Duties of a School Librarian
• Encourage and model a love of READING!
• Collaborate with teachers to design instructional activities
• Teach students how to find and use information from:• Books and other print
resources• On-line databases• Internet

• Search for books, online and web-based resources to support instruction
• Order books and materials for the library collection
• Serve on district and school committees
• Help teachers with technology issues and problems
• Make the library a friendly, fun place to be!
Education/Training Required
• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university
• Master’s Degree in Educational Media or Library Science
• Professional teaching license• School Librarian Endorsement (State
Test)• Minimum of one year classroom
teaching experience
Skills Needed
A School Librarian must:• Have excellent reading and writing skills• Be able to use and apply current
information technology• Understand curriculum design, teaching
and instruction • Be a team player• Communicate well with others• Exhibit good problem solving abilities

Salary and Benefits
• $33,000 -$64,000 per year depending on experience and years teaching
