everything needed to be on the 2021 ballot.

We have formed new committees this year that will address various issues such as these, and we also have new Board members that have the time and energy that is needed to make

positive changes happen. I need everyone to remember that being on the Board of Directors is solely on a voluntary basis. Each Board member past and present have busy lives and

obligations of their own and we are fortunate to have and to have had an amazing cast of volunteers that have selflessly given their time for many, many years. With all this being said,

what it boils down to is this. We have a long road ahead of us to make an increase in our funding a reality. We not only would like to increase funding from Barre City and Barre Town

but also from Williamstown and Berlin. We need to gather signatures and there is a different timeline for each town.

We can use your help if you would like to assist us in achieving this goal. (There are various ways to acquire signatures that will not impact you if you have physical limitations) BASC

tries to offer as many no cost or low cost programs, classes and workshops as much as possible. However we do have overhead costs that must be met. We are a 501c3 non-profit

organization and as I stated above, we rely on many types of funding.

BASC belongs to each of you. If you have some spare time and energy and would like to help us, please contact me via email, phone or stop in and see me. You can also speak to

any Board member and let them know your desires. I have a plan Of action and will be discussing it with our committee next week. Please keep in mind that any amount of time you

can spend to help BASC is welcome. BASC is a great place. I see every, single day how it benefits members and I hear so many people say how thankful they are that this

organization exists and how it has changed their lives for the better.

We need to get started now as this is going to be a

lengthy project.

I thank each of you for all the support you give to me on a daily basis since becoming your Director.

My door is always open and I welcome your input. Positive, negative or otherwise. I can be contacted via email at [email protected] or by phone at the center 479-9512 or my

cell phone 793-5766. Or you can always stop in. The list of Board members are located on page three of this newsletter so please feel free to contact any of them. We have an

outstanding Board in place and they are all here to help you in any way.

BASC wishes each of you the happiest of birthdays!

your Birthday month!

Feeling Lucky? Join us for Tuesday lunches and take part in our 50/50 Raffle!!

My moms say St Patrick’s day is coming up and that they are having corned beef for lunch. Not sure what

that is but I have a feeling I’m going to like it! Sometimes when I fall asleep in my bed at work my nose

starts moving all over the place and I wake up very hungry. Has that ever happened to you? the next thing

I know my moms have food and it smells soooo good!

I make my sad face and they always share. My mom says I am not supposed to have human food so they

play this game and say “oops a piece fell off my plate”. I guess it makes them feel better to say that. I

think we should play a new game where instead of a piece falling off they should just drop the whole

plate!

Every time I have gone outside it feels like it is getting warmer. I sure hope I’m right. My paws need a

break from the ice and snow. (And sometimes my belly gets cold too because I’m so short).

I will be glad when the sun comes back. I like to find sun spots on the floor and I lay in them and I get all

warm and it makes me happy. I feel that same way when i go to work and I get my belly rubs, ear

scratches and people come and talk to me! I think everybody should find a sun spot and lay in it, then

you can feel warm and happy too!

Come and visit me, I love seeing each and every one of you! I love you all!

Well my moms were right. Valentines really is all about love! Boy did I

have fun at the valentine lunch! I got to greet a lot of people and I even

got presents! Plus lots of treats! (One of my friends told me My mom has

been telling people not to give me more than one or two treats though. I

think she is mistaken) One of the best parts of my day was visiting my

friend Christine and the Young at Heart Singers! I love it when they sing

and I get to watch them.
