Limitation of debt financing:No doubt that debt financing is the easiest option for any company to raise finances for its business. But there comes a point in the life of a company where debt financing is not sufficient for the GROWTH of the company and hence option of infusion of external equity (PE) becomes desirable. Below are some examples of situations where there could be a case for equity finance :

PE investors not only contribute money to the business but also bring with them business expertise. They are not investing to take away the control of your business from you .. Whilst the decision making for the current owner if external equity is required for the company to deliver its potential is highly emotional due to fear of losing control of the business, the following point is worth considering:

Is it better to have 100% of a small cake - OR - a bit lesser percentage of a much BIGGER cake?
