Independently Tested

While it is possible for manufacturers to ‘self certify’, the complexity of the standard can lead to interpretation rather than strict compliance. To ensure that the Elite range is fully compliant, Renray beds are INDEPENDENTLY tested to IEC 60601-2-52:2009.

Advanced Profiling*

The 4 profiling sections of the Elite bed range mimic the movement of the client’s natural pivot point (their hip joint), with the backrest and thigh section imitating the way tissue stretches as they move from a lying to a sitting position, reducing abdominal compression while seated. This offers major benefits over conventional profiling beds:

The Renray Corus bed has a low height of 19.5cm, from mattress platform to floor, offering increased security for clients, allowing them a relaxed sleep and peace of mind, especially when combined with a falls mattress, significantly reducing injury from bed falls. Curtain TracksAs standard we use a white aluminium curtain track with siliconised gliders (gliders run on the underside of the track to minimise ingress of dust and dirt)

Renray furniture and chairs are robust, but don’t just take our word for it as we independently test our products and have the certificates to prove it, so you can order with absolute confidence.

Antibacterial coating on all wood finishes for hygiene protection

Wooden frames are supplied with an antibacterial coating. This coating incorporates an active agent which prevents bacteria surviving when in contact with the coated surface.

Independent laboratory tests prove that antibacterial coated products have a 99% kill rate of bacteria within a 24 hour period. Continuing to kill bacteria for the life of the coated surface

High performance fabrics

Amongst our extensive range of fabrics we also offer a number of anti-microbial options that are effective against MRSA as well as E.coli, Listeria, Salmonella, Legionella and other similar bacteria.

The Renray guide to good seating and posture

Are you sitting comfortably?

Correct seating position and chair dimensions will provide: A good sitting posture, important for activities of daily living and normal body functions e.g. respiration. Good pressure area care, by maximising the surface over which weight is carried, thereby reducing pressure and freedom for independent movement and postural changes.

Seat too wide

Offers no support or stability, the body tends to lean to one side, putting pressure on ischial tuberosities

Seat too high

Difficult to get into and no support for the feet, leading to ankle deformities and restriction of blood flow at the back on the thigh. Heels are at risk when the patient shuffles forward for comfort.

Seat too low

An individual’s body weight is supported on a small area, leading to high pressures under the coccyx and buttocks. Feet pushed forward for stability increases heel pressure.

Seat too short

The body weight is supported on a small area. The feet are used for balance and posture, leading to high pressures and discomfort, especially under the thigh.

Seat too narrow

Risk of pressure damage to Trochanters. Difficult to get in and out of the chair due to limited movement.

Seat too long

Causes high pressures, especially on the back of the knees and sacrum due to limited knee and ankle flexion, leading to poor posture.

To ensure good posture, pressure area care, as well as comfort, it is important to have a correctly fitted chair and cushion.

Anthropometric Dimensions

Humans vary significantly in size and build. In some situations, it is sufficient to design for the smallest or largest likely dimension. In other situations, adjustable benches, chairs or devices are required for the full range of people.
