A total of 376 players participated over the weekend. anks to the efforts of our Congress Convenor, Carolyn Bulger, and the many volunteers, the whole event was a great success. e Director for the weekend was Bruce Crossman from Canberra assisted by Geoff Seymour from the Bridge @ e Bay Club. ere were 24 pairs participating in the Walk-In Pairs on Friday evening. Heather Tarrant and her partner, Lyn Lynch, from the Central Coast Leagues Bridge Club did well. e Swiss Pairs event was on the Saturday and 88 pairs participated. e winning pair was Mitch Dowling and David Weston from the Parramatta and Hunters Hill Bridge Clubs. e best local pair was Andrew Creet and Stephen Mendick (7th overall), closely followed by Maureen Cornish and Jenny Lora (8th overall) and John Partridge and Edith Jones (11th overall). e best local restricted pair was Louise and Michael Brassil. e best local novice pair was Terry and Ann Challender. A pleasing feature was the 17 local pairs who participated plus another 4 local players partnering members of other Clubs. e Swiss Teams event held on the Sunday saw 38 teams competing. e winning team was the Kozakos team (George Kozakos, Brad Coles, Arunja De Livera and Elizabeth Havas) followed by the Creet team (Andrew Creet, Stephen Mendick, Karen Creet and Richard Brightling). e best local team was the Fader team (Chris Fader, Richard Bodell, Patricia Afflick and Richard Prickett) followed by the Wright team (Rita Wright, Joan Small, Judy Esso and Geoffrey Phegan). e best local Novice team was the Brassil team (Louise and Michael Brassil, David Num and Mary O’Neil).

Batemans Bay Youth bridge weekend by Carolyn Bulgar

Our Annual Congress was held at the Soldiers’ Club over the weekend of 10-12 March. A total of 376 players participated over the weekend. Thanks to the efforts of our Congress Convenor, Carolyn Bulger, and the many volunteers, the whole event was a great success. The Director for the weekend was Bruce Crossman from Canberra assisted by Geoff Seymour from the Bridge @ The Bay Club.

There were 24 pairs participating in the Walk-In Pairs on Friday evening. Heather Tarrant and her partner, Lyn Lynch, from the Central Coast Leagues Bridge Club did well.

The Swiss Pairs event was on the Saturday and 88 pairs participated. The winning pair was Mitch Dowling and David Weston from the Parramatta and Hunters Hill Bridge Clubs. Stephen Mendick, Richard Brightling, Karen Creet and Andy Creet, who came second in the Teams. Stephen Mendick, and Andy Creet were the Local Open winners in the Swiss Pairs event.
