Nice Surprise – a bag full of surprises at Nassfeld
Nassfeld, the largest and most modern skiing area in Carinthia and one of
Austria's TOP 10 skiing regions, provides high quality services for its guests
thus ensuring that holidaymakers can enjoy relaxed holidays in Carinthia's
„Snow Hole“. Guests can expect a bag full of surprises under the slogan „Nice
Surprise“.
Snow guaranteed.
Nassfeld does not only score with its impressive mountain panorama but also
with its snow reliability. Carinthia's „Snow Hole“ benefits from a micro-climate
that, thanks to the frequent Adriatic lows, provides the right conditions to cover
the skiing area in snow from beginning of December until mid April. Artificial
snow-making machines ensure that all of the 110 kilometres of piste are
covered in snow if Mother Hulda is not as generous as usual. These machines
and top-modern lift facilities guarantee skiing pleasure throughout the entire
season.
Nassfeld's sunny hotspots – Skiing where the sun shines!
The unique mountain panorama, the snow reliability and the many hours of
sunshine – „This is just as we imagined our skiing holiday!“ say many of
satisfied Nassfeld guests. Nassfeld is alpine wide one of the ski resort with the
most hours of sunshine (100 hours of sunshine more than other ski resorts
north of the Alps) and, thanks to its topography, skiing on sun-drenched pistes
is possible almost all day long. Apps and information boards throughout the ski
resort help skiers and snowboarders to find the best and sunniest pistes at
Nassfeld.
Box seats set in amazing scenery.
Nassfeld also offers an extensive range of services, providing an extra portion
of comfort and fun on the piste.

New this year in the „Nice Surprise“ range are two box seats set in amazing
sceneries, offering comfortable lounge furniture that invites for a rest and to
enjoy the beautiful mountain panorama. Use your smartphone and take some
pictures of the magnificent views across the Upper Tauern with the
Großglockner in northern direction, the Carnic Alps, the Dolomites with their
three crenellations to the west and the Julian Alps to the south. You can share
your snapshots with your friends at home instantly thanks to free of charge WiFi
connection at all three chill-out locations. The photo points and chill-out
locations with views across the Alps are located at the upper terminals of the
Millennium-Express and the Gartnerkofel Chair Lift.
The fastest cookery course in the Alps.
This year, Nassfeld also surprises its guests with the fastest cookery course in
the Alps: Whilst in the cabins of the Millennium Express, which takes the skiers
from the valley up to the 2.000 metres high, Madritsche in just 17 minutes, the
international guests will be given a quick introduction into the Carinthian art of
cooking. Chefs create Carinthian specialities like Carinthian Kasnudeln right in
front of the guests – there is of course a sampling session and the recipe is
available for recreating the dish at home.
Express-Ski Service at the lowest prices in the Alps.
Skis need to be properly prepared and serviced for the start into the new skiing
season. The Carinthian Nassfeld provides an easy and quick service directly at
the piste. Edge grinding and tuning as well as hot waxing at the ski-service
centre at the upper terminal of the Millennium-Express is even free of charge
until Christmas. The Express-Ski Service is available for affordable eight Euro
after Christmas, which is still the lowest price in the entire Alps. And the time it
takes to service your skis is not bad either: your skis are made fit for the piste in
just five to ten minutes – for better grip, optimal safety and maximum skiing
pleasure.
Ski depot free of charge, just another Nice Surprise:
Skiers don't have to lug their equipment around at Nassfeld, they just leave it
free of charge at the ski depot at the lower terminal of the Millennium-Express
or the Tressdorfer Alm. Ski boots can, for a small surcharge, also be left at the
ski depot.
Affordable ski hire from € 1,-/day.
Nassfeld has a very special offer for children or better – their parents: young
guests up to the age of 14,9 pay only one Euro for ski hire per day throughout
all off-seasons. Adults can hire ski equipment for ten Euro per day, which is still
far less than the usual hire costs.
Skimovie with racing atmosphere
Winter fans have the opportunity to gain badges and to win fantastic prizes at
the ski resort Nassfeld. Skiers and snowboarders are now able to gain a total of
six badges in different events at the BMW xDrive Cup. Amateurs can compete
with each other on the specially marked-out giant slalom route at the
Zweikofelbahn (piste 77) and are able to post their personal Skimovie online.
Purchasing a ski pass at Nassfeld is rewarded with a badge. A performance-
badge is given for every 5.000 metres in altitude covered. Badges can also be
gained by using selected routes within the skiing area of the BMW x-Drive Cup.
There is also something to do even when the weather is not that good: on the
www.bmw-xdrive-guide.com website is a hidden link where the webtour-badge
can be found.
The world's longest ski race.
The world's longest ski race under the motto „Beat Armin Assinger“ will take
place at Nassfeld on 16th January 2016. Amateur sportsmen and women have
to manage a sensational 25,6 kilometres and 6.000 metres in altitude in just one
go during this first class race, which has been entered into the Guinness Book
of Records. The challenge for the participants: to beat the time of former skier
Armin Assinger, who will also participate and who has assumed patronage over
the race.
The largest sun terrace in the Alps.
Nassfeld turns into the largest sun terrace in the Alps during Sun Skiing 2016:
huts and restaurants in the skiing area create with themed outdoor-bars a
relaxing atmosphere. Cool music, novelty drinks and culinary treats provide
entertainment for gourmet skiers away from the fare of the huts. The Sun Skiing
package includes a daily lunch treat at one of the sun terraces, musical
entertainment is also inclusive.
Children invited:
Nice Surprise for kids – sorry, Nassfeld has actually prepared these surprises
for their parents. Nassfeld invites children up to the age of eight on a skiing
holiday. Junior skiers stay free of charge when they share a room with their
parents/grandparents (includes board) and receive ski pass, skiing lessons and
equipment including helmet also absolutely free. This offer is valid from the start
of the season on 0th December until 24th December and again from 12th March
until the end of the season (10th April 2016).

