Urbana is the city card that is being used for public transport, LCL’s services, rent-a-bike service (BicikeLJ), the castle’s cable car service, or for payment of parking space in Ljubljana. Urbana is also the membership card of the Ljubljana City Library (LCL).

If you already own an Urbana card, bring it with you when visiting the library, and we will customize it for your use of library services. If you are a library member or you wish to become one, and you don’t own an Urbana card, you may purchase it for 2€ in the library. We will print your name, sur-name, and membership number on your Ur-bana value card (yellow), or merely add the library-membership number on your Urbana time card (green).

Is the LCL’s membership card charge-able? Yes, Urbana is the membership card of LCL, and it costs 2 €.

Can Urbana be purchased in the library?Yes, Urbana may be purchased in our librar-ies.

I already own an Urbana card. Can I use it for LCL’s services?Yes. When visiting the library, bring your Urbana card with you. Your name, surname, and membership number will be printed on your Urbana value card (yellow), or the library-membership number will be added on your Urbana time card (green); thereafter your Urbana card will be ready for usage in the LCL.

Can materials of LCL be loaned by means alternative to Urbana? The regular membership card of LCL is Urba-na; however your mobile phone – registered in the library – may also be used for all LCL’s services. For every transaction in the LCL your phone operator will charge you.

What should I do with my old member-ship card once I receive Urbana?Bring your old membership card back to the library, where it will be destroyed when your Urbana card is registered.

If I don’t have my Urbana card with me, when I visit the library, what can I do? According to our statute materials can be loaned with the membership card only, so Urbana must be purchased or brought to the library. However, materials may also be loaned by your mobile phone for a fee set by your phone operator.

I have lost my Urbana. / My Urbana has been stolen. What should I do? Call or visit the library, and your lost/stolen Urbana will be cancelled. If you have funds on your lost/stolen card, the transfer of funds will be carried out only upon your identifica-tion with a personal document. The newly made Urbana card may be used immediately for all services of LCL, while your funds shall be transferred within 24 hours.

How much does the transfer of funds upon Urbana’s cancellation cost?The transfer of funds upon Urbana’s cancel-lation costs 8€.

I use Urbana time card for LPP’s service. Can Urbana value card be purchased for LCL’s services only?No, because by purchasing the Urbana time card, you have already been registered into the common LPP’s system.

Can you check the state of my funds on the Urbana card?Our employees have no insight on the state of your Urbana funds. When payment is carried out in the LCL by the use of Urbana, the delivery slip will show the state of your Urbana funds.

Is the registration to the BicikeLJ serv-ice automatically transferred to the new Urbana card once a duplicate of the lost or stolen card is made?No. The registration of a duplicate card into the BicikeLJ system can be made after the new activation code has been sent to you. In order to receive the new activation code, a message containing the user number that you had received upon the initial registra-tion, must be sent to the info@bicikelj.si address.
