Align Align your current curriculum, lesson plans and/or resources to the College & Career Readiness Standards for Adult Education. Develop competencies based on the

standards for your existing classes. Work through checklists provided by Standards in Work or templates from Massachusetts.

Curriculum Create a scope and sequence for your curriculum. What are your overarching themes? How will the theme be reflected in your units? There are templates available if you want them,

guidelines from other programs that have been through the process or do it on your own!

Contextualize Explore contextualized instruction through the use of occupationally specific materials. See what others have created, work with available Toolkits or come up with your own ideas.

Workforce Preparation Integrate workforce preparation activities into your existing curriculum. Use the templates provided by EFF, look at samples from other programs, figure out what works for your classes.

Distance Learning What is distance learning? Not just online courses. How can you use different media to enhance or extend learning beyond the classroom or to create access for those who can’t get to class?

Components of Reading What is the best way to incorporate phonemic awareness, phonics, vocabulary instruction and reading fluency into your everyday lessons? What are some best practices? How

can you use this to help your students?

BRIDGE Program How would you assist students with gaining the skills needed to be successful in an education or training program that leads to an occupational credential? What credential programs are available in your area? What level

of skills do students need to complete those successfully? How can this be combined with HSE/Diploma or ESL?

Research What’s new in the field of adult education? Explore the research, choose a topic to create a resource list. What does it mean to be scientifically valid or rigorous? How can the

research inform instruction in your classroom or your program?

Technology How do you incorporate digital literacy skills in the classroom? Do you need to build your own skills to be able to teach your students? What about technology other than computers? How can cell

phones be used effectively?

WIOA What is WIOA all about? Read about the law, explore the role of adult education in WIOA, create a glossary for your program. Explore career pathways, effective collaborations and consider how

adult education contributes to workforce development.
