Soundbeam is a fun packed unique no contact movement sound device which enables

clients regardless of physical or cognitive disability to experiment and communicate

with sound by moving within an invisible elastic keyboard in space. Even the blinking

of an eye can produce notes, dramatic chords or sound effects. Simple controls

allow the operating length of the beam between (300mm and 6m) to be tailored to

the mobility level of the individual user.

What is a Story Sack ?

A storysack is a large cloth bag containing a picture book with supporting materials

to stimulate reading activities. To bring the book to life there is a selection of soft

toys, scenery and props, games etc., relating to the story. There will also be a non-

fiction book relating to the theme. In addition a prompt card of ideas, suggesting

ways in which you may develop listening, reading and writing skills using the contents

of the storysack and a guide for parents is also enclosed. In some of the newer

socks you will find a CD-Rom containing a bonus selection of extra fun activities to

print of and enjoy.

Safety Warning - The products in the sacks are for educational use and should be

used under supervision. The soft toys bear a CE mark but some props and other

items are not toys and therefore appropriate care should be exercised. Many sacks

contain small parts and are not suitable for children under 36 months.

What is a Bag Book ?

Bag Books are aimed at those who cannot benefit from mainstream books. They can

be enjoyed without being understood as they are told interactively through voice

and emotion rather than words and pictures. They are designed for people

with profound, multiple and severe learning disabilities or people with severe autistic

spectrum disorders. They are also hugely beneficial to those with visual and hearing

impairments.

Bag Books are very different to ordinary books. Each story contains a number of

‘pages’ – A3 boards – each containing a different multi-sensory experience. These

pages are bought together by a simple but interesting storyline of just a few short

sentences. Listeners are encouraged to explore the different sensory experiences.

The Books encourage the listener to become more involved in the story.

Each of the Books takes the listener on a journey to discover new textures, sounds,

smells and movements. They can be used on a one to one basis or in small groups

A Box Full of Feelings is designed to support the

social and emotional development of children and is

built around the four basic feelings of happy, sad,

angry and afraid. It contains masses of activities

that will involve children all year round.

The box includes:

• 48 situational pictures (11 x 11cm) – each basic feeling has 12 pictures, with a short

story and questions on the reverse

Communication through Touch and Music

Tac Pac is a Sensory Activity Pack that combines touch and music to

help with communication, social and emotional development. Each Tac

Pac sessions lasts approximately 30 minutes and consist of six experi-

ences in sequence—always ending with relaxing music. For each session,

you will need a CD Player, a Tac Pac Set and a quiet area where there

will be no interruptions.

Tac Pac is used by infants, children, parents, portage workers,

therapists, carers and health professionals.
