Earn while you learnwith an ApprenticeshipWith opportunities available in approxi-mately 170 different industries, an Apprenticeship offers an excellent way of starting on your chosen career path. Aimed at 16-24 year olds, apprentice-ships take between one and four years to complete, dependent on the job role you are training for. You will be employed by the company which trains you and be paid a salary. This will vary but the average wage for an Apprentice is £170 per week.
All apprentices will gain further qualifi-cations related to their job. This will be arranged by your employer and be a nationally recognised qualification such as NVQ’s.
Employers may require applicants to have GCSE’s in certain subjects such as Maths or English, but this will vary for each apprenticeship.
Not quite ready for an Apprenticeship? Traineeships are an ideal opportunity for young people, aged 16 to 24, who are motivated to get a job but lack the skills, qualifications or experience that employers are looking for. A typical traineeship lasts up to six months and involves a work experience placement, work preparation and help with English and Maths (if you need it)
You won’t be paid, but you may be given a training allowance for things like travel and meals. At the end of your traineeship you will be given help with finding a place on a suitable apprenticeship.
Applying The easiest way to find and apply for Apprenticeship and Trainee-ship vacancies is by using www.findapprenticeship.service.gov.ukThis is a government website with lots of helpful information and vacancies from hundreds of local employers.
