Course Name: Basic Safety Training- STCW ‘95 Scope of Training: This five-day course is comprised of four U.S.C.G. approved courses:
Elementary First Aid -- 8 hours Personal Survival Techniques – 12 hours Personal Safety & Social Responsibility -- 4 hours Basic Fire Fighting -- 16 hours
Course Length: 40 hours Training Provider: Falck Safety Services Course Objectives: First Aid/ CPR This one-day course is designed to teach personnel the proper actions to take upon encountering an accident or other medical emergency. Successful completion of this course will satisfy: (a) the training requirements of section A-VI/1 and Table A-VI/1-3 of the STCW Code and 46 CFR 10.205 (I) (3); AND (b) if presented within one year of the date of training, the First Aid & CPR training requirements of 46 CFR 10.205 (h)(1)(ii) and 10.205 (h)(2)(iii) for original issuance of a license. Personal Survival Techniques This two-day course combines classroom and in water training to teach personnel the proper actions and survival techniques to ensure safety during an emergency evacuation/ abandonment from a vessel or offshore facility. Participants will also receive instruction on normal and emergency operations during transport, including helicopter underwater egress training (HUET). Successful completion of this course will satisfy the training requirements of Section A-VI/1 and Table A-VI/1-1 of the STCW Code and 46 CFR 10.205 (I)(1).
Personal Safety & Social Responsibility
This four hour course is designed to teach personnel the proper actions to take while executing their shipboard duties to ensure their own personal safety, the safety of fellow crewmembers and to protect the marine environment. Successful completion of this course will satisfy the training requirements of 46 CFR 10.205 (I)(4) and Section A-VI/1 and Table A-VI/1-4 of the STCW Code.
Basic Fire Fighting
This two-day course is designed to teach participants the importance of fire prevention, the proper actions to take upon discovering a fire, and how to protect themselves with existing firefighting equipment within their work area. Successful completion of this course will satisfy: (a) The training requirements of 46 CFR 10.205 (I)(2) and Section A-VI/1 and Table A-VI/1-2 of the STCW Code; AND (b) the basic fire fighting training requirements of 46 CFR 10.205 (g) and 10.401 (g)(1) for a license; AND (c) the fire fighting training requirements of 46 CFR 13.113(d)(2)(i)(A) or (B), 13.201 (e), 13.301 (e), 13,401 (d), or 13.501 (e) for any tanker man endorsement
