Beach report card: April 2014-March 2015Water quality is tested for indicator bacteria year-round at 324 locations statewide 445 sites April through October by various public agencies. Heal the Bay analyzes the data, assigns grades to the beaches and advises that beachgoers use the information to minimize their exposure to potentially contaminated water.
Sources: Heal the Bay analyzed data from the city of L.A. Environmental Monitoring Division, L.A. County Sanitation Districts and the L.A. County Department of Health Services On the Web: www.healthebay.org
*April 1 through Oct. 31, 2014
Grading: Points are subtracted from a perfect score of 100 depending upon the severity of bacterial counts. The better the grade, the lower the risk of illness to swimmers, surfers and bathers.
