Summer Kick-Off BBQ at Edgehill
The tenants of Edgehill helped Barrie Housing
kick off summer with a BBQ on June 27th.
Cotton candy, cake and games provided by
Kidz Club made for a great afternoon.
Thanks to SO’Lovely Creations for the won-
derful face painting provided and to everyone
who joined us to make the day such a good
one.
Grandma’s Potato Salad Recipe
What’s a BBQ without potato salad?
Ingredients:
8 Russet Potatoes
3 Celery Stalks, diced
Diced Dill Pickles, to taste
Diced Red Onion
8 Hard-Boiled Eggs, peeled
1 Cup Mayonnaise
1/4 Cup Dijon Mustard
Salt and Pepper
Rinse and scrub excess dirt off of your potatoes. Stab each potato with a fork to puncture it. Bring a pot of water to a boil then place potatoes in the pot. Make sure your potatoes are covered with water and reduce the heat. Allow it to sim-mer until the potatoes are tender. In another pot, start to boil your eggs. Set a timer for two minutes per egg. When the eggs are done remove them from the water and allow them to chill in an ice water bath, then peel and set aside. Remove the potatoes from water and allow them to cool off. Once your potatoes are cooled off, remove the skin then dice them. Next chop up your celery, onion, and the eggs. (Reserve a couple of eggs for garnishing your salad). In a large bowl, mix everything together. Put in a serving dish and top with paprika and sliced boiled eggs.
ENJOY!
Health and Safety
ER visits often peak in
the summer months.
Protect yourself and
your loved ones by
avoiding these 5 most
common summer acci-
dents and illnesses.
See an animal
unattended in a
vehicle Report
it!
ACT FAST. SAVE A LIFE.
If you spot an unattended
pet in a vehicle that appears
to be suffering from heat
exhaustion, do not hesitate
to call your local Police or
another first responder
agency.
Parked cars can quickly
reach deadly temperatures
even on relatively mild days,
with the windows open.
Report animal welfare concerns 24/7 by
calling 1-833-9ANIMAL (1-833-926-4625)
Dogs have a limited ability to sweat. Their normal body temperature usually
sits at 39 degrees. At 41 degrees a dog can only withstand this for a short
period of time before brain damage and death can occur!
If you suspect heat stroke in a dog (Excessive panting, drooling, unconscious-
ness) immediate vet care is important! In the interim wet the dogs fur with
luke warm to cool water. Not cold water! Bring the dog out of the sun and offer
drinking water. #NoHotPets

The Barrie Food Bank’s mission is: to pro-vide temporary food relief to individuals and families of our community who are in need, and to serve as a resource to guide them along the road to self sufficiency. What you need to bring When you visit the food bank for food as-sistance in the afternoon you will be asked for information about your income, your address and your expenditures. It is im-portant to bring the following with you:
• Identification for all family members
• Proof of income and benefit
(Employment, EI, Child Tax Credit, Social Assistance)
• Proof of expenditures (rent, mortgage
and utilities)
• Proof of current address
• Plastic or canvas grocery bags
This information is asked for each time you visit for food assistance in the after-noon. Assessment interview When accessing the food bank you will participate in an assessment interview. This assessment helps us to understand your needs and ensures that the food is fairly distributed among those who need it. It also allows us to find out what issues have brought you to the food bank and gives us the opportunity to see if there are any resources we can provide to improve your situation. Morning Drop In Monday to Friday 8:30am to 11:30am At the morning Drop In you are able to pick up breads, baked goods, plus other items. You are able to use the morning drop in program as often as you wish. No documentation is required, however we do ask that you bring your own gro-cery bags.

We have had an amazing time at Summer Club this summer at Northfields, Cundles Terrace, Mill Creek, Coulter Glen, Penetang Court, And Summitview!
We are about half way thru our summer pro-gramming and we have seen 72 kids so far attend between the various sites!
With Kidz Club being off site during the school year, we love coming back onsite (where we started nine years ago!) and creating experi-ences to make summer memorable for all the kids who attend!
We have enjoyed Christmas in July, rock paint-ing, and worms and dirt desserts so far with lots more to come before our programs wrap up mid August!
