Barrier Free Built Environment for Disabled and Elderly Persons

Barrier-free environment is one which enables people with disabilities to move about safely and

freely and use all facilities within the built environment.

Vishwakarma University has provided following facilities for barrier free environment

Ramp at all the buildings for easy access to disabled persons.

Toilets have been made disabled-friendly.

Lift is provided for easy movement of disabled persons between floors.

E-Library Facilities

The e‐library is a library in which collections are stored in digital formats. It can be accessed only through

computers.

The Vishwakarma University library aims at providing access to its printed resources such as books,

journals, annual reports and thesis well as electronic journals and online databases for the use of faculty,

researchers, students and staff.

The library offers at presently 20 User Computers that are on the VU network for users to access internet,

online journals and other databases. One PC is restricted to access online/web catalogue of the library.

The computer facilities are provided for academic work only.

Other Facilities:

An OPAC (Online Public Access Catalog) is an online bibliography of a library collection that is

available to all users.

The library’s catalogue of books and other reading material can be accessed through library

intranet and Internet (OPAC). The library catalogue is searched by author, title, publisher,

keyword and year of publication.

Library has digital resource facility NPTEL (National Programme on Technology Enhanced

Learning) for students, faculty, researchers and staff.

VU library subscribes J-Gate, an electronic gateway to global e-journal literature; is the most

efficient comprehensive platform to access research information.