BOBO-MINI-CLUB. Star and mascot of the club is the lovely, somewhat
oversized penguin BOBO. All-round childcare for children from three to five
years of age is provided in a specially designed children area at the Tressdorfer
Alm at Nassfeld. Building a snowman, tobogganing, first experiences on ski,
Punch and Judy Show and snow tubing are just some of the activities on offer.
Complete skiing equipment, lunch, Jause and much more are also included.
Cool fun in cool snow.
Carving, Skifox, Airboard, Snowbike and Snowskate – the list of trend sports
goes on and on. How is a teenager to know what is really cool? The NTC-
Centre at the Tressdorfer Alm provides a starter package, the „NTC Blue Day“,
for all trend sports enthusiasts. Young people can test all trend sports
equipment on a day in the snow for only 20 Euro. The „Smart Terrain“ makes it
easy for beginners to get started. First attempts at sliding are made here under
the instruction and supervision of experts.
Paradise for snowboarders.
Snowboarders are very much welcome at Nassfeld. The Snow Park and the
freeride areas provide plenty of new attractions this year: Snowboard area with
high jumps, rails and a Snow-Cross-Park guarantee fun and action.
Fun in the snow
There is plenty to enjoy for cross-country skiers too: 80 kilometres of cross-
country skiing trails in the Gailtal Valley and two completely snow-reliable high
altitude cross-country skiing trails, which allow for excursions into Italy, are
available at Nassfeld. In addition, there is the newly adapted Nordic
Competence Center & Beginner Area at the lower terminus of the Millennium
Express. Under the supervision of experts, sports enthusiasts of all ages can
look forward to be introduced to this highly interesting sport on the one
kilometre long biathlon loop. Winter hiking trails are provided in the mountains
as well as in the valley. The enchanting winter landscape with its idyllic valleys
and snow-covered peaks can be discovered on a snowshoe hiking tour. Lake
Pressegger See near Hermagor invites to ice skating, ice curling fun and ice
hockey matches. Tobogganing fun for everyone provide the 5 natural
tobogganing runs of which 3 are lit in the evenings. The weekly night skiing
event “Colourful Piste“ on one of the longest floodlit pistes in the Alps and the

snowshoe hikers.
A cosy and relaxing experience after winter sports activities provide the
