Successful graduates will also receive credit for the following curriculum courses: CJC-120, CJC-131, CJC-132, CJC-221, CJC-225, and CJC-231.

The Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET) Program is offered during the day and also in the evening.

The Day Academy:- Is given twice a year (one starting in January and another in August)- 700+ hours over approximately four (4) months.- Meets Monday-Friday 8am-5pm (PT 3X a week 5:30pm-6:30pm) Some Saturdays and evenings when needed.

The Evening Academy:- Is given once a year (starting in September graduating in May)- 700+ hours over approximately eight (8) months.- Meets Monday-Friday 5:30pm-10:00pm, the next week Monday-Thursday 5:30pm-10:00pm & Saturday 8:00am-5:00pm (alternating weeks)

Applicants must meet the following criteria established by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education & Training Standards Division of the Office of the Attorney General to attend BLET:

1. Be a U.S. Citizen

2. Be at least 20 years

3. Valid drivers license

4. G.E.D. or traditional high school diploma

5. 10th grade reading level

6. Not have been convicted of a felony7. Not have been convicted of a crime of unlawful act as defined as

Class B Misdemeanor within the five year period prior to the date of application for acceptance into the BLET academy.

8. Not have been convicted of four or more crimes or unlawful acts as defined as Class B misdemeanors regardless of the date of conviction.

9. Not have been convicted of four or more crimes or unlawful acts as defined as a Class A misdemeanors except the applicant may be enrolled if the last conviction occurred more than two years prior to the date of enrollment or

10. Not have been convicted of a combination of four or more Class A misdemeanors or Class B misdemeanors regardless of the date of conviction unless the individual intends to seek certification through the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission. Priority admission will be given to individuals holding full-time employment with law enforcement agencies.

MODIFIED BLET FOR MPs

The NC Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards commission has recently approved that if a military service member has recently served as a military police officer they may be eligible to attend a modified version of the BLET Program. For more information go to: www.ncdoj.gov

BLET INFORMATIONAL WORKSHOPS AND HOW TO APPLY

Attend one of our BLET Informational Workshops to find out what the BLET Academy is all about! There are two (2) parts to the workshop.

- Part one (1) is the informational session

- Part two (2) is the application workshop (where a BLET staff member will assist you through the application process)

You can attend information only if you would like or you can attend both. If you attend both parts of the workshop you will have completed more than 80% of the application process by the time you leave that day!

There are two (2) ways to sign up for our BLET Informational Workshops.

#1 Go to our Facebook page at “FTCC Basic Law Enforcement Training” and click on the “Sign Up” button on our cover photo. Fill out all required information, and then choose the workshop of your choice. Make sure to print out the application packet from home when you sign up for the workshop and bring it with you to the workshop.

#2 Go to our website at: www.faytechcc.edu and find the “BLET” page. Click on the “How to Enroll” tab then click on link “Request an Academy Application Packet”. Fill out all required information, and then choose the workshop of your choice. Make sure to print out the application packet from home when you sign up for the workshop and bring it with you to the workshop.

NOTE: If you would like to complete the BLET application packet on your own, without attending a workshop, no problem, just choose the “none” option for the workshop part. Download the application packet from home and complete the checklist of things to do.
