    Battery discharge test procedure 2012-2013

1- You have to get the new BDT sheet from office manager before moving to site.2- You have to check your tools (AVO and clamp) before moving to site.3- How to perform a BDT :

Check the last power alarm ( BDT performed only after 72 Hrs from the last power alarm ) Check on the Utrip low value (must equal 43.2 V). Check the battery charging current from rectifier (Ibatt must equal zero or one). Check the cable connection tightening between batteries and rectifiers please inform us if

    any lose cables found.

Please clear the battery surface and ventilation points. Check the battery connections inside rectifier and check the battery C.Bs Please make sure that the rectifier voltage reading on rectifier controller equals the

readings measured from rectifier bus bar (all equal 54.5 OR 55 V) not less.

Please take the needed readings before disconnecting rectifier according to BDT sheet asbelow::

A- Rectifier voltageB- Readings for all battery cellsC- Ampere reading for all batteries and on rectifier.D- Make sure that rectifier voltage always equals the summation of all battery cells

readings at any time ( in both voltage and ampere readings )

Dont start the BDT if you found one of the below cases :1- Any battery reading is less than 1.8 V OR 10.8 V (Before disconnecting the rectifier).2- Battery current is over 4 Ampere (any power alarm) (before disconnecting the

    rectifier).

3- Any lose of battery cables. Start the test and take the needed readings carefully according to BDT sheet needs. Stop the battery test if any of the below cases found :

1- Rectifier voltage is 44 V.2- You reached the test time (3Hrs or 4Hrs according to site type).3- Any battery voltage became less that 1.8 V (for 2V batteries).4- Any battery voltage became less than 10.8 V (for 12 V batteries).

After ending your test, you have to complete all the needed data inside the BDT sheet like :- Site power source- Battery type

    a- Power safe 2V 42b- OPZV 2V 42 c- Excide 180 AHd- Excide 165 AH Excide FTe- Power safe 12V 170 AH

    f- SBS 12V 170 AHg- North star 170 AH

    - Rectifier type- Site type and configuration- Accurate date of configuration and traffic and no. of links.

Please adjust the below values as mentioned :Battery type Ibatt Max Temp Coeff

    Power safe 450 AH no. of strings * 35 72 mV/C

    OPZV 300AH no. of strings * 35 72 mV/C

    Excide 180 AH no. of strings * 45 110 mV/C

    Excide FT 165 AH no. of strings * 17 110 mV/C

    Power safe 170 AH no. of strings * 17 96 mV/C

    SBS 170 AH no. of strings * 25 96 mV/C

How to find Ibatt Max and Temp Coeff for every rectifier :a- Delta 1&2, Ascom :

    - Exit to enter setting menu- Go to menu no. 4 alarm and find Ibatt Max parameter- And then go to menu no. 6 Temp Comp and adjust the temp factor.- If you didnt find the Temp comp menu please call me.- Finally you have to save your changes from menu no. 3 general and press Current Par

    save. Are yousure yes

b- Delta 3: (Password is Exit Exit Enter).

    -

    -c- Power One: (Password is 1 2 3 4).

    - Go to menu- Go to menu called adjust limit - Got to submenu called battery current limit and adjust the Ibatt max- Go to submenu called Temp compensation and adjust the Temp Coeff.

    Rectifier Alarms troubleshooting

Delta 1, Delta 2 And Ascom: (press theup arrow to get the alarms)

    - UA Alarm 1 is due to faulty surge arrestors.- UA battery fuse is due to C.B of batteries is off- UA Load fuse is due to C.B of load is off- NUA Usys low low rectifier voltage- NUA Temp Measurement is due to faulty Temp Sensor.- UA RM Failure is due to faulty module.Delta 3 rectifier:

    - RFA alarm is due to no. of modules need to be readjustedHow to edit the no. of installed modules: (from setup).

    - VDR Alarm is due to faulty surge arrestors inside rectifier.- UA battery fuse is due to C.B of batteries is off- UA Load fuse is due to C.B of load is off.- NUA Usys low rectifier voltage.

    Power One Rectifiers:

    - For any alarm on Power one rectifiers please check the below :1- EC readings2- Surge arrestors3- Batteries and Load C.Bs4- And also check all modules.5- And if all is ok please do the below steps to try to clear it :

a- Got to rectifier menu and go to the last menu called Miscellaneous b- Then go to submenu called accept removed part c- And give the password and change it from NO to Yes.

6- If you still have a problem please call me.
