Suitably, their album sounds just like Oasis minus Noel Gallagher. That is, songs aping their role models — the Beatles and the Rolling Stones. Great single The Roller borrows John Lennon’s In- stant Karma vibe and the grunt is turned up on Four Letter Word. Kill for a Dream is a budget Champagne Supernova (Spumante Supernova?) while Liam Gallagher’s sweet voice is showcased on For Anyone. All as you expect, just missing a Noel- Gallagher-penned classic. Cameron Adams GREEN DAY AWESOME AS F**K (Warner) ★★★ GREEN Day’s tours be- hind their past two al- bums, American Idiot and 21st Century Breakdown, have been non-stop crowd- pleasers, from explosions to kids pulled from the crowd to play guitar. Still, that should not dis- tract you from the fact it’s the songs that make a Green Day show such a punchy affair. Recorded around the world on their 2009 tour (that’s Brisbane chanting along with Billie Joe on She), Awesome as F**k veers from epic to bratty. Neala Johnson
