    1.0 SCOPE

    ESSAR POWER GUJARAT LTD. is setting up 2x600 MW Coal Based Thermal Power Plant at Salaya, in Gujarat. The scope of this document covers the list of various handling equipment like cranes (EOT, Underslung, Semi-gantry), Electric hoists and Chain pulley blocks required for 2x600 MW Coal Based Thermal Power Plant at Salaya

    2.0 AREAS OF POWER PLANT COVERED

    2.1 The material handling needs of the following areas in the power plant have been covered in this document.

    a. Station Building ( will be supplied by BTG Vendor) b. Fuel oil pump house c. Service water/Fire water pump house d. A/C and Ventilation system e. CW pump house f. Plant air Compressor building g. Sea Water Intake pump house h. De Salination Plant i. De Sal Plant Reject handling pump house

    j. Workshop building k. DG house l. DM water Transfer pump house m. DM Plant n. Chlorination room o. Remineralisation system 2.2 The material handling requirements in the following areas have not been

    considered in the scope of this document. However, the requirements in these areas have been considered separately in other packages.

    a. Steam Generator area including ESP b. Mill & Bunker bay

    c. Effluent treatment plant d. Ash handling system e. Coal handling system f. Other areas like Loco shed, bull dozer shed, etc.

    3.0 DESIGN FEATURES

    The main design features of the cranes and hoists, which will be provided in various areas of the power plant, are furnished below.

    3.1 Cranes

    3.1.1 All the cranes shall be of Class M-5 for mechanical & structural components and Class M7 for all electrical components as per IS 3177 : 1999 & IS 807.

    3.1.2 All the cranes, except station building EOT crane shall be operated from pendant push button station.

    3.1.3 The CW pump house crane shall be double girder type and provided with creep speed for all motions at 10% of main speed. Other single girder EOT cranes shall be provided with creep speed for main hoist at 10% of the main speed.

    3.1.4 The underslung crane provided in the Workshop building will have creep speed for all motions at 10% of the main speed.

    The single girder E.O.T crane in raw water pump house shall have creep speed for all motions at 10% of the main speed.

    3.1.5 The EOT cranes will be designed to operate at 100% load and tested at 125% of rated load without any permanent deformation.

    3.1.6 The EOT cranes will be designed for a maximum deflection of 1/900 of crane span at rated load.

    3.1.7 The cranes will be provided with Shrouded type of runway conductors.

    3.1.8 The cranes will have the following speeds.

    a) Hoisting speed : 4 m/min. (Max.) b) Cross travel speed : 6 m/min. c) Long travel speed : 10 m/min. 3.1.9 The cranes will be tested at shop and at site as per IS 3177.

    3.2 Hoists & Trolleys with Monorails

    3.2.1 For items weighing 500 kg and above, hoists and trolleys along with monorails will be provided throughout the plant where cranes cannot be utilised. For items weighing less than 1000 kg, manual hoists will be

    provided. For items weighing more than 1000 kg, electric hoists will be provided.

    3.2.2 All the electric hoists shall be of Class II as per IS 3938.

    3.2.3 All the electric hoists shall be operated from pendant push button station.

    3.2.4 The electric hoists will have the following speeds.

    a) Hoisting speed : 2.5 to 3.15 m/min. b) Travel speed : 4 m/min.

    4.0 List of Equipment The list of handling facilities proposed is listed below. However, the

    parameters like capacity, span, height, quantity, runway length, elevation of bottom of monorail, etc., would be finalized after receipt of data from sub-vendors.
