THE CALL TO WORSHIP
THE PRAYER OF ST. FRANCIS
[Pastor / CONGREGATION ]
Lord, make me an instrument
OF YOUR PEACE;
Where there is hatred,
LET ME SOW LOVE;
Where there is injury, PARDON;
Where there is doubt, FAITH;
Where there is despair, HOPE;
Where there is sadness, JOY;
Where there is darkness, LIGHT.
O divine Master, grant that I may not so
much seek to be consoled,
AS TO CONSOLE;
Not so much to be understood,
AS TO UNDERSTAND;
Not so much to be loved,
AS TO LOVE.
For it is in giving
THAT WE RECEIVE;
It is in pardoning
THAT WE ARE PARDONED;
It is in dying
THAT WE ARE BORN AGAIN
TO ETERNAL LIFE.
**THE OPENING HYMN
#772
‘WHEN WE ALL GET TO HEAVEN’
(See Screen)
[ All who are able please stand ]
(1)
Sing the wondrous love of Jesus,
Sing His mercy and His grace;
In the mansions bright and blessed
He’ll prepare for us a place.
When we all get to heaven,
What a day of rejoicing that will be!
When we all see Jesus,
We’ll sing and shout the victory!
(2)
While we walk the pilgrim pathway,
Clouds will overspread the sky;
But when trav’ling days are over,
Not a shadow, not a sigh.
When we all get to heaven,
What a day of rejoicing that will be!
When we all see Jesus,
We’ll sing and shout the victory!
(3)
Let us then be true and faithful,
Trusting, serving every day;
Just one glimpse of Him in glory
Will the toils of life repay.
When we all get to heaven,
What a day of rejoicing that will be!
When we all see Jesus,
We’ll sing and shout the victory!
(4)
Onward to the prize before us!
Soon His beauty we’ll behold;
Soon the pearly gates will open;
We shall tread the streets of gold.
When we all get to heaven,
What a day of rejoicing that will be!
When we all see Jesus,
We’ll sing and shout the victory!
SILENT PRAYERS OF
THANKSGIVING AND CONFESSION
THE ASSURANCE OF PARDON
Matthew 11:28
(The words of Jesus)
“Come unto me, all you who are
weary and heavy-laden,
and I will give you rest.”
THE SONG OF RESPONSE (1)
Some glad morning when this life is o'er,
I'll fly away;
To a home on God's celestial shore,
I'll fly away.
I'll fly away, Oh Glory, I'll fly away;
When I die, Hallelujah, by and by,
I'll fly away.
(2)
When the shadows of this life have gone,
I'll fly away;
Like a bird from prison bars has flown,
I'll fly away.
I'll fly away, Oh Glory, I'll fly away;
When I die, Hallelujah, by and by,
I'll fly away.
(3)
Just a few more weary days and then,
I'll fly away;
To a land where joy shall never end,
I'll fly away.
I'll fly away, Oh Glory, I'll fly away;
When I die, Hallelujah, by and by,
I'll fly away.
SINCE LAST YEAR’S ALL-SAINTS SUNDAY
NOVEMBER 2, 2014 “Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord, for they rest
from their labors, and their works follow them.”
(Revelation 14:13)
“And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes;
and there shall be NO MORE death, neither sorrow, nor
crying, neither shall there be any more pain.”
(Revelation 21:4)
THE HOLY SCRIPTURE
Hebrews 12:1-3 Read by Elder Roy Palk, J.D.
Since we are surrounded by such a great
cloud of witnesses, let us THROW OFF
EVERYTHING THAT HINDERS and the sin
that so easily entangles, and let us run with
PERSEVERANCE the race marked out for us.
Let us FIX OUR EYES ON JESUS, the author
and perfecter of our faith, who, for the joy set
before Him, endured the cross, scorning its
shame, and sat down at the right hand of the
throne of God.
Consider Him who endured such opposition
from sinful men, so that you will not grow
weary and lose heart.
1 Corinthians 15:35-37; 42-44
Some may ask, “How are the dead raised?
With what kind of body will they come?”
What you sow does not come to life unless it
dies. When you sow, you do not plant the
body that will be, but just a seed, perhaps of
wheat or something else.
So it will be with the resurrection of the dead.
The body that is sown is perishable,
yet it will be raised imperishable;
The body that is sown is dead,
yet it will be raised in glory;
The body is sown in weakness,
yet it is raised in power;
The body is sown a natural temporal body,
yet it is raised a spiritual, eternal body.
THE SONG OF PREPARATION
#778
(1)
There’s a land that is fairer than day,
And by faith we can see it afar;
For the Father waits over the way
To prepare us a dwelling place there.
In the sweet by and by
We shall meet on that beautiful shore;
In the sweet by and by
We shall meet on that beautiful shore.
(2)
We shall sing on that beautiful shore
The melodious songs of the blest;
And our spirits shall sorrow no more
Not a sigh for the blessing of rest.
In the sweet by and by
We shall meet on that beautiful shore;
In the sweet by and by
We shall meet on that beautiful shore.
(3)
To our bountiful Father above
We will offer our tribute of praise,
For the glorious gift of his love
And the blessings that hallow our days.
In the sweet by and by
We shall meet on that beautiful shore;
In the sweet by and by
We shall meet on that beautiful shore.

THE CLOSING HYMN
#774
‘WHEN THE ROLL IS CALLED
UP YONDER ’
(1)
When the trumpet of the Lord shall sound
and time shall be no more,
And the morning breaks eternal, bright and fair;
When the saved of earth shall gather
over on the other shore,
And the roll is called up yonder,
I’ll be there.
When the roll is called up yonder,
When the roll is called up yonder,
When the roll is called up yonder,
When the roll is called up yonder,
I’ll be there.
(2)
On that bright and cloudless morning
when the dead in Christ shall rise,
and the glory of His resurrection share;
When His chosen ones shall gather
to their home beyond the skies,
And the roll is called up yonder,
I’ll be there.
When the roll is called up yonder,
When the roll is called up yonder,
When the roll is called up yonder,
When the roll is called up yonder,
I’ll be there.
(3)
Let us labor for the Master
from the dawn to setting sun;
Let us talk of all His wondrous love and care
Then when all of life is over
and our work on earth is done,
And the roll is called up yonder,
I’ll be there.
When the roll is called up yonder,
When the roll is called up yonder,
When the roll is called up yonder,
When the roll is called up yonder,
I’ll be there.
